A full-fledged test of domestic SUVs in itself was until recently difficult due to the lack of competing brands. There was only one company in his native Fatherland that produced serious UAZ jeeps. Of course, Simbir and Hunter have gone quite far from their 469th prototype, but the traditions of rolling imply the competition of brands, and such a case introduced himself.
There is no word derway in the English dictionary. The name of the brand is a connection of the first three letters of the name of the president of the company (tree) and the English word Ways (roads). The first private automotive company in Russia produces jeeps on the Circassian Automobile Plant built in a clean field under the city. About three hundred cowboys have already been sold.
Structurally, both cars are distinguished by the frame and the rear unreasonable bridges on the springs. UAZ Hunter has a spring bridge in front, and the cowboy is assembled on an elongated frame and suspension Aro Military (Crosslander 244). The front suspension of the Romanian cart is a spring with double levers. Derways is equipped with a five -speed KP and an ARO handout, and the Ulyanovsk SUV Arzamas box with a turned algorithm and a new small -modular handout with one lever.

And all would be nothing, but it is acceleration, or rather, the shift of the programs became the main disadvantage of our subjects. Moreover, both SUVs equally asked their drivers difficult tasks.
With a standard transmission inclusion algorithm, the efforts on the handle of the ARO CP arise that the first gear has to stick out with a run, touching, as in ancient trucks, first synchronizers of the second. With the same tank effort, all other speeds are also included. Honestly, I was always afraid to break the handle. Representatives of the plant assured that the boxes are better on other cars, but we evaluate what we see.
Compared to the Romanian unit, a KP made in Arzamas pleases the ease of turning on, the clarity of work and the lack of noise. But who came up with such an algorithm?! The idea is clear to place the first and back on one straight reverse when swinging is fast and unmistakable. But the familiar movement from the second to the third inevitably turns on the fifth speed developed for decades.
But all that needs to be mirroring even transmissions with odd ones, and the usual, correct movements, similar, for example, the statter zil box, will restore. Was it necessary to invent such a continuous rebus a question for the designers.
These annoying and, in our opinion, completely eliminated defects are the only serious shortcomings of SUVs.
ASPHALT. CONTROLLABILITY
We will not hide, the Circassian Gelendauger aroused particular interest. A full -size all -terrain vehicle with a lever front suspension demonstrated high smoothness and stable movement in a straight line. The jeep easily and without a trace swallows any irregularities. UAZ stopped continuously scouring, eagerly obeyed the helm, although it needs to correct the original path, for example, after shakes on medium bumps and longitudinal irregularities. The Romanian rear bridge with locking helps, but DerWays has a low exhaust tract and a strange bottom protection, bent down after leaving the snowdrift.

ERGONOMICS
How many wolf do not feed ..., and even more so a hunter for this wolf ... The utilitarian asceticism of the UAZ interior is not even upset, but a strange approach to what should be improved and what is not. It is difficult to unlock and move with two hands even standing in place of the main sign of the changed body, the sliding windows, inserted into the plastic frames. Old rotary were at least functionally suitable. At the same time, door handles with locks are convenient and easily unlock/lock.
All the new instrument panels we have seen frankly scared with their forms. The old panel (as in the photo) looks the most harmonious, although it has neither an ashtray nor a place for a receiver.
The seats in the car we got were equipped even by adjusting the lumbar backup, but all, without exception, who were sitting on them, wanted to raise the seat higher. This is impossible to do. Only forward. But the backs of the back row are separately adjusted along the slope.
The middle of the windshield is categorically lacking in warm air. The driver's brush endlessly draws unstable snow from this zone, and leaves it exactly before the driver's eyes. In this case, the window in the rear door is equipped with a cleaner and washer. UAZ simple external mirrors are lost at every claping door. The speedometer is blocked by the steering wheel with a steering wheel and a lever of the wipers, although the rest of the devices are read perfectly.

There was even more compromises in the cowboy than in the hunter. Thanks to this, DerWays covers a larger sector of demand and has a chance to stay on the market.
UAZ in a fairly narrow segment has a serious advantage, due to the simplicity of the developed structure and the prevailing image. With the existing cost difference, Hunter will also find buyers, but there are fewer unpretentious connoisseurs of brutal iron every day.
If you follow the thesis in the heading of the material, then in the evolution of domestic jeep construction should soon come an era of SUVs-Events. Maybe this would be for the better, if you recall that the famous Land Rover Defender appeared as a swing tractor, which is why the name received Earthly. However, the Patriot is called the new UAZ presented to the public. Whether the Patriotic impulse will raise the Ulyanovsk all-terrain vehicle to the desired level will tell time and, to some extent, future tests.
