Subaru Impreza test drive since 2007 sedan
Comparative test drive: Nissan Qashqai 2.0 4WD and Subaru Impreza 2.0r
The new Impreza from a specialist in creating an all -wheel drive Subaru is ideal for traveling on ice and snow. The current third generation for Europe is available only in the form of a hatchback, under the hood of which a traditional opposition engine is installed. How can a beginner withstand competition with the experienced Nissan Qashqai?Body and equipment
Compared to the previous model, the new Impreza has become tangibly more spacious. In her salon, four adults feel quite comfortable, there is even a place for long legs of passengers in the back seat. Qashqai is ready to offer an even more spacious interior.
The glass panoramic roof mounted in the Nissan tested (it costs 750 euros to equip Acenta, for the TEKNA set in a set of serial equipment), leaves very little space over the head for high people, but more convenient forms of the salon give passengers much more freedom of movement. And when transporting bulky goods, you will certainly appreciate the advantages of Nissan. The back door opens widely, and the luggage compartment can accommodate from 410 to 1,513 liters of things (Subaru from 301 to 1 216 liters). However, Subaru is also ready to bring good arguments in its favor: a lower threshold of the luggage compartment, a flat surface of the bottom, as well as the possibility of transporting cargo weighing 511 kilograms (Qashqai 460 kg).
The safety of both candidates is ensured at the proper level of the ESP system and the airbags for the head are included in serial equipment. Nevertheless, there is no Subaru system for braking (Brake Assist), which has long been included in the list of necessary equipment. This drawback significantly reduces the Subaru rating. The quality of the cars is also noticeably different. Although in terms of finishing, not any of the participants practically find fault, the Impreza interior with cheap solid plastic greatly worsens the positive impression of the car.
Comfort on the road
Both Subaru and Nissan are amazing at the surprisingly high level of comfort. Differences are insignificant. So, Subaru passes more smoothly through the patches and protracted waves of the roadway. And Qashqai, on the contrary, manifests itself better when overcoming short and rigid barriers, for example, road joints or drains, besides, it behaves quieter. The grunting of the Subaru opposite motor and the noise of the transmission will like only a real fan of the rally. But this Impreza flaw compensates for ideal forms, which are standard for the sports version.
But the small front seats Nissan'a provide too bad support. As for the rear seats, then the cars have changed the level of comfort: Subaru passengers in deep seats are inconvenient, you have to greatly bend their legs in the knees; Nissan can be reproached for an overly short surface of the seat of the legs remains almost without support.
Engine and transmission
Imreza two -liter opposition motor, of course, gives a significant gap from Qashqai during acceleration, but in general it is not strong enough. The Nissan's in a line engine has the same volume, but only 141 hp, that is, 9 horses are less than in Subaru. However, the Qashqai engine reacts faster to the control of the gas pedal, and the car rushes forward more confidently. At the same time, both engines are able to develop torque until 196 Nm. Subaru reaches this mark at 3,200 revolutions, a more competent Nissan at 4,800 revolutions.
If you need to accelerate instantly, on both cars you need to lower the gear by at least one step. It turns out to perform this action with a 6-speed Qashqai box more deftly than with a 5-mounted Impreza gearbox in Subaru, with jerks, and this is unlikely to give anyone pleasure.
But Subaru has an advantage when climbing a mountain or on a slippery surface: it is traditionally equipped with a lowering gearbox. Another reason for praise: having an average fuel consumption of 10 liters, Impreza more economically consumes fuel than Nissan, which requires half a liter more. But still, the appetites of both rivals can not be called modest.
Dynamics
While all four wheels are constantly rowing on Subaru, Nissan's all -wheel drive mode is turned on using a rotary regulator. Naturally, cars, the characteristics of which can be called non-road to some extent, do not need to fight for the victory in the race on the track, but it is here that you can perfectly evaluate their technical abilities.
Both the Japanese differ both when moving along the highway, and when completing a snake task. Nissan, in addition, demonstrates accurate control and fast alignment of the wheels with a released steering wheel. The obedient Subaru steering wheel works even more precisely, which, however, is not at all informative.
The running qualities of the test participants are almost the same. With the ESP system turned on, they obey the steering wheel worse. Electronic stabilization programs are quite sensitive and do not bother with their constant intervention. If you turn off the system of protection against drifts, on steep turns of the stocky duelists begins to be taken outward. ESP Nissan'a does not fully control the actions of the car, but brings its own adjustments only in case of emergency. Subaru braking can be compared with indicators of sports cars: both cold and warm -up brakes, moving at a speed of 100 km/h, it stops after 35.4 meters.
Prices
With the base value of 21,990 euros Impreza 2.0R, it is not only 850 euros cheaper than Qashqai 2.0 4WD, but also has a more complete set: the stock version is equipped with climate control and aluminum disks. In addition, according to the German automobile trust, Impreza will lose less in price after a certain life.
But the costs of maintenance are lower for Nissan (Subaru owner will have to change oil every 15,000 kilometers). And the warranty life of Qashqai is larger. The following advantages of the Nissan'a include its lower emission of harmful substances, as well as cheaper insurance. Ultimately, this is enough to win in this standings, albeit with a minimal margin.
Conclusion
As a result, the winner of the duel of compact all -wheel drive cars is Nissan, which surpasses its opponent in terms of three out of five offices. Qashqai bursts forward, first of all, due to the greater spaciousness of the cabin and the luggage compartment, a more competent and quiet motor and a high degree of security. Subaru is a little more profitable in price to offer the best equipment, an effective brake system and a relatively lower appetite. But the slowly reacting Opposite engine Impreza is not convincing at all. And it remains a mystery why Subaru still does not have a system for braking, which has long become standard equipment.
