Not all successes are equally useful. Subaru Impreza has become the famous benefactor for her sports achievements. Now, the rally image began to interfere with new fans. Creating the third generation of their famous model, designers and engineers Fuji Heavy Industries headed for the satisfaction of the needs of wide consumer masses. At the same time, however, trying to preserve the traditional advantages of the Subaru brand.
The new Impreza still lost one important and very proprietary detail. Now frames appeared on the doors. So there is no longer the contrast of a massive bottom and an almost invisible top, which used to make such spectacular open doors of Subaru. As they say, the rejection of frameless glasses is a consequence of the struggle for safety. A closed circuit with a frame, in principle, is heavier than a frameless, but does not need special mechanisms that direct the glass.
But the refusal even from such, in general, the little things already make you think. We witnessed how the brand had once shone with bright individual features began to lose them rapidly. Of course, it is great that Subaru designers have preserved opposition engines, but now it is almost the last branded feature of the Japanese brand from a technical point of view. There is still all -wheel drive that Subaru made such a popular brand in Russia. But it is now found for many.
 
From the point of view of the reputation, to be expressed old -fashioned, or, translated into a modern image of the image, a fundamental and serious feature of Subaru can be considered (agreed in male. Grite, or we are talking about the image?) Pirility to sports. The sunrise Impreza began primarily thanks to the participation and victories in the world rally championship in the nineties. It is not surprising that charged versions are sold under the designation of WRX, which is very reminiscent of an official reduction from World Rally Championship. However, as it now becomes clear, these successes brought not only fans into the stall. It turns out that many sports cars are loved, but not everyone is ready to drive them. The excellent rally reputation of Subaru on the one hand attracted demanding drivers, but at the same time confuses the usual ones. People began to believe that Subaru is for such very special buyers. At the same time, although the general sales of Subaru are growing, the share of Impreza is reduced. What looks unnatural in Europe: usually, just the class with most brands remains the most popular. Change this situation and must be a new Impreza. The third generation of this model has just debuted at the Frankfurt car dealership and is already available to Russian dealers.
Closer to the people. So, what does the new Impreza offer an average client? Even the fastest of us, most of the time, still do not spend on the track, so that the changes should arrange everyone. The first fundamental difference from the previous Impreza type of body. If earlier the car existed in the options for a sedan and a station wagon, now they merged into a single whole, forming a hatchback. This option is most loved by European buyers of cars of this class (for America, the sedan is still preserved) and looks more pragmatic and youth at the same time. With the transition to the hatchback, the buyer is not so much and loses. The station wagon in the previous generations was, frankly, not so big, so the hatchback is not too far behind him. For example, the volume of the trunk in the new Impreza is about 300 liters, this is 100 liters less than the previous one, but for the hatchback it is quite normal. This at first glance is not a very clear reduction: in length, the car lost only 50 mm. But if you look into the salon, reducing the volume of the trunk becomes understandable. The base has become larger, and the entire increase has gone to increase the size of the cabin. And above all, this concerns the rear seat: you can safely put a mother -in -law there without risk to get a reproach of neglect. Although it is recommended to bring the chief in the front chair. However, as in any Class Class hatchback, although what am I talking about? Even against the background of general trends to increase Impreza in size, price and style, it is quite possible to attribute to intermediate models close to class D. The new instrument panel looks respectively. True, we got cars equipped with a universal entertainment and information system with a large display and navigation, which is not yet available in Russia. A pity: a seven -inch monitor with a touch surface gives the salon a really luxury appearance. However, the standard system with Chenger and, of course, reading the MP3, is standard for the Sport, is quite good. On the more modest versions, it will be available as an option.
Even Russian (and all ex-Soviet) consumers lost several liters of trunk volume. Unlike Europe, our trunk will not be invested, but a full -fledged spare wheel. Because of this, I had to raise the gender of the trunk. But there is no thin one without good: due to the raised floor, the trunk lost the threshold, so loading and unloading were simplified. It is quite consistent with the course for the convenience of daily operation.
HIGHER AND HIGHER. We spent most of the time to ensure the responsiveness of the car on the actions of the driver without any damage to the appliance, says Mr. Kubota, who was engaged in handling Impreza. And in fact, at least on European roads, the car seems quite comfortable. You begin to believe that the creators of Impreza managed to achieve the goal to prove that good handling does not contradict comfort. At first, however, we were somewhat disappointed: the route in the vicinity of Prague was quite simple. As you know, everyone knows how to ride directly. Therefore, the gap of winding roads on the wooded ones ... Rather, still hills than the mountains, turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Impreza showed itself perfectly. She seems to even predict the driver’s intentions and enters the turns as if herself. It is not surprising that for this segment we drove there and back five times.
The only serious minus is not at all with the chassis. In the process of the next repetition of the exercise so much we liked, a dump truck was suddenly discovered in front of us, crawling to rise 30 km/h accessible to it. Well, now so we will go to the end. But the driver turned out to be understanding and, choosing a turn with his pocket, slowed down and blossomed the right turn signal. Well, right now we are kaak ... But it didn’t work out: even in the second program, the motor did not let us accelerate and demonstrate the traditional Subaru movement style. The truck started, so we managed to get around it only on the next straight. Switching just in case to the first.
Both engines are greatly modernized, and it seems to be just towards increasing torque at low speeds. But the more suitable Impreza two-liter in mode below three to three and a half thousand is suitable except for traffic jams. It seems that the matter spoils the concern for the purity of the air: the engines are fully consistent with Euro-4, which is so valuable for all customers. But those who want to remember that it is Subaru will have to twist the engine almost at the maximum.
