The name of the new hot hatch from Volkswagen Scirocco sounds very modern and more than the chlest. But few people from the new generation of car enthusiasts are known for the fact that the history of the car and its name stems from the distant seventies, and to be more accurate, then from 1974.

There is a myth that the scirocco was only a variation on the first generation Golf, but this is not so: Golf I became available for buyers only a few months after the start of sales Scirocco.

Our meeting with Sirocco took place a little later than the start of sales of the model. And let it be not in the classic green color. But we must notice that the red color got us is no less attractive, but in some moments and very more winning.

The interior decoration does not shine futuristic solutions, it still has one hundred percently verified ergonomics, slightly arched harsh sports elements, such as a three-spoke steering wheel with pleasant and functional tides in the region of grip and the bevelled lower part, very convenient anatomical buckets capable of keeping you in acute turns and non-tiring in long-distance movements.

On the gallery will be able to accommodate two adult passengers, but it is two, since the rear row is molded and between the seats there is a rather tangible ascent, which will not allow to boot through the third. All used materials used by tradition are pleasant to the touch, and the details are distinguished by a magnificent fit.

 
The magnificent, the rapid silhouette of Scirocco is successfully seasoned with 10-spoke disks of the impressive diameter. Clean lines, nothing superfluous.

It's time to go to the technique. Cirocco is based on the VW Golf GTI of the fifth generation.

The wheelbase of these cars remained identical to 2578 millimeters, but the new Scirocco got a wider track, 35 millimeters wider in front and 59 from behind, thanks to which it looks like so broadly.

For buyers in Russia, only two power units are available: 2.0 TSI and 1.4 TSI, developing 200 and 122 hp. Accordingly, both engines are aggregated by a branded preselective transmission with two clutches (DSG), a 6-speed modification of a robotic box is supplied for a 2-liter motor, and for 1.4 - 7-speed DSG. And only for a car with a motor 1.4, you can select a 6-speed mechanical transmission.

 
The access of passengers to the second row of seats is difficult, but it is quite expected and tolerant. But the rear sofa itself has a good place of space for 2 passengers of medium-sized dimensions.

We visited the test with the engine 1.4 TSI with a capacity of 160 hp. and transmissia DSG. Such a tandem accelerates the sirog to hundreds in 8 seconds. This is quite enough for dynamic movement around the city and leaves a completely sufficient stock with a quick movement along the track. However, the delivery of this version to Russia was discontinued in favor of the 122-strong TSI engine. Replacing the powerful and dynamic motor is obviously weaker, and even in the car, which the company is positioning as a sports, - agree, at least a strange decision.

Having become wider than its Golf GTI donor and lower at 97 millimeters, Sirroco acquired more complied reactions on the steering wheel. Almost ideal turning is also achieved at the expense of a completely configured chassis. The car is unquestioned by turning the steering wheel, clearly describing the given trajectory, which sometimes even tires: everything is accurately correct and clearly. Without a light. But it is precisely such confidence in its actions and is necessary to a potential buyer.
 
Added to all the above-described perky shootings from a skillful exhaust exhaust when switching gear, we get an ideal car for young and ambitious persons who are not burdened with numerous family and other domestic troubles, dictating the need to buy more practical cars.
