On June 29, the company at Service+ conducted a test drive of Subaru cars. Among them was the Forester model of the 2009 model year.
Despite the fact that it was possible to try the Tribeca and Outback models, I decided to limit myself to the test of the new Forester. Moreover, in order not to erode impressions, only the most unreliable version was taken - with an atmospheric engine of 2.0 and a mechanical gearbox.
Although the salon of the new Forester grew up in size, it did not seem especially large to me. However, this must be attributed to the fact that now I drive in a very spacious car.
The general sensations from the cabin is typically Subarovski. A dense landing in an armchair with well -developed side support, the equipment of the dashboard is minimal, but enough, pleasant to the eye a combination of devices (it seems that they have electronic indicators, but simulating mechanics). The ranges of the seat and steering wheel adjustments, in my opinion, are sufficient. However, with my average growth, this opinion is not an indicator.
The gear lever also works in a very short stroke and very clear switching style for the company. You need to get used to the clutch, it also has a short move (however, you get used to it quickly: already leaving the test drive, I even wondered why the car did not touch the place that I just hadn’t let go to the end). But the short course of the clutch pedal allows you to minimize the gear shift time, which is useful both on the highway and off -road.
The steering wheel lies pleasantly in the hands and does not cover the viewing of the panel. The view forward is also traditionally good for the tile -shaped opposition engine. Well, you can go ... The test route was short, but diverse. It included asphalt (unfortunately, the small length of this segment did not allow fully evaluate the highway characteristics of Forester), as well as the laundry typical for the Russian hinterland and the sandy platform.
The two -liter hopeless engine was surprisingly traction. It would seem that one hundred and fifty mares and incomplete two hundred and now newtonometers for a car weighing for one and a half tons will not be enough. However, gear ratio in the box is selected so that Forester responds to pressing the gas pedal without the slightest delay. By the way, my colleague who tested a car with the same engine, but with automatic transmission, found the dynamics also very decent.
The suspension is good. Without any difficulty, she swallowed such bumps, on which Forester was sorry (although not her own). The steering on the lane was also a clear, predictable, the steering wheel does not push the fingers on the irregularities of the road.
Forester did not smash in the sandy area. Despite the increased (along with the dimensions) moments of the inertia of the new model, the behavior in the bend remains clear and predictable. The stop and subsequent acceleration from the place did not reveal trends from the trajectory. In general, the new Forester on the road has retained excellent characteristics of stability and handling, characteristic of all Subaru cars.
Let's get back to the salon. It seems that it is quite quiet here. It seems that Subaru experts thoroughly worked on this problem (the second generation Forester was, in many reviews, is still noisy).
If we compare Forester with his classmates is not in detail, but with a common impression, then I must say that the light Subaru crossover still has a noticeable advantage in stability and handling. I do not recall that any other SUV could be controlled on a bad road with such lightness and such pleasure.
 
Now about prices. In the minimum configuration, a two-liter with a mechanical checkpoint does not reach 924 thousand rubles. The most expensive version of the turbocharged 2.5XT with automatic transmission is a little more than 1.3 million.
In conclusion, a few words about the organization of a test drive. He took place on the territory of the ski club Leonid Tyagachev (Dmitroskoye Shosse). The track is well selected, the instructors know their job (in addition to the Subarovites, specialists from the firm adventure experts worked here). The only remark who wanted to test Subaru turned out to be impatient, so in a rather early journalistic time, there were already many guests from among potential customers on the site.
The program, in addition to a test drive, included an excellent lecture on the behavior on the road of cars with different types of drive (it was read by Dmitry Filonov from Subaru representative office). The racing taxi was also remembered - the teachers of the Academy of Speed \u200b\u200bof the Assumption rolled on Subaru Impreza WRX on the figure for figure driving (the smell of burning rubber hung in the air for a long time) and on the highway of the picture (there are not many impressions, the track is clearly not suitable for rally cars). There were quiz and contests in the program, but we left quite early.
P.S. This Subaru test drive, like the previous one, passed with the rain. Apparently, the weather specifically gives star cars to show themselves from the most attractive side.
