When there were rumors that Subaru Impreza would become an SUV, I did not believe. But at the beginning of this week, I managed to personally check what the new SUV Impreza XV is! It also turned out that we will no longer have ordinary Impreza cars.


Subaru has their own fans, and such that many football clubs envy the Japanese automaker. They don’t care how the car looks, what is the salon and whether the climate control and heating of the seats enters the equipment. Such people have their own fetishes: a symmetrical all -wheel drive, opposition engines and doors without a framework. Moreover, some Subarufans are not embarrassed by the fact that all the latest Subaru models have the most ordinary doors, they say that it seemed to us all and the doors still do not have a framework.

I am not a fan of Subaru. Therefore, I relate to all these Subaru legends with a sufficient share of skepticism - experience shows that cars with the usual vertical in -line or V -shaped engines can be controlled at least no worse than the opposition Subaru. But I will not touch the holy, because offending fans is always so easy

Let's get back to the situation with Impreza. Indeed, from now on there will be no ordinary Impreza in Russia. Only charged versions of WRX and WRX STI and the Impreza XV model, which has already managed to get the nickname fifteenth, will remain. The official explanation of the following chances of the success of the Impreza passenger with a 2.0-liter engine strive for zero after the emergence of an off-road version of this model (the experience of the Legacy and Outback universal and Outback has proved this). Well, everything is logical here. But Subaru also had a budget version of Impreza with a 1.5-liter engine. And it was this car that was most popular among buyers. Now it will not be and its impreza xv decided to equip only a 2.0-liter atmospheric engine with a capacity of 150 hp. Allegedly, a 1.5-liter engine was removed from our market due to a high Japanese yen course. Like, in order for the sale of such cars to make a profit, it would be necessary to significantly increase the price, which would automatically kill Impreza 1.5.

And even then it was clear that another machine would come to us, which is created specifically for Russian conditions. So it turned out. After all, if the European version of the Impreza XV has, according to passport data, a road clearance of only 155 mm (exactly the same as the usual Impreza), then in our car it has grown to 185 mm! Of course, it still does not reach the SUVs, but Impreza XV can already be ranked by the category of crossovers.

In addition, after an increase in the road clearance, I had to reconfigure the suspension, which also received a sufficient number of changes. So, the reptile stabilizers of the far stability became a little thicker (both in front and behind), new springs and shock absorbers appeared, and the hardness of the silent blocks was increased.

The Japanese themselves are very proud of how they changed the suspension. During the Russian presentation of the model, Subaru representatives tirelessly repeated attention to the suspension, evaluate our chassis and so on. And immediately I must say they fussed not in vain. The suspension is indeed a strong place Impreza XV, especially if the driver is primarily interested in high -speed riding. The new version of Impreza, despite its new off -road character, is excellently traveling in high -speed turns. The rolls, of course, are present (you will not get a high body), but for this class they are minimal. Consider that they are not at all! Even at high speed, the car holds asphalt perfectly and clearly follows in a given direction. In addition, excellent handling did not affect the smoothness of the course. Bravo, just brave! Here you do not dig to Subaru.

True, the stabilization system here cannot be completely turned off. It only weakens the collar that will not allow you to revenge the tail in the bend. Caring for security, you know. Moreover, to a greater extent, not about the safety of fans of the brand (they, on the contrary, would like to ride Impreza XV in controlled skids), but about the so-called vegetables. That is, about average motorists, and female! Yes, in the leadership of the Russian representative office, Subaru is sure that the new Impreza XV will enjoy special love for women!

Of course, excellent handling is provided not only by the settings of the chassis, but also to the all -wheel drive system. Moreover, it differs depending on the gearbox. If you are interested in the technical details of the changes in the suspension, then they are the following. The diameter of the reptile stabilizer in front was increased from 20 mm to 21 mm, and from behind from 15 mm to 16 mm. The stiffness of the springs increased by 32% in front and by 16% behind, the shock absorber received the damping valve SPV

But on the Impreza XV with a machine gun, the all -wheel drive system is already different. On the front wheels when moving, the thrust is served constantly, and on the rear axle as needed with the help of a friction coupling with electron-hydraulic control. During the start of the back, 5% of the torque is transmitted, but as the engine speed increases, the pressure in the system increases, and more than the moment begins to be transmitted to the rear axle. As Subaru engineers explained, thanks to this coupling when moving, say, on the highway at a constant speed, the rear axle receives about 20% of the moment. But it is worth it to press the gas pedal more hard as it will be about 30-40%. Or even 45% more rear wheels, if there is an automatic transmission, cannot get.

By the way, about the machine. Here, alas, there is nothing to boast of the Subarovites. They put their old four -stage box on Impreza XV, which has been for many years. There are no big claims to the automatic transmission itself, by the way,. It works quite quickly, and there is a manual mode here. But, you must admit, in the modern world, a four -speed automatic phrase causes an association with the past century. Today, the market requires five-, and even better six-speed boxes (and some companies are already making machine guns and with eight gears).


As part of the work on the preparation of Impreza XV, engineers worked on a 2.0-liter engine. A new intake collector made of plastic appeared (it allowed to reduce the mass somewhat), and the form of the intake tract and the combustion chamber itself was modernized. The dimensions of the front and rear catalytic neutralizer are increased, and instead of a tandem layout of the neutralizers, the diagram is used when the rear neutralizer is installed behind the front. As a result, the engine meets the ecological requirements of Euro-5, although, as the Japanese themselves assure, in Russia the motor will be sold under Euro-4

The 2.0 liter motor is standard. It gives out 150 hp, but its main advantage is that the maximum torque in 196 Nm is issued here at 3200 revolutions. Thanks to this, it is very convenient to drive a car in the medium -speed zone. But at the same time, this engine does not work at all on the bottoms (so as not to stall at the start, it is required to work carefully with clutch), and even after 4.5 thousand. It does not spin too much. In general, it turned out well, but the motor does not force our adrenal glands to develop adrenaline. But the opposition engine sounds great for four cylinders! The sound of his work can really be called rumble.


It is very difficult to name a particularly economical Subaru Impreza XV. Indeed, even according to passport data, 11.1 liters of gasoline are spent on every 100 km in urban operating conditions. For comparison, again according to passport data, the Volkswagen Golf R with a 271 hp engine spends almost the same amount. And DSG gearbox. Of course, saving lovers could please the diesel engine that Subaru has: 2.0 l, 150 hp, 350 nm. But they decided not to supply such a motor to Russia

But how does the car behave off -road? After all, whatever one may say, Impreza now passed into the category of models that can knead dirt. Although we will not rush in such words. Whatever the marketers say, in front of us, at best, a crossover. In general, this is a hatchback of increased cross -country ability (because before the title of universal Impreza with its small trunk with a large loading height also did not grit). But in any case, Impreza XV behaves very well on the rural road, it is not afraid of diagonal hanging, and the road clearance of 185 mm is not so bad. Do not forget about the presence of a lowering gear. After all, only real SUVs can boast of such a bell.

There is another plus of Impreza XV to overheat the full -wheel drive system here is almost impossible. And not only in the presence of mechanics, but also with a machine gun. After all, many owners with a clip connected by a clip with all -wheel drive faced a situation where even after a short -term axle the system, the system treacherously overheated and the car freezed helplessly in the sand, remaining only with the drive to the front axle. We tried to overheat the Subarovsky all -wheel drive. Did not work out.

Maybe someone noticed that it has never been said about the Impreza XV salon? This is true, because the insides of the machine can be called one of the main weaknesses of this machine. And I don’t want to write about them too much. For a car that costs a million rubles, it is too rustic here. Both climate control is a single-zone, and the plastic is hard, and the switches of the same windows work with some kind of cheap sound, and the on-board computer shows only fuel consumption, and the glove compartment is not cheap, and the radio is a common two-dine (in Europe you can put a beautiful multimedia center, and you can put in Europe, But we do not have him). Yes, there are no complaints about the quality of assembly. You can't take this from Subaru. But there is no sensation of a rich car. And in the hatchback of a golf class worth a million rubles, albeit with increased road and all-wheel drive, this feeling should be!

As you already understood, the simplest version of Subaru Impreza XV costs a million. More precisely, 999 900 rubles. For a version with 5-speed mechanics and 1 029 900 rubles. For a model with a 4-speed automatic. The equipment of such a machine includes all-linked discs for 16, climate control (single-zone), a musical system with only four speakers, fog lights, six pillows, ABS, and a contrasting system. For an additional 30,000 rubles. You can take a model with a cruise control and a leather trim of a lever of the box and steering wheel. The maximum version with Bluetooth, a USB input, a radio with 10 speakers, xenon and hatch (this is exactly the machine we tested) will cost 1,094,300 rubles. For a model with a pen and 1,124,300 rubles. For the version with the automatic transmission.



By tradition, take a look at competitors. And immediately look at the most important and dangerous. No, this is not some Nissan Qashqai crossover or, say, the latest Mitsubishi ASX. A model that will most often take buyers from Impreza XV is made by Subaru. Of course, company representatives themselves never admit that their domestic cannibalism flourishes. But judge the Impreza XV itself costs a million, and Forester is sold only 38.7 thousand rubles. expensive. True, the basic Forester does not have cast discs and music, but it is not only larger than the Impreza XV, but also much better adapted to off -road (for example, the road clearance of the adult of 215 mm, and not 185 mm, like the fifteenth). And most importantly for the brand fans, Forester is all the same Subaru with an opposite engine, symmetrical all -wheel drive and decent handling. Therefore, the purchase of Forester instead of Impreza XV will not be considered a betrayal.

The mentioned Nissan Qashqai is also a strong rival of the new Impreza. Moreover, the buyer Qashqai has a choice, because if you wish, you can generally take a car with a 1.6 liter engine and front -wheel drive for 753,000 rubles. But the 2.0-liter all-wheel drive Qashqai in the basic (but also very worthy) configuration costs already 953,000 rubles. For the version with mechanics and from 993,000 rubles. For a model with a variator. The most expensive Qashqai is 1,163,000 rubles. This, of course, is a little more expensive than the maximum version of Impreza XV, but there will already be a panoramic roof, a rear view camera, navigation and much more.

The recently appeared Mitsubishi ASX that we have at least 729,000 rubles. For a version with a 1.6 liter engine and a drive on the front axle. A 2.0-liter machine with all-wheel drive and variator (no mechanics) is obtained, to put it mildly, expensive from 1,039,000 rubles. The most equipped ASX is already 1,279,000 rubles.

We will include Toyota Rav4 on the same list, which is well known to us all. The pluses of this model are more than enough, and the price of the next RAV4 with a 2.0 liter engine and all -wheel drive is sold from 988,000 rubles. (There is also a front -wheel drive model for 899,000 rubles). That is, it turns out that the base RAV4 is 10,000 rubles. Cheaper Impreza XV, although Toyota equipment is a little simpler. Automatic RAV4 with a variator costs 1,036,000 rubles.

There is also Skoda Yeti, which costs from 699,000 rubles. But the motor there will be only 1.2 liters. A car with a 1.8-liter engine (152 hp), mechanics and all-wheel drive is sold from 899,000 rubles. (The equipment will be slightly simpler than that of Impreza XV, but the price of a hundred hundred and less), and since November for 1,119,000 rubles. You can buy a well -equipped car with a machine gun and attention with a diesel engine! 2.0-liter, with a capacity of 140 hp Great, I must say, diesel. Hyundai IX35 costs from 899 900 rubles. For a version with a drive for one axis (motor 2.0 liters, 150 hp). Full -wheel drive cars start from 1,067,900 rubles. The IX35 equipment, of course, is not bad (there is a rear view camera, heating the rear seats, a light and rain sensor, 17-inch cast discs and so on), but the price is considerable. Hyundai IX35 with an automaton 1 092 900 rub. The most expensive gasoline version of the IX35 with a leather salon is estimated at 1,221,900 rubles. And there are also cars with a 2.0-liter diesel engine: 136 hp. + Mechanics costs 1,229,900 rubles, and 184 hp + Automatic transmission already 1 335 900 rub.
