6.6 percent of Russian buyers choose cars with a universal body

Machines with a universal body are chosen by very special people of strong business executives with a sufficient level of misanthropy in the body in order not to pay attention to fashionable convulsions in the surrounding automobile reality. For these people, the choice between the Universals Opel Insignia and Skoda Superb can be one of the most powerful experiences in life.

In Soviet times (unless, of course, someone else remembers), the owner of the shed of the Volga system in the eyes of others looked almost an oligarch. Now it is not easier to get a large station wagon to the possession of a large station wagon, but because of the wealth of choosing a prime housewife, too many parameters have to take into account. Although we agreed that we do not drink water from the face, not to pay attention to the aesthetic side of the issue either. And all because every strong business executive in the farm is simply obliged to exist an equally strong business executive, with the opinion of which you will have to reckon in one way or another. And women in their mass when choosing a car pay attention to external design. So what is Opel Insignia Sports Tourer and Skoda Superb Combi present in terms of appearance? Perhaps few in this nomination will not take the side of Opel. Like it or not, but both in front and behind, the car looks different than the Czech competitor. Energetic, like all modern brand models, the contours of the muzzle details, LED cilia in headlights, dynamic stamping on the sides of the body is perceived noticeably more interesting than emphasizing the calm Superb with its calm-burgher facial expression and an airship silhouette. As for the dimensions (an important parameter for such a car class), they are almost identical. The extra centimeter of the length of Insignia does not affect anything. But we know that true versatility lies in the salons of machines of this class, and therefore we move on to the internal content. I must say that the exteriors of both cars do not present any special surprises. It was with Insignia, for example, that the current corporate style of the Auto from Opel began to practice at one time. All these bloody dials and displays, chess keys on the central console, nickelled edges of the interior details became a new word in the design of cars from Ryusselsheim. The Germans managed to find a completely successful stylistic solution of the interiors, without straying on the kitcha -like cheapness and without falling into a dull stiffness. Unless the picture on the monitor of the corporate multimedia navigation center looks somewhat rustic against the background of a completely adult interior.

The interior of the front of the Superb Combi salon also does not present any impressionist surprises. Numerous roll calls are observed with the design of elements of other brands included in the Volkswagen family. It is completely pointless to attribute this fact to advantages or disadvantages: it has always been so and, apparently, will be. Moreover, the Superb design is based, as you know, the VW Passat platform. But one way or another, the school style of design still prevails. The design of both the dashboard, and the steering wheel, and especially the central console with the multimedia center, unambiguously makes it clear that you are in the Skoda brand car.

And what is there to the back? After all, it is here that all kinds of children with households and all kinds of useful folk goods usually travel. Opel Insignia Sports Tourer takes care of its rear riders. The rear sofa is actually a couple of comfortable seats. Two adults will be quite comfortable here, without resting the knees on the backs of the front seats and without the slightest hint of the possibility of a close acquaintance of the occipital bone with elements of the ceiling design. In general, everything is fine here. But only a person who has never looked into the Superb salon could not in life can be considered so! On the back sofa here you can sit, sleep, have sex, raise children, contain a small herd of cattle that such associations arise when you see how many legs are here. Almost like in the elongated modifications of representative Germans. Aerodrome! I sit about the test myself even to remember funny: three adults can sit here, almost throwing their feet on the leg.

And what do we have with trunk? In Insignia, he does not even seem particularly voluminous with a cursory examination. Its 540 officially declared liths of useful volume for records do not apply clearly. Just a strong middle peasant. If you fold the backs of the rear seats, 1530 liters of all kinds of junk can already be shook into the car. For fixing multi -caliber luggage, Opel provided a set of folding partitions, which are attached to horizontal bars on the side walls of the trunk. You can order an electric drive opening and closing the fifth door. It is possible to choose the height of its opening, you never know what height of the ceiling in the client’s garage. In terms of luggage compartment, Superb Combi confidently leaves Insignia Sports Tourer. 633 liters of useful volume will delight each lover of sheds. Well, when the rear seats are folded, the volume of the booth grows to 1865 liters. And the floor of this cave remains even. Mobile metal loops for fixing baggage in the floor and comfortable hooks on the sides of the compartment will help to fix almost any kind of luggage. The fifth door option also takes place to be.

For a comparative test, we unearthly took the Skoda Superb Combi with a two-liter 200-horsepower TSI gasoline engine and a seven-speed DSG. Benchial, because this model in the back of the station wagon is delivered to Russia only in such a configuration, without options. But Insignia Sports Tourer can be ordered with a more suitable combination of units for a family barn, and we chose a car with a diesel two-liter 160-horsepower unit and a six-speed automatic. Of course, on the go of the car behaved differently. The diesel moment on the bottom, demonstrated by Opel, will please even an adherent of an active ride. These, of course, are not 325 horses of a 2.8-liter turbocharged gasoline installed under the hood of the model in the APC configuration. However, with this diesel, you can feel like the master of position on the highway. Accelerations thanks to 350 nm diesel look quite cheerful, and sometimes in Huligan. That's just the lack of serious lateral support from the driver's seat unequivocally reminds that you are still sitting while the family station wagon, not a city lighter. But, despite the shed charisma, the car reacts very well to the movements of the steering wheel and holds straight. Even the ruts and evil potholes in the asphalt do not knock this suspension from the course. True, all this happens loudly enough. In general, noise insulation could be increased. Loud diesel hiding in the cabin retreats into the background only at idle. No, at high speed to talk with fellow travelers will not hurt. Another thing is that such a stagnant statements of the motor about their existence create a persistent impression (but only an impression!) That the car can hardly cope with accelerations. However, it seems that the owner will cease to pay attention to this after a couple of days drive.

We dare to assume that there are few cars with 200 Czech horses under the hood and Volkswagen robot in the transmission in the sense of driving dynamics. Powerful accelerations, a clear retention of trajectories, a pleasant steering wheel, ship smoothness of the move, the name Superb Combi deciphens something like this. I don’t really want to dashing on this car. It’s not necessary somehow. But to pulse into the distance, leaving a couple of middle -level managers on the ceremral car, convinced of their unsurpassed racing skill, always, always please. As for the fuel consumption, he, as expected, was less for the diesel Opel. During ordinary driving along the capital's streets (but without participating in the scrap traffic jams), the testimony of his side computer swam in the range of 910 liters of diesel fuel per 100 kilometers. The Czech gasoline engine consumed in similar conditions 1012 liters of the 95th, which, with such power, can be considered a completely acceptable result.

And finally, let's talk about sad. The fact that most of those of our compatriots who once started saliva at the sight of the Volga-Universal, are unlikely to ever be able to afford the purchase of a German or Czech bar. If the prices for Opel Insignia Sports Tourer with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine start from 882 thousand rubles, although we had a car for almost 1.2 million on the test, then the cost of the new Skoda Superb Combi is less than 1.35 million. can not.
