What is Subaru for you? More than half will say that these are motorsport, powerful cars, all -wheel drive and turbocharged engines. Correctly. The merits of the Japanese Subaru company in the field of motorsport are difficult to overestimate. Cars with the constellation Taurus on the emblem have always been famous for powerful opposition engines, honed controllability and honest all -wheel drive. All these components only in more civilian form were able to transfer the company's engineers to mass models so that everyone could plunge into this separate world, whose name is Subaru.
The first generation of Subaru Impreza appeared in 1992. The novelty was built on a modified Legacy model and a year later replaced it in the World Rally Championship. After a series of victories in 1994, the company's management decided to start the mass production of the Impreza WRX STI model, which were close to the Subaru World Rally Team team in equipment.
In April 2007, a third-generation of Subaru Impreza, which became a completely new milestone in the history of the model, took place on an international auto-exhibition in New York. Firstly, the hatchback body appeared (it was decided to refuse the station wagon), and secondly, the novelty received a completely new body design and interior decoration. After a year and a half, the Russian premiere of Subaru Impreza in the sedan is in Moscow. Compared to the second generation of the Impreza 2008 model, it has become 115 mm longer, the wheelbase has grown 95 mm. Based on the security reasons, I had to abandon the frameless doors.

Holding in mind the sports achievements of Subaru and the popularity of charged models among ordinary motorists, we decided to stand out and take on the test the absolutely civilian version of Subaru Impreza in the back of the sedan with a 1.5-liter motor and automatic gearbox. Such an Impreza gives the impression of a completely ordinary average sedan. Neither a sports body kit, nor large 17 -inch discs, nor the air intake on the hood responsible for the cooling of the turbine - everything is simple, but concise.
The salon has boring gray plastic and hard plastic of the front panel, a simple design of a climatic installation and audio, but the new design revived the interior. Especially good are the inserts for the titanium, which adorn the torpedo and the facing of the doors. Yes, and you can’t do everything clearly to the dashboard, understandable in its place. The assembly quality is also excellent, but on irregularities, the plastic panel plays and small creaks are heard from the bowels. An unforgivable luxury for a car that has 1,500 km on the odometer. A convenient steering wheel bagel with the possibility of adjusting in two planes and the proximity of all important governing bodies compensate for the lack of bright design. The front seats are convenient, but nothing more. From ergonomic miscalculations, a small and inconvenient front armrest can be distinguished.
Provided that the front passengers are not basketball players, three adults will be able to fit on the back sofa, but in order to feel free, one will have to be planted. If the volume is not enough for a spacious trunk, then Subaru Impreza has a function of access to the trunk through the backs of the rear seats, which are folded in a proportion of 60:40 using special handles.
Everything is not clear to the dashboard, clear in its place. Climate installation is controlled using three simple handles made of cheap plastic. In our configuration on the steering wheel there were only Krue -Control keys - we have to reach for the audio system. The 4-speed automatic transmission Sportshit has good quickness and smooth switching, but only a 1.5-liter motor is clearly not enough for her.
Horizontal-opposition engine with a volume of 1.5 liters with a capacity of 107 hp. And the 4-band automatic transmission Sportshift does not promise decent acceleration dynamics. In fact, it turned out to be even worse. With a sharp press on the accelerator pedal, a meaningful pause follows and only then the impreza starts. I remember at the 230-horsepower Subaru Forester with a similar automatic machine there was no such delay, which means that it is in the motor.
In motion, the box smoothly and timely clicks between the steps. For sharp overtaking the potential of the engine is not enough, so the maneuver needs to be thought out in advance. When the machine is transferred to the sport mode, the situation changes slightly, the box holds the desired transmission to the last, however, when you press the gas, a 1.5-liter engine roars more than it goes. On the other hand, the basic version was created not for racing, but for a calm and economical ride around the city. And with this function, the Subaru Impreza technique copes with a bang. I was pleased and the consumption during calm driving it did not rise above 9.0 liters per hundred.
The front suspension with a proven design on the depreciation racks remained the same. The rear was processed, although the manufacturer prefers to call its scheme two -leaf, in fact, this is a modern multi -link. The passages of the pendants increased, which is why the rolls increased in corners and a small swing appeared. But Impreza simply does not notice the road trifle, and the irregularities swallow more with a large margin.
A spacious trunk, the scope on the gallery and a large glove make a Subru Impreza sedan quite a practical car.
Despite the comfortable settings of the chassis and 15-inch wheels (in the basic configuration), Subaru Impreza is still very well controlled. The turning trajectory is written perfectly. After all, even in the basic performance with a weak motor, the signature symmetrical all -wheel drive Subaru has no one canceled. When passing the turn on the verge of demolition, it is enough to add gas, and the rear outer wheel plunges the car to the correct path. The smoothness of the stroke also at the height of the paving stones and tram tracks of Impreza passes akin to the luxury crossover. The steering is in Subarovsky sharp and clear. A tight lamb has an excellent feedback and fully conveys the road atmosphere in the hands of the driver. Brakes without complaints.
Even in the basic version, a symmetrical all -wheel drive and a clear steering with excellent reverse stroke gives the impregnic a prosing in turns and on the slippery highway. It is impossible not to note the excellent smoothness of the paving stones and tram tracks of Impreza passes akin to the luxury crossover.
So, the basic Impreza showed that in Subaru they still make not only charged carriers with explosive temperament for desperate riders, but also calm economical cars with excellent handling and comfort. And all -wheel drive and well -tuned pendants give their owners confidence on any roads.

As it turned out, confidence costs money. Subaru Impreza 1.5R with automatic transmission, climate control, alloy 15-inch discs, a simple audio system, 6th safety pillows, ABS, fog lights and an electric poquet costs 826,700 rubles. For comparison, an all-wheel drive Mitsubishi Lancer X with a more powerful 2.0-liter engine and a variator in a similar configuration will cost 866,345 rubles, and the top 150-horsepower front-wheel drive Mazda3 with an automatic machine, a leather salon and an audio system Bose 854,000 rubles. If you level the engine capacity, Impreza hatchback with a 2.0-liter engine and automatic transmission is more expensive than its competitors by almost 100,000 rubles.
