The start of the PEUGEOT 3008 production took place in 2009. And now the reason to pay attention to the model was the output of the Hybrid4 version with a diesel-electrical drive. First in the world! I got acquainted with the research of French engineers, going to the test of the novelty in Brittany.

Why did no one make hybrids with diesel before? The solution has been asked for a long time, because diesel engines have a larger efficiency than gasoline engines, have excellent thrust at low and medium speeds, moreover, heavy fuel is cheaper. There are two main problems with the implementation.

The first is the need to increase the endurance and resource of the turbocharger. But it is worthwhile to tap the gas in more or less, as the 3008th immediately receives a bad kick and an inevitable wave of acceleration. Suddenly. The turbodiesel woke up! Is there a joke? Two liters, 163 hp At 3850 rpm and 300 Newton meters in the range of 17503500 revolutions! You do not expect such dynamics from the car. When both engines are involved, acceleration to 100 km/h occupies all 8.5 seconds. And this is with a mass of 1660 kilograms. A conventional version with a similar diesel and automatic weighs 1539 kg and accelerates more slowly in 9.7 seconds. True, the maximum speed of the latter is higher than 195 km/h against 191 for a hybrid.


The multimedia system includes navigation, it is able to work with many peripheral devices and indicate the modes of the hybrid drive. The monitor has an electric drive, it is a pity that the lower line is not visible from the driver's seat, it is blocked by the edge of the panel, a clear ergonomic blunder

The suspension on Hybrid4 is reconfigured, so 121-kilogram growth in standard movements is not felt at all. Comfort at a constant level, the rolls, as before, moderate, efforts of feedback on the steering wheel, reaction rate, and the efficiency of braking everything, like the usual 3008th. It is nice to drive this car. Only at the limit, when I begin to provoke a skid in a speedy turn, you feel that inert food with additional ballast is about to go into the dance. After all, the behind the main transmission, differential and half -sunny, and the battery, and a multi -leaf suspension on the subframe (in the usual front -wheel drive, a semi -volatile beam specially designed for Hybrid4). But no, a strict system of dynamic gliding stabilization extinguishes already in the bud.

The rear multi -link suspension with an electric power unit is mounted on a steel subframe. And what happens when the battery is devastated? The hybrid moves exclusively due to diesel. At the same time, the battery is recharged from the traction electric motor during braking and from an 8-kilowth generator (he is also a starter), which is given from the internal combustion engine. So even with an empty battery, the thrust on the back axis will be supplied if necessary! But the accelerated dynamics in this case will deteriorate a little, the hybrid at the diesel engine gets in 9.2 seconds (I remind you, a lighter standard diesel version with the robot, this exercise does even more slowly in 9.7 seconds).

If the fuel ends, there is a chance to get to the column, but provided that it is not far. With a pair of passengers and a belongings on board, our hybrid on a flat road without a diesel engine at a speed of 50-55 km/h lasted 3.2 kilometers (4 are declared in the characteristics). Accordingly, if you move on the rise, the electrical range is greatly reduced.

And what about efficiency? With a pair of adult men and baggage, the average consumption of diesel fuel in a dough dough mode with long high -speed straight lines and frequent accelerations to the floor was 7.4 liters (according to the passport 3.8)! This is a great result for a 1660-kilogram car with such a dynamics. It was not even in thoughts that there was no specially bred and saved. The climate worked all the way, and I was not modest with gas. For the sake of the experiment, he traveled around the city. If you move properly and the arrangement of not a stake, but also without interfering with low speed, the consumption falls to the four liters per hundred stated in the city. That is the strength of the hybrid.

What happens on a solid coating and in the city, we figured out. Now let's see how Hybrid4 behaves outside the road. I did not have the opportunity to check the drive in loose snow or ice. But I found a country road, where it was possible to simulate diagonal hanging.

So, Auto mode. Under the small gas I touch the electric vehicle and run around the front left wheel on the soil shaft. The rear left wheel breaks a little from the ground and, hanging, begins to spin idly. I stop and roll back. I give more gas, the situation is repeated, but now that the 3008th rested on an obstacle, the electronics understands that the electrics in order to move on is not enough. The diesel engine is also connected to action. Further, the matter goes more fun, the wheels, although they are hung out, but now the moment was stuck on both axles.

The difference is small. But, for example, in the same France it is legally established that when buying a hybrid, the state returns to you 2000 euros. The French company is still silent about Russian prospects. But there is a news about China for the Middle Kingdom Peegeot is now preparing a 3008 Hybrid4 version with a gasoline engine.

With intensive acceleration, both engines work together.

When driving or inhibition of the internal combustion engine moves, and the traction electric motor goes into the generator mode and recharges the traction battery. The battery charge, if necessary (for example, with complete discharge after a long parking), can also be replenished from the generator combined with the ICE. If for some reason the electric part refused, the car moves due to the heat engine.

The advantages of a hybrid in operating conditions, which involve long -term movement with constant speeds, come to naught. When there is no braking (as in the urban cycle), there is no energy that can be stained and used again. Consequently, the electrical equipment of the drive of the motor-generator, the battery, power electronics, high-voltage wires, etc. They turn into unnecessary ballast, which only increases fuel consumption.

Hybrids are always more expensive than similar cars with DIC drive. The higher price of the economy of the hybrid is compensated after only a few years. It all depends on the conditions and intensity of operation. The best environmental friendliness of hybrids is also in question, since it is not yet a fact that the saved fuel overlaps damage inflicted by a more complex production process. But the most non -ecological component of the drive is the battery little to produce it, it still needs to be disposed of.
