Review of the new modification of Subaru Impreza in the sedan back. A truly practical car

Until recently, there were only hatchbacks in the Japanese line of Subaru Impreza, but now the sedan, which is called Impreza Anisis, has also been added to them. The car received an elongated rear trunk, it has a completely different body compared to his own brothers, so there is every reason to believe that he behaves differently on the go. How differently we asked to tell our journalist, who already managed to ride on the new Subaru.
The young sedan
In the automobile family Impreza, a 4-door Impreza Anesis sedan appeared. What is its external difference from other cars of the Impreza family? Well, firstly, he has massive rear racks, not the same as the hatchback, and secondly, the trunk was attached to him and, thus, the length of the machine increased by 165 mm. As for the wheelbase (2 620 mm), it remained the same, as well as the mass of the machine in the basic modification (1,230 kg).
All the latest hatchback models are distinguished by a sports appearance, which convincingly proves indisputable truth: the hatchback is intended primarily for young drivers. And if then a 4-door sedan is created on its base, then it can be given by many examples that becomes a kind of hatchback antipode, an example of solidity and tranquility. So, the Impreza lineup in this regard was no exception, however, you can’t call a new sedan very modest. Look: firstly, it has a wedge-shaped form, which emphasizes its determination, and secondly, go behind, and you will see not modest, deliberately increased rear lights. It seems to me that this sedan is not quite for young people, but, nevertheless, younger.
What else should be noted? The body of the sedan, compared with the hatchback, will iron more stylish, balanced. And even the spoiler, which is equipped with ANESIS 2.0 I-S top equipment, looks quite harmonious on the trunk lid.
Hard body
Before starting to move, I just sat in the cabin for some time to understand whether the motor is rustling or not. He came to the conclusion that no, does not make noise. At least, the noise in the cabin of a motionless car in the cabin is much less than in the hatchback. Okay, I'm touching and starting to gain speed. I was informed in advance that the suspension and wheels, in general, are the same as that of the hatchback, but the body at the rear turned out to be reinforced. And this, it must be noted, immediately made itself felt and largely predetermined my positive attitude towards everyone else in the car. The rear window is fixed tightly, so it vibrates less, the partition separating the interior from the engine compartment is perfectly insulated, this is why there is no such noise inside as in the hatchback, neither on the move, nor in the parking lot. It even seemed to me that the suspension was reinforced, although, I repeat, her changes did not affect.
Now turn to the back of the body. In the hatchback, one cannot do without an additional stiffener element, which, of course, weights the ass. The sedan has only a light rear trunk cover. Naturally, because of this, the center of gravity turned out to be slightly lower than that of the hatchback, hence a slightly better stability. In a certificate regarding the technical data of the new sedan, I did not find information about the weight of individual parts of the machine, so I can not give a full comparative alignment. The sedan holds better on a straight line, it swifts less, which, of course, makes it lighter and more convenient to control.
When we talk about the roll of the car while passing the turns, it is important to determine at what height the axis passes around which the body turns. It is worth noting that the hatchback is crumpled in such a way that he has this line in the rear it is located higher than in the front. In other words, it is at a certain angle to the surface of the road. As for the sedan, it has a roll axis is located almost parallel to the earth's surface, hence the difference in behavior. The back of the sedan is pressed against the road with great force, the desire of the car to return to the original position after passing the turn is stronger than you can imagine by external body proportions. It goes without saying that in a straight line, Anesis runs more confident than his brother hatchback.
The rotation of the controlled wheels from one dead point to the other occurs in three turns of the steering wheel, and for this much effort from the driver is not required. The distance between the intersection of the wheel rotation axis with the road and the center of the contact spot of the tire on the road is +10 mm, from which it follows that the wheels, turning, meet a rather active opposition from the road. And the steering gear ratio, albeit high, but without busting. In theory, if you made it even more, the front of the car would have changed the direction more agile, but then the steering control of the Anesis sedan would lose that naturalness, that naturalness that is now inherent in it. Due to all of the above, the turning center (that is, the center of the circle described by the wheels of the rotating machine) does not remain almost from behind, as is usually the case with modern front -wheel drive machines, but is closer to the middle. From this, at the bend, people inside are not much discomfort, and continue to sit straight.
Ordinary can also be in demand
The engine of the car 2.0 I-S develops the maximum power of 140 hp. And it gives out a torque of 19.0 kg-m. This is not to say that he made a too strong impression on me at high speeds, but in the interval from 2,000 to 3,000 it was easy to control him. Of course, a 4-cylinder opponent, standing along the chassis, has a tendency to increased vibration, but at least it does not throw up and down the more, the more developed torque.
A pair with the engine is a 4-speed automatic, which is somewhat contrary to the fashionable passion for multi-stage transmissions. Nevertheless, when switching strong differences, I did not feel, everything happened to the highest degree smoothly and sequentially, and when it was necessary to slow down the engine, it was enough to drop by one step, and it was already sensitive.
Thinking about what exactly the new Impreza Anesis sedan is the favor of customers, I came to the conclusion that this is unlikely to be a smooth engine or good handling. No, the main thing is that he is a car for every day, can become a reliable assistant in everyday life. It is for this, I think that they will buy it.
And what: the seats are comfortable, getting into the car and get out of it is easy. Sitting behind the wheel, you have a wonderful review in front of you, the trunk is so voluminous that it is able to accommodate as many as 4 large bags for golf. If this volume is not enough, you can tie forward the back of the rear seat and connect the luggage compartment with the passenger interior, and the floor of this trunk will be completely even, without thresholds. In a word, everything that is needed for a typical household machine has an ANESIS sedan. Such cars are usually easily used to it, and then they cannot refuse them for a long time. Anesis cannot be classified as fashionable new products, but it is also impossible to call it backward either. So, in my opinion, he pulls to the title of a truly practical car.
