In fact, the name has nothing to do with the plant world. Liana is an abbreviation from the English Life in a New Age, which means life in the new century. You can understand this so that here it is, a fundamentally new car worthy of a modern Tarzan trying to survive in the stone jungle of a modern city. Since Suzuki Liana is one hundred percent city car.

But, having got acquainted with the car closer, we are ready to recognize him with a universal with some features of the minivan - more vertical, urban landing and a higher roof. From a real modern mini- or just Van, we still expect more comfort: first of all, for passengers, in the second- for their things.
Sitting in Liana is convenient for the driver, front passenger and two rear. The third passenger, who is in the middle, is forced to stay in the germ pose, hoisting his legs on the central tunnel (we experienced an all -wheel drive version). It is not accepted in minivans - all manufacturers have long been making the floor even. True, their cars are front -wheel drive.
Modern minivan is inconceivable without the abundance of messes, pockets and folding tables. Suzuki Liana does not indulge with such delights. A little by little: narrow pockets in the doorway, a couple of cup holders, a modest glove compartment. There is nowhere to place the rest of the property.
But the trunk of Liana turns into a huge luggage compartment, if you fold the rear seats. Their backs form a perfectly even cargo space. In the standard position, the luggage volume is 480 liters, in the larger Renault Scenic - 410 liters. So after all, we are right-rather, this is a station wagon.
 
Body braid. At the first glance at Liana, tarzanii did not break out of our sip. Still, the car looks quite trivial. The unusualness is given to him by small windows in the front doors and a rather original design of the back - a massive bumper and a kind of fifth door with a huge glass. We could appreciate this design by handing over. The overview is great. But otherwise - an ordinary station wagon with a slightly raised roof line.
In general, we got the impression that in Japan they carefully read our car press with passages regarding the squinting of the oriental auto design. Perhaps that is why Suzuki Liana did a cosmetic operation to eliminate this drawback, but the indicators of the turns integrated into the block fara turned out to be too long-eyed and give the car the unusual appearance of the Japanese who was in the hands of a cosmetologist surgeon.
Thanks to the high line of the roof and the massive rear bumper Liana looks very impressive on the road. Only now 14-inch wheels do not fit into the overall style a little. In such shoes, the car resembles a medieval Japanese woman - a magnificent hairstyle, a kimono and ... miniature legs shod in tiny sandals. It is not clear why our dealers prefer such a complete set - the car also comes to European markets with 195/55 R15 wheels. Obviously saving. However, the price of Liana deserves a separate story.
Option Scroll. Probably, sellers need to have reason to offer $ 17.5 thousand for $ 17.5 thousand. The car, which was essentially built on the basis of the Boleno station wagon, which we did not use much success. Having climbed inside Liana, let's try to figure out what is the matter.
Some automakers take extra money for the original interior. In Liana, all originality (for Suzuki) is enclosed in the dashboard. A narrow oblique display on which analog devices are not visible. To the right and left are blocks of control lamps. Between them-bright orange digital speedometer and tachometer, fuel level indicators and antifreeze temperature. That's all the originality, which, for example, the same Frenchmen have been operating for many years. All other devices and handles can generally be called a classic of the genre.
But on the other hand, Liana has everything. Well, or almost everything that is not typical for non -operating Suzuki models. The basic configuration includes: air conditioning, ABS, a full electric package, including heating of seats and mirrors, a central lock and an immobilizer. Moreover, Liana installed not only frontal airbags, but also lateral ones. But the steering wheel regulated only in the vertical plane and elementary audio training look a little strange against the background of such a package.
The interior decoration is solid and even beautiful thanks to the now -fashionable combination of beige and black, as well as combinations of good plastic and fabrics of various textures. But nothing more. Nothing revolutionary in form, for which you can take extra money.
 
Ring -out skill. Additional money is not only possible, but it is also necessary to take a thing in our climate, such as all -wheel drive. In Liana, it is implemented through a multi-disc clutch-muffle in the rear wheels drive. This means that a truly all-wheel drive car becomes only at the time of slipping the front wheels. That is, on wet asphalt or in the snow. As a light jeep, a car with a clearance of 150 mm and an engine of 103 hp. Use, to put it mildly, unreasonable. In any other situation, the behavior of Liana is similar to the behavior of a front -wheel drive car. She confidently and quickly starts from the traffic light, carefully and clearly fits into steep turns.
But in pleasure, we could not refuse a little fuck and headed for a long-noted sand and gravel path in an empty Moscow park. We tried to squeeze a little on it - some cars glide on a fine sand like along ice. Some, but not Liana. Even when simulating a sharp turn under the traction, the car moved along a clearly planned trajectory and did not seek to go out of turn. Not a millimeter. It can be assumed that in the fall, on the day of the tin, the owner of Liana will feel a stranger at this holiday.
A whip of butt ... Full -wheel drive is, first of all, security. In the second - comfort. The more calm the driver feels at the wheel, the fewer irritating factors around him, the more positive emotions from driving a car. And here serious claims appear to Liana - for that kind of money some stimuli could be eliminated.
Firstly, the rear gear is fuzzy. Several times we felt like real teapots when sharp grinding sounds came from our Liana when trying to get in reverse.
 
Secondly, the cabin is noisy. When moving at high speeds, the engine grins openly annoyingly. Despite the closed windows and the whistle of the air conditioner. When moving the relay by rolling, it goes to the suspension. Even during the conversation you can hear how tires are polished not too flat asphalt, how the suspension counts all the cracks and irregularities with all its bones. In the normal city cycle - a speed of about 60 km/h, the turnover of about 2500 - these sounds merge into an illegible dialogue. A little muffled, but still annoying. So, you need to put a powerful audio system.
Thirdly, it seemed to us that Liana had a weak clutch: the first time was pulled by burning when we tried to crawl over the border on the lawn-which you won’t take for the sake of a good picture. The second time - when Liana stopped on a steep ramp in front of the car dealership. Maybe twice in a row is still an accident? Or did the car come across indestructible? ..
 
However, Suzuki Liana has practically no competitors in our market. All cars in the style of 4-Matic, Quattro and Synhro are more expensive. Fully minivans - even more so. And class C station wagons are usually monopoly and have a simple complete set. So Liana definitely will find a worthy place in the stone jungle.
