There is still a gasoline forester in the head, which seemed too crucial and comfortable and, in fact, failed the first serious test. It turns out that the diesel forester is completely different! It is solid, purposeful, surveyed like the Subarovsk clutch pedal. Here under the wheels a section of gravel flickered, and it became obvious: this car is tougher on small irregularities. Then, when surrendering in a bend, the universal Jokogam tire screeched and no frightening rolls, side taps of the body. Forester fit into a quick turn may not be perfect, but very confident. Everything is on the surface: understandable and stable behavior, moderately an accurate steering wheel in a word, something that was so lacking in a gasoline fellow.
Why? After all, slightly more rigid springs in front, completely do not violate the general comfort, the main thing and, it seems, the only difference in the chassis settings. Nevertheless, the forester suddenly looked like a previous generation car, famous for a sled character.

Below one and a half thousand, he frankly does not go. Often on a steep rise, you simply do not feel that the revolutions have fallen below the critical point, and the engine stalls.
It is not very interesting and promoting the motor above 3500 rpm. Here, the temperament of the foreman weakens, nullifying the pleasure of the original sensations. It remains to use the box more often to support the assertive driving style. And the new 6-speed mechanics lost not only the traditional demultiplitor, but, alas, the former clarity of switching. The cable drive and special counterweights, of course, made it possible to significantly reduce vibrations, but the fee for this errors and the lack of rate of fire.
In the mountains, for example, you often confuse the third and fifth gears, periodically falling into delicate situations.
From comfort to cooperation
The car is still on the way: ahead is certification and the start of sales in the spring and summer of 2009. Naturally, the prices are complete uncertainty. It can only be assumed that machines aimed at the gap between the gasoline versions of the foreman of atmospheric and turbo will be closer to the first.
There is a hope that the discussion of the differences in the frying pendants will continue. The designers of Subaru were attentive to criticism and do not exclude the modernization of the chassis of the gasoline machine. You look, by spring and it will gain a more expressive character.

Subaru Forester is a convincing evidence that a modern diesel can be not only compact, economical and acceptable, but also surprisingly comfortable.
