Comments:

Vel Satis was the second Renault car (the first was the Laguna), received from Euro NCAP five-star rating. The maximum number of points was scored in side impacts and at a head shot only two points. Experts pointed out that the double pretensioners significantly reduce the risk of damage to the driver's feet, as limited movement of his body forward in a frontal impact. Both children were well protected, and their seats comply with all requirements of Euro NCAP. However, pedestrian protection was very poor. The manufacturer should give this matter more attention.

Front punch:

Front airbags are inflated in two stages, providing better protection with tight collisions. The sensor also defines the driver size and adjusts the power of detonation. This, as well as a strong car body and a slight shift of the steering column, provided the driver with a sufficient volume of living space. Renault tried to protect his knees and hips as best as possible, but the experts considered that the steering column still threatens to the left knee, and removed one score. The deepening of the driver's feet is slightly deformed. The central seat of the seat is equipped with a three-point seat belt, providing some better protection compared to the waist.

Security of passenger children:

The manufacturer received a positive feedback for clear warnings about the inadmissibility of the installation of a children's chair "against the direction of movement" opposite the active airbag of the front passenger. Renault Kiddy EasyFix armchairs used special attachment points in the seats of the car. An armchair for the older child also had an upper strap for fastening it to the back of the seat. The chair for the 18-month passenger was equipped with a stand for stopping the floor. The heads of both passengers were well protected in all collisions.

Side strike:

The protection system at the side of the side turned on the side airbags and the curtains for the heads of passengers of both rows. The car scored the maximum number of points.

Pedestrian safety:

The front of the car is very rigid, traumatic, and only small areas of the hood provided at least some kind of protection.
