Volkswagen Scirocco test drive since 2008 hatchback

On every day

Volkswagen Ssirocco Available Sports for every day of the year, says an official press release. I had objections about the sports car, some doubts about the available, but I completely agree with the definition for every day. The release of positive emotions is provided even in winter. At least in Portugal, even behind the polar circle.

Once again I end up in Ivalo on tests of new winter tires, and once again I notice the new Volkswagen in tested tires. In February last year (6 months before the start of Russian sales), I found Tiguan in Lapland. In January of this year, I came across Scirocco ... icy, frozen, covered with a snowstorm. In general, a strange picture to see Sportsup at the highest point of Lapland (with the name Huippu, which is notonentized for the Russian ear), surrounded by ice, snow and opaque frosty air.
He got behind the wheel of an icy dark blue car for one single purpose: to understand why Volkswagen, which has a 250-horsepower all-wheel drive Golf R32, release a less powerful compartment? Is it all about a new design? Or maybe Scirocco steers as not a single Golf can?
One hundred percent! I know this even before the launch of the motor, just picking up the steering wheel with tides in the area in the area of \u200b\u200bthe academic grip and dropping into wide tight -sided seats. The key is a pity, not a button for start. Aluminum perforated pedals down. Instead of a ratio of spikes on the asphalt, the signal of the enabled anti -circus system and the idle envelope of the front wheels. On a full -wheel drive car, I probably would be calmer here ...
In addition to the steering wheel and chairs, only triangular door handles and the same shape shape in the walls of the central tunnel are distinguished by the SCIROCCO interior from the sixth Golf. They are here too, in Lapland. And they also serve models for tires, but I have no time for a close acquaintance with the six. This is quite enough so that the model is not in the shadow of the donor of the platform. But the sports car interior seemed to me more athletic, or something. Finishing, devices more original. At least a few Scirocco wool - and the salon would look different. And with the release of GTI in the latest version, the difference in their interiors will be reduced only to the dubious triangular door handles.
But in the back seat it turned out to be more spacious than I expected: a colleague tall above 182 cm without discontent was located in one of two available places, not resting his head against a seeming low roof. This means that scirocco is not only for sports, but also suitable for transport purposes. Nevertheless, the rapid body profile was reflected in the volume of the luggage compartment: it contains almost 60 liters less than Golf. But we will be fair if there is a need to transport a large-sized cargo, you can put the rear passengers by turning the sofa into a part of the plane floor of the 755-liter trunk.
Well, God with him, with the interior, because Siro is a classic hot hatch, except that is decorated in a modern way. In the era of GTI and GSI, there was little the interior could surprise with the spectacular design of the cabin. Personally, Volkswagen’s statement configures me in a positive way that other models of the company will be completed in the Sirocco style. So the wide central air intake, a rapid silhouette and predatory squint, perhaps the next generations of sedans and Vanen will go
In some countries in Europe, in standard SCIROCCO configuration, an adaptive ACC suspension like the new Passat SS. But on my test car, shock absorbers and springs are ordinary. However, I did not regret at all: it almost does not shake in Sirokko, the energy intensity of the suspension does not bring blows to the body, the rolls are absent, and the power control is extremely accurate and acute. Golf did not stand nearby. I peer hopefully into the distance in search of steep turns, but the highway as luck would have it nowhere. On the way to the purpose of the Test World training landfill - only a few smooth bends of the track, and other cars will already be on the winding ice highway
A two -liter 200 -horsepower turbo engine paired with a dual DSG transmission is a combination that is trite to praise, and there’s simply nothing to criticize. Tandem is lucky just like in Audi TT or Seat Leon FR: persistently, quickly, timely. It is not surprising that here, under the hood, Scirocco DSG perfectly replaces the transmission, with incredible accuracy selecting engine speeds when decreasing. Even the arrow of the tachometer does not have time to smoothly change the position: with a change in speed, it soars upside down or breaks down. And in the sports mode of the checkpoint, spitting on the economy of the checkpoint holds the tachometer arrow in the maximum torque zone, reducing the gear at the right time and without need without switching to increased. SCIROCCO's dynamics is enviable. The main thing is that the tires have something to cling to the road and then even snow and ice will not become an obstacle for quick and exciting driving.
I got out of the steering wheel of a dark blue compartment with the same feeling as before the trip. Why Scirocco? Volkswagen has released a competitor Audi TT, Seat Leon FR and most importantly to your own Golf GTI. Yes, Sirokko has a pneumatic suspension, but GTI can also get it, besides, it seemed to me that this is not particularly necessary. Audi TT is much more expensive, but Golf VI GTI and Seat Leon FR will most likely be more accessible to Scirocco. Skirocco is also a great sports car with a sports car, but there is a racing version of GT24, or Golf R-series. But sometimes the degree of sports (and as a result - popularity) determines the appearance. And with this, Sirocco is definitely all right ...
