PEUGEOT 4008 test drive since 2012
PEUGEOT 4008 test drive: certified copy
It seems that the strategy of cloning in the automotive business has fully justified itself. An example of this is the successful sales of three Mitsubishi Outlander XL, Peugeot 4007 and Citroen C-Crosser crossovers. In order not to invent a bicycle, PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi Motors decided to develop this topic and gave birth to another triple Mitsubishi ASX, Peugeot 4008 and Citroen Aircons. The eldest in the family is the Japanese crossover, which appeared back in 2010. But the French were a little late and released their versions only two years later. To meet the Peugeot 4008, we went to the Ukrainian city of Lviv.
Peugeot 4008, Mitsubishi ASX, Citroen Aircons - this trinity is similar to each other and a platform and technically. The only significant difference is the design and in this component the French, as always, did not lose.
By tradition, the main difference between Peugeot 4008 from their brothers is design. After all, platforms, power plants and transmission for all three crossovers are the same. Perhaps the outwardly the 4008th looks most advantageous. The new style of the French, who came with Peugeot 508, is clearly to his face to the crossover. A large front bumper with chrome -based air intakes, chromium chromium, predatory headlights, embossed hoods, side -by -side sides of Peugeot continues to bend its line of Parisian fashion, which will undoubtedly appeal to fans of the brand.
In the Russian market, Peugeot 4008 is offered only with a 2.0-liter engine and all-wheel drive. They say that in this way, Peugeot is trying to share the novelty and model 3008, which is in demand in a monotive modification.
If outwardly each of the offspring of this international Franco-Japanese family is an individual, then in the cabin the Trinity differs only in elements. The Mitsubishev design of the 4008th with French labeling does not shine either with sophistication or quality, which was sophisticated by the laconic and stylish interior of the younger relative of Peugeot 3008.
The boring design of the front panel is already familiar with three climate controlors and an audio system with a small monochrome screen. But there are positive points. The dashboard of the 4008th, identical to Japanese, is well read in the top equipment of Allure is equipped with a color screen of the on-board computer. Beautiful and pleasant to the touch the steering wheel is equipped with convenient audio system keys and adjusting in two planes. The chairs have a good profile, but the pillow is short, and lateral support only looks effective.
Find 10 differences. If you cover the emblem on the steering wheel, then the interior of Peugeot, Citroen and Mitsubishi is practically not distinguished.
The top of the front panel and sheathing of the doors is made of soft plastic, and on the rear passengers they decided to save the door casing there were hard. But the place on the gallery is enough for a person of medium height he sat down with a decent margin. It is a pity that the rear sofa is not adjusted either longitudinally or along the corner of the back of the back. The volume of the trunk with raised rear seats is 416 liters. A spare wheel was located under the floor, which is why, after laying down the sofa, a step forms on the floor.
The pluses of the 4008th include spacious places from behind. It is a pity that the sofa is not equipped with any adjustments.
In order not to encounter the novelty with the Peugeot 3008, which is in demand in the version with the front axle drive, the 4008 crossover is available in Russia only in an all -wheel drive version. The engine is also one 150-horsepower 2.0-liter atmospheric with a maximum torque of 198 nm. But when choosing a transmission, an alternative to traditional five -stage mechanics is CVT.
The first half of the way I and colleagues had to go by car with a manual box and on 16-inch wheels. The clutch is cotton, the pedal force is minimal, but the selectivity of the box is not bad, the moves are small, and the switching is clear. The motor sleeps at low speeds and comes to life when the tachometer arrow passes the mark of 3500. As a result, the Peugeot 4008 spends a lot of 11.8 seconds on acceleration to 100 km/h.
The dashboard is well read regardless of the configuration. Nevertheless, the option with a colored bottle computer is more pleasant to the eye.
The car with the CVT variator accelerates no worse, it sensitively responds to gas, but with fast overtaking the box takes time to drive the tachometer to the maximum revolutions. In order to avoid delay, much more efficient to use the manual mode, in which the transmission is more willing to submit to the driver's teams.
While on the road, even asphalt, Peugeot 4008 is quiet and comfortable. The all -terrain vehicle stands well on a straight line, is quite stable on the arc, and the turns are cut with a moderate roll. The entrance to the turn with excess speed is fraught with a manifestation of insufficient rotation. The muzzle floats out of the trajectory, after which the body squats on the outer rear wheel and is sent to the skid under the discharge of gas, which is immediately extinguished by the stabilization system.
On the 18-inch disks, Peugeot is more acute and less roll in a bend, but for broken roads, the 16th wheels with a large profile are better suited.
On 18-inch wheels, which are offered in the most expensive configuration, the behavior of the car on good coating is more stable, the crossover is more willing to steer, and the feedback on the steering wheel is slightly larger.
As soon as we passed the borders of the city, the road deteriorated so much that some pits had to be overcome literally crawling. Here, a more modest version with 16 disks is clearly preferable here, which at least somehow helped the pendants fight different-caliber pits, bumps, cracks in the asphalt and other surprises that prepared the roads of the Lviv region to us.
If with small and medium flaws of the chassis of the 4008th he copes confidently, reminding of itself only with non-barrels, then the pits of more now and then provoke a breakdown of the posterior suspension. The crossbar and light country of the crossover practices quite rigidly, but not slaughtered.
In order to check the off -road abilities of PEUGEOT, the organizers of the test attempted to break into the mountains, however, it was only partially successful for us. But the washer was useful, responsible for the work of a full -wheel drive transmission. In total, three modes are available: 2WD - only the front -wheel drive, 4WD - the automatic distribution of the moment (as usual 85% of the moment is transmitted to the front axle), Lock is a constant all -wheel drive (from 50 to 82% transmitted to the rear axle), which operates at low speeds) .
PEUGEOT is reluctant, but still copes with a non -diagonal hanging. And most importantly, even after a long slip, the coupling did not overheat and remained in a working state.
Despite the fact that all the cars were shod in summer tires, Cavalcada Peugeot advantageously moved to the intended peak, but when the smallest remained before it, behind the next turn of the mountain serpentine, the road was covered with an impressive layer of snow. The first two cars, including ours, overcame a couple of dozens of snowy meters, but soon the adverse properties of the summer tires ended and we got up. To the honor of Peugeot, even after that, repeated attempts to get out of their own led to overheating the coupling, and both 4008, unlike many modern city crossovers, still remained all-wheel drive. I had to use the help of the organizers who arrived at the prepared Land Rover Discovery. As a result, all cars whole and unharmed continued their way along the broken roads of the Lviv region.
In Russia, Peugeot 4008 is proposed in three trim levels: Access, Active and Allure. Prices for the base machine with manual transmission, an audio system, air conditioning, heated seats and ESP start with 999,000 rubles. The crossover in the Active configuration with 16-inch alloy disks, climate control, a knee airbag for a driver, LED running lights and improved interior decoration is estimated at least 1,099,000 rubles. The surcharge for the variator is 40,000 rubles.
The 2.0-liter 150-horsepower engine does not like lower classes and wakes up only after 3.5 thousand revolutions. Two gearboxes: 5-speed mechanics and a bloodless variator.
Finally, the top Peugeot 4008 Allure is already equipped with a variator, an audio system with 6-dynamics, leather upholstery of the cabin, xenon headlights, 18-inch discs and tinted glasses. This version is estimated at 1,261,000 rubles. The Rockford Fosgate audio system is optionally offered with 8 speakers and a subwoofer and alarm, and soon, as representatives of Peugeot Russia promise, navigation and a panoramic roof will appear.
