Step forward, step back. Another gasoline engine is now aggregated exclusively with a more prestigious automatic 5-speed transmission with the possibility of manually shifting gear. Our opinion is subjective, but still. Touching the capabilities of the automatic transmission to the highway and on the off-road, we did not experience shock and trembling. We formulate the idea as follows. There is no complaints about the car acceleration - in automatic mode in the traffic lights, the majority of cars easily leave behind the Most of the Patrol. Only it is necessary to be extremely careful - at the time of a sharp acceleration or slowing down the car begins to cry out noticeably. For which I will say thanks to the old good off-road design called the dependent front suspension. Still, the continuous bridge was created not for Street Racing. Much more comfortable Patrol behaves in open areas of the highway - the speed is recruited smoothly, without pensive reactions to work the gas pedal.
But in manual mode, some lag appears at the box - it is better to swing the lever back more than once, and two to go with the fifth, say, transfer to the third. Only then is achieved the effect of a sharp, as with good kiqdown, acceleration. So manual mode is best used on the off-road to move the latitude.
Field exercises. This, by the way, is not an assumption, but a proven fact. Because, by moving from asphalt on the field, we are immediately stuck. The soil was still humid after the recent rain, and the engine turnover began to fall rapidly as we wrapped the dirt on the wheels. We tried to put pressure on gas to keep the turnover within the limits guaranteeing the maximum torque, but the transmission in automatic mode was constantly jumping up-down.
The experiment was repeated in an hour, after the Patrol left to the Patrol bridges, but this time in manual mode. On the second gear of Patrol safely overwhelms through the entire field, overcame the rather steep hill (here they are, the possibility of a disconnected stabilizer of transverse stability) and returned us back on the highway. Only there we found that they forgot to include reduced gear ... By the way, we also did not turn on the rigid blocking of the rear differential. And all these off-road bindings are included in the standard equipment of gasoline Patrol GR. And even thanked the rubber, the universal purpose of which obviously did not correspond to our route, - an ordinary conveyor model.
