Apparently, having received a grant from the American government, PR managers of world car concerns, conspired, sent us first to Georgia, and then to Ukraine.I do not see another reason to visit two citizens in a row in a row. We did not go to any Kievan Rus, but right to the West, the plane landed in Lviv. Settling from the ramp, we got into the brand new Peugeot 4008 and went to the Carpathians. What did I know about Western Ukraine? Allegedly there they boil borsch from Muscovites, but this is in the past, since the last Muscovite was eaten there under Gorbachev. In general, the starting mood was the same as in Georgia. However, the further development of events went according to another scenario. None of the locals tried to assure that the Westers were not more dangerous than plush bears. We generally paid us at least attention. True, the legend of the evil descendants of Stepan Bandera carefully supported. At the very end, it became clear to me why.

PEUGEOT 4008 sales began in April. The first in our and Ukrainian market and only then in China, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina and Europe. This is how the French today trade in their cars. It seems that they are least counting on demand in their country. On the other hand, this can be understood. The French, carefully masking, say that the Peugeot 4008 is based on a shortened PEUGEOT 4007 platform due to reduced front and rear overhangs. They took and took 30 centimeters from the initial length, leaving unchanged wheelbase and track to guarantee the space for passengers and the capacity of the trunk. This is partly true: the 4007th is Mitsubishi Outlander, and the 4008th Mitsubishi ASX. At the same time, the ASX is based on the truncated Outlander platform. The Peugeot 4008 is produced in Japan, and the participation of the French is to give it charm with minimal means. What they do well.
The characteristics of the platform, as well as overall dimensions, make the 4008th universal. It is compact, which guarantees excellent maneuverability, but at the same time it has a spacious salon, so it is suitable for daily use both in the city and on vacation. At the same time, it is much prettier than Mitsubishi ASX, and for lovers of all French, this is almost the main argument.
Features of the coupling
We went on versions with a two -liter engine with a capacity of 150 horsepower. First with a mechanical five -speed box, and then with a variator. The equipment with the manual transmission seemed much more fun, and the variator had to be kept in manual mode all the time. Obrokeing the wagons on the Carpathian bends, I now and then sorry for the steering wheel petals, fixing the gears. The petals are surprisingly ergonomically verified, it is a pleasure to use them. Only the provincial Transcarpathian road network prevented the maximum of pleasure (the roads there are many times worse than Georgian). Mitsubishi never differed in the smoothness of the move, and the new PEGEOT SUV does not have it. The energy intensity of the suspension is also quite conditional. I caught flashes in the pits and especially on the hillocks.
Although we experienced parquet transport, there was a piece of off -road in the program. So, for Off Road, PEUGEOT is equipped with the most ordinary cross -over all-wheel drive. Everyone is in charge of a multi -term coupling on electronic control. While the car travels along a dry asphalt road at a speed of up to 80 km/h, 85 percent of the torque is brought to the front axle. On the off -road you can switch the toggle switch to Lock mode, which is usually recommended by the manufacturer. I will add from myself: only if you do not need to slip. You feel that there is a small off-road battle, with gas on the floor and laying out pieces of snow-gruzi-sand-sand, leave the toggle switch in normal mode. Otherwise, the coupling will boil. Peugeot recognizes this, but, as always, in a veiled form. They say: Lock mode only works at low speed. And if you are standing in a snowdrift, frantically rotating with wheels, what?

Having traveled to the Carpathians and local holes, we returned back to Lviv, where the answer to the riddle finally appeared: why, in the absence of enmity with katsaps, the myth of filthy mosquitoes is cultivated in every possible way? They didn’t let us go there, and not because of the fact that the mug did not go out: the whole tavern was to our fellow citizens until the last centimeter. Ours buy such souvenirs here in such quantities that they do not have time to bring them. I didn’t get such a magnet! But I will definitely return when they are given them.
The shadow of Mitsubishi ASX will always pursue the Peugeot 4008, but the Frenchman Japanese will not be a real competitor for a banal reason. The quota for Russia is still only 3,000 cars a year, and the whole world is 20,000. If you are all French, in a hurry, there may not be a second chance. However, if you do not have time, go to Ukraine, there will probably remain there, just do not forget to correctly pronounce the name of the producer of the cups. Verification word for a meal.

The Peugeot 4008 model is based on the Mitsubishi ASX platform of the shortened version of Outlander (aka Peugeot 4007). The front and rear overhangs were reduced, but the wheelbase and track were kept unchanged to guarantee the space for passengers and the spaciousness of the luggage compartment.
When the 4WD mode is turned on, the engine torque is transmitted to both axes, but the electronic control unit is responsible for the distribution of this moment. For example, when driving through dry asphalt at a speed of 80 km/h, 85% of the torque goes to the front axle. In the case of slipping the front wheels, the percentage of torque transmitted to the rear wheels will increase. There is Lock mode that allows you to block the coupling and submit a moment equally on both leading bridges. Nevertheless, the car is very lacking in the electronic imitation of the interference of inter -normal differentials.
