Mazda BT-50 test drive since 2006-

"For the driver and his adult toys." Mazda BT-50 car review, 2007

Mazda BT-50 is one in two forms: he is also freight transport, he is a specific thing for people who know themselves and their needs.
If in Europe the BT-50 pickups with a single cab play the role of workhorses, then in Russia this position was taken by very cheap Chinese who can be faster to recapture in finances and throw it into the garbage dump. Japanese pickups have become not so much with working machines as an integral component of an active lifestyle, in which there is a place for adventure and entertainment.
While the Chinese are stamping numerous cheap and not very pickups, the Japanese rolled out another role model for them, raising the bar with another step and throwing back the dream of the Chinese auto industry to win the world for several more years.
The body and salon at Mazda are collected as if the BT-50 is a model of a rocket that has to go beyond the solar system and the prestige of planet Earth depends on it.
The Mazda has a new MZR-CD engine, and a 2.5-liter diesel with turbocharged. Unlike the previous 109-horsepower with a torque of 268 nm and with the same working volume, the new motor is already developing 143 hp. and 330 Nm. The diesel for Russia is not clamped in strict European norms of Euro-4, but is configured for Euro-3, which will allow it to be sold here without problems for many more years. Compared to the previous B-series model, this Mazda is slightly slower (it accelerates to 145 km/h), but much more economical. The average diesel fuel consumption is now 8.9 l/100 km versus 11.3 l/100 km earlier. Of the special tricks to combat Russian frosts and poor -quality diesel fuel in the design of Mazda, pre -heating of the fuel in the fuel filter is provided (as well as on the previous generation), as well as the water presence sensor in the fuel tank and the valve for its drain.
Mazda BT-50 in Russia will not carry prosaic olives, as it does in Greece, or juicy tomatoes, as in Spain. We will have a BT-50 with a double cabin only for the driver, his friends and their adult toys: bicycles, snowboards and water motorcycles. Here, the Mazda BT-50 is favorably different from some ordinary SUV with a trailer in that she can deliver her toys not only to a puddle with a sandbox on Rublevka, but also to hell with straps. There, where the crossover wheel did not step. The Japanese company did not change the traditional for pickups and a successful design: all -wheel drive, compulsory hard frame, diesel engine, rear spring suspension, torsion in front, hard connection of the front axle and a differential of increased friction in the rear bridge.
Thanks to simple solutions, the BT-50 conquers the off-road, not particularly straining. Where it does not pass on two wheels, it will connect all four. Where it sits on four (for example, in a loose sand rut with a good half meter with a deep half meter), it will be selected at the lowest stage of the handout (position 4l lever).
The attribute of formidable macho with quadric in the back is delivered to Russia without much variety of versions. There is only one turbodiesel engine 143 hp. and 330nm torque. In the world, Mazda BT-50 exists with three types of bodies, but we will only have a version with a double cabin and without fail with all-wheel drive.
There will be exclusively additional options to influence the price of pickups in Russia that raise the comfort of the car from acceptable to a sufficient level.
A simple Mazda BT-50 will cost $ 23,490.
At the next level of the hierarchy and comfort in the BT-50, electric windows, heating seats, ABS and music $ 25,490, air conditioning and cast wheels will cost 27,690 dollars.
The very steep Mazda BT-50 will be redeemed by a drinker and a MP3 player and a CD changer, as well as all sorts of brilliant things in the interior decoration, sparkling arches behind the cabin and ups under the body of 30,300 dollars.
With such equipment and price, a competitor to Mazda BT-50 is only one Mitsubishi L200.
