Such a combination of German and Korean design and in the automotive, and in ordinary life they will be infrequently, and yet I saw it? But the invitation to the winter test drive of the new Scirocco in Norway initially was perceived with some more surprise: it seems that the sports compartment does not have too much to ice tests on frozen lakes. But Scirocco was surprisingly harmoniously fit into the snow-covered expanses of Norway, vividly emphasized his advantages in a typical winter exploitation for Russia.

Although the ESP shutdown button is formally present above the KP lever next to the suspension mode selector, its functionality is very conditional. Even in the disconnected mode, the stabilization system will not go for a second for a second, knocking the car, as soon as it comes out from under the control of the driver. At the same time, even on the ice of ESP intervention is quite thoughtful and soft, and sometimes simply invisible.
Of course, its role in the magnificent VW Scirocco stability on the ice track was played by excellent characteristics of winter tires Hakkapeliitta 5 R17, low center of gravity, specific suspension settings and a wider track, which is 35 mm in front and 59 mm. Nevertheless, the most vivid impression in the ice test produces the ESP job.
 
Compared to the GOLF GTI stabilization system, the Rusk and transverse acceleration angle sensors are embedded in the ESP control unit, which made it possible to abandon the sensor block in the cabin. The steering angle sensor, used in the ESP and traditional for the last generation of the VW electromechanical steering amplifier, is now embedded in the body of the drive gear. These updates made it possible to improve the quality of information and optimize the ESP and steering settings. As for the latter, the theoretically, the new design provides a higher regenerating moment and more effort on the rim of the steering wheel. However, it was very difficult to unequivocally appreciate its sharpness in the conditions of the Scandinavian test drive: even on dry asphalt, the soft sidewalls of winter tires Hakkapeliitta reacts the steering reaction.
In Russia, a coupe from VW is available with two TSI motors with a volume of 1.4 and 2 liters and three gearboxes: six-speed mechanics and 7-speed DSG for a 160-strong motor and designed for a higher torque (up to 350 nm) 6-speed DSG aggregated with a 200-strong engine. It is this top version of Scirocco TSI 2.0 and was at our disposal in Norway. An enlarged turbocharger allows you to get very solid to the 2-liter motor of power than 200 liters. Our opinion
The new Volkswagen Scirocco is one of the most compromise options for the front-wheel drive sports coupe for every day adapted for operation in a wide variety of temperature and road conditions.
