What will be life in the new century? Suzuki Motor experts already know the answer: their new UPV Liana is nothing more than an encrypted forecast for the near future.

It sounds great, but the pathos in the name is justified only half, because The novelty is based on the platform and units of the well -known Suzuki Baleno station wagon. As for the second half, progress is evident. The almost single -combed Suzuki Liana body is optimal in terms of practicality. In addition, rational forms and sizes do not prevent the car from looking attractive. Due to its high growth, Liana provides maximum convenience during landing. The cordiality with which the car meets any of the passengers becomes reproach for ordinary cars. The spacious salon is filled with light penetrating through large windows, and this increases even more - visually.
 
The seats of the vertical configuration are not bad, especially the front ones. But behind the clue was found. Probably, for the sake of increasing the space for the legs (there is plenty of it here), the rear sofa pillow was done several already than we would like. The significance of this circumstance depends on the duration of the trip, but the first three hours do not occur. You can also put up with the cargo position of the back seats when they are fixed at right angles to the pillow. This allows you to increase the number of bags transported in the trunk. If you fold the seat completely, it will be possible to introduce something like a washing machine to hand luggage.
 
The neat interior is characterized by an accurate fitting of elements made of inexpensive, but high -quality materials. The front panel is concise and very peculiar. The avant -garde symmetry of the torpedo is perfectly combined with an elegant steering wheel, the hub of which is framed by aluminum.
 
The liquid -crystalline instrument shield at first seems not visible enough, but the fears are disappeared along the way: all the information is in sight and easily read. Moreover, a large digital speedometer allows you to control the speed much more accurately than ordinary, switch.

Our Liana is driven by a 1.6-liter 103-horsepower engine, which in combination with a four-speed automatic allows you to combine useful with a pleasant one-to quickly move in space with maximum convenience of control.
 
Thanks to good accelerated dynamics (12 seconds to hundreds), the 1200-pound machine shows vigor during the start from the traffic lights. In any case, two -thirds of the neighbors on the street stream are left behind. Automatic transmission works smoothly, without delay and shocks, like a stray variator.
 
The motor only votes on the fast and intensive acceleration. In the usual, measured Liana mode, it is almost silent. Its appetite is moderate - on an average of 8.3 liters of gasoline, a 100 km of track is consumed, which with a 50 -liter tank provides prolonged autonomous swimming.
 
On dry asphalt of the all -wheel drive UPV does not differ in habits from the front -wheel drive car, because All the thrust sits on the front wheels. Liana behavior on wet, icing or snowy coating is stable and predictable. To bring down the car from the course, you have to try.
 
The off -road qualities of the novelty are also on top. We were convinced of this, easily moving on summer rubber along the loose muffled snow with a depth of about 25 cm.
 
A rather rigid suspension tolerates blows and shocks without consequences, but in order to comfortably drive along a broken road, you have to visually filter the coating. But in the turns of Liana it is unbiased. In the sense of the lack of rolls. And the brakes are good. But the steering wheel would be super in all indicators if zero were more clearly determined. The review from the car is great, thanks to not only large external mirrors, but also a circular transparency of the cabin.
 
For the price (our version costs $ 17400) Suzuki Liana is comparable to the mass of ordinary, similarly equipped hatchbacks, although its capabilities - due to the body layout and all -wheel drive - are much wider. For many families, this machine can really become one of the guidelines of life in the new century.
