Russian Subaru Impreza XV

In Europe, Subaru Impreza XV is only pretending to be a crossover, decorating itself with a plastic body kit, but for Russia it was really transformed by increasing the ground clearance to 180 mm ... All modern cars are trying to become crossovers.

On the one hand, universal SUVs in the hope of covering as much consumer audience as possible abandon traditional off -road signs of a frame, unreasonable bridges, low transmission and locks. On the other hand, cars try to acquire maximum cross -country ability to compete on an equal footing with parquet crooks. Everyone wants to climb into a cross -over garden, because this segment is one of the fastest growing and most profitable in the world. At the same time, SUV not so long ago began to mimic for transport for the city. And the process of turning cars into passers began much earlier. Recall the VW Golf Country or Lada Tarzan (2108 on Niva units). But these projects are forgotten, because they did not have time. Today, a much more successful point for such a transformation is that we see the Mini Countryman, Audi A4 Allroad and the hero of today's Subaru Impreza XV test.

And here is the advantages of an enlarged clearance. What car can?

Thanks to the opposition
The big noise around Impreza XV arose due to two extra centimeters of the road clearance. Subaru is one of the few manufacturers who can allow the suspension elevation elevator: since the opposition engine is quite low, it remains the opportunity to raise the center of gravity of the machine if necessary.

Impreza XV does not just have an enlarged clearance. She also increased the corners of the entry/congress and fracture, which practically raises Impreza patency to parquet height. This fact was fully confirmed by our off -road tests.

Questions are more likely to configure the car than to its off-rock capabilities. Those who wish to operate Subaru Impreza XV will have to think tightly about a painful choice. There are two options. Subaru two -liter gasoline engine with a five -speed manual transmission and a reduced row of gears. Or the same motor, but with a four -band automaton. Both configurations may seem flawed if you do not take into account the features of their operation in advance.

Kill the machine gun
The ancient four -speed automatic transmission is strongly stupid during acceleration. Speeds of 100 km/h will have to be expected more than 12 seconds. The box can be spurred by transferring into a sports regime, but then the car will eat at least 13 liters per hundred and buzz, as if all Luzhkovsky bees hid inside it. At the same time, gas reactions will not be so much explosive as strained. Pleasure below average.

The front panel of Subaru is traditionally made for this company by residual principle. It would be better if they removed her at all

If you are engaged in a complete set with manual transmission, then a more fun start from a traffic light is guaranteed, but you will have to come to terms with a serious decrease in off -road abilities (despite the demultiper with a lower degree of 1.5). Full-wheel drive on the mechanical Impreza XV is built on the center differential, blocking by WISK MUFTA. This means that with a neat handling, you will burn the clutch, and with a careless Wi-Muft. Talented people will be able to ditch the entire transmission completely.

Therefore, for off-road is better Impreza XV with an automatic machine. In this configuration, the basis of the all -wheel drive is a multi -disc cyfest with hydraulic control. It stands directly in the same case with the automatic transmission and literally bathes in the coolant. It is unrealistic to overheat it. True, you can ditch the machine itself, but so that this does not happen, it is enough to fix the transmission in manual mode in time and do not turn on the reverse to a complete stop.

LAW OF PHYSICS
If you thought that I recommend Impreza XV with automatic transmission for daily use, then this is a mistake. I never ceased to experience irritation from the drowsiness of this ancient four -speed gearbox in the rigid conditions of the vapor -eagle Moscow traffic. Now you, I hope, also understand how difficult the problem of this choice is.

It is good that the novelty has indisputable advantages that do not require intelligence to assess. This, of course, is not the decoration of the salon (Subaru always saved on it) and not capacity (the trunk is small). What is really great in Impreza XV is the clearance. Feeling a good supply under his belly, you are going confidently, without suffering and regrets. And you begin to understand how important an increased road clearance is for a car, not in the field or in the forest, but in the primitive conditions of the Russian city.

It annoys only one fact: with a strong load of the car, the clearance will decrease to the usual values, but cars with an independent suspension of constant clearance do not. This, alas, is already the law of physics.
