Mazda CX-7 test drive since 2009 SUV

Mazda CX-7 VS Peugeot 4007 Test drive: glossy SUVs

PEUGEOT 4007 is produced in Kaluga - this allowed it to include it in the disposal program. Meanwhile, more than 4,000 Russians have chosen more than 4,000 Russians who did not use any Russian benefits last year, while the 4007th is less than 2,000. Kolesa.ru is trying to figure out why the expensive crossover is twice as accessible.

Mazda considers the Peugeot 4007 as one of the competitors of the CX-7, as explicitly stated in the branded brochure attached to journalists to the test seven. But the employees of the Peugeot dealership somewhat rounded their eyes, learning with whom Kolesa.ru plan to compare their all -wheel drive. And in vain, even before the test, we knew that the Frenchman had a chance to win in the test. Moreover, given the advantage in price.

The difference in the cost of Mazda CX-7 and Peugeot 4007 of almost 200 thousand rubles presented in the test (who did not understand Mazda more expensive). However, both cars are presented in maximum versions, and Mazda is also with a package of complementary equipment by almost 60 thousand. But the comparison is quite correct: the basic CX-7 costs only 35,000 rubles more than the top peugeot top, and not inferior to it in configuration.

Outside
In front, crossovers are similar to each other: a wide smile of the central air intake, vertical loopholes along the edges of the front bumper with foglights, chrome emblems on the nose. But in the profile and behind, these are completely different cars in vain that both are on five -spoke disks with a remotely similar pattern. The Mazda profile is more streamlined, haggard. Hence the visual swiftness of the station wagon, which appears more likely a hatchback bloated from its own importance than practical and utilitarian transport.

Peugeot on the contrary; He has a sharp transition from the edge of the roof to the luggage door characteristic of the station wagons. This is what cars of increased cross -country ability, spaciousness and slowness look like. But more on that later.

Both parquets are not deprived of chrome. Moreover, this was not characteristic of Mitsubishi Outlander XL (it was this car that became a donor for creating 4007), nor the Drestyling version of the CX-7. The seven in the Sport configuration received a chrome edging of the radiator grille and fog headlights, the overlays on the back door and thresholds were covered with shiny paint. PEUGEOT 4007 shines chromium in the foglights for fog heads, around the front air intake and along the window sill. Fashion for gloss?

Inside
Only the lazy car journalist did not recall Mitsubishi Outlander XL, sitting in the salon of the 4007th or Citroen C-Crosser. Yes, the salons of all three (Mitsubishi, Peugeot and Citroen) really differ only by nameplate on the steering wheel. And enough about it.

Having survived restyling, the inner world of Mazda CX-7 has not changed stylistically, except that more expensive materials still strengthened the sensation of the high cost that the Japanese interior conveys. The Peugeot salon visually and tactfully feels simpler in execution.

An attempt to get a job reveals another difference: the steering wheel in Mazda is adjusted by inclination and departure, and in Peugeot only by inclination. But for a person of average or slightly higher than average height, it is convenient to sit in any of the cars. And the legs are slightly bent, and the hands reach. For the completeness of comfort in both crossovers, the seats are electro -regulation. Unless in Mazda there is also a memory of settings in two positions.

By expanse on the front seats, it is difficult to identify the leader; It is convenient enough in both cars. That's just Mazda’s seats lacks side support, the editorial staff who participated in long trips on the seven complained about fatigue in the back. 4007 holds the posture stronger.

In the nomination, the back row of seats is firmly leading the PEUGEOT 4007. Firstly, it has more space left for the feet of passengers. Secondly, the rear sofa is not only divided in a proportion of 60-40, but each of the parts can be moved back and forth. The seats are easily folded: it is worth pulling the strap, and first the backs of the seats will meet with pillows, and then the whole chair will lean forward, releasing a whole airfield in the trunk for planting freight helicopters. The trunk 4007, by the way, as in Outlander, opens partially due to the rear door, partially folding side. Conveniently!

In Mazda, the backs of the rear seats also lean back in separateness, forming something reminiscent of an even floor. But the CX-7 is less suitable for transporting large televisions, small refrigerators and other coarse bars, although the volume of the luggage compartment and considerable: 850 liters of cargo fit when loaded to the ceiling with the rear seats raised, and if they are folded, 1,348 liters will include the seven.

On my way
On the even and smooth asphalt, Mazda seems to be out of competition. According to the speed of moving in space with the Mazda SX-7 and its 2.3-liter turbo engine, it is difficult to compete with only a 170-horsepower 2.4 with a variator that significantly softened accelerating dynamics. However, when you look at the new monochrome display CX-7, on which fuel consumption is now taken out, you understand what speed you will have to pay. Appetite, you understand ... And also Peugeot 4007 can be made anteroplative, but the seven is not. Therefore, on a ring road or on the highway, Mazda spends at least 12 liters of gasoline, and Peugeot from 8. Do you feel the difference? Exactly. When we counted gasoline checks for refueling Mazda for a month of operation, we didn’t say thank you to the accounting department

Mazda is more interesting to drive: reactions are faster, the rolls are more inconspicuous, and the general nature of controllability brings the seven closer to sedans and hatchbacks than with SUVs and crossovers. In terms of smoothness, 4007 is very little behind the opponent. The Frenchman reacts a little tougher to large irregularities and sways more. In addition, moving on an ex-outlet, we began to find hitherto unknown bumps on familiar roads

The brakes are clearer and more effective in Peugeot. They seemed to be taken from a much more powerful car 4007 as a dug, while in the SX-7, even for a smooth stop, the right leg needs to be made more efforts.

Prices
In the test version of the Allure Peugeot 4007 with a 2.4 liter engine (170 hp) with a variator costs 1,124,000 rubles. This includes 6 airbags, ABS, a steering column adjustable in height, rudder of the steering wheel, external rear-view mirrors with electric drive and heating, heating the front seats, the driver’s seats, the MP3 CD CDA-Disci (6 CDs).

The base price of Mazda CX-7 in the Touring configuration starts from 1,239,000 rubles. This amount is asked for a 2.3-liter turbocharged engine with a capacity of 238 hp. With a machine gun. This version has frontal and lateral pillows, side curtains of safety, ABS, EBD, steering column adjustable by departure and angle of inclination, rear -view mirrors with electric and heating, a driver's seat with adjustable lumbar support and adjustment in height and angle of inclination , route computer, CD player with mp3 function.

If you choose from two cars, you need to answer the question for yourself: are you really going to enjoy the sharp accelerations every day, from the follow -up of the responsive chassis, from turning the turn over the bend? Yes? And are you ready to pay for this a higher price and increased fuel consumption? Then your version of Mazda CX-7. If the crossover is an economical, affordable and functional transport of increased cross -country ability, then the road to the Peugeot dealer is dear to you.

P.S. We compared the CX-7 with the same SUV, however, losing in power and dynamics. In the near future, Kolesa.ru will report on another Mazda sparring, this time against a compact crossover more prepared for off -road.
