Land Rover Freelander LR2 test drive since 2009 SUV

Land Rover Freelander-II: on Parquet! ..

Once the British were especially proud that Freelander, unlike most of his classmates, is not applicable to an offensive word SUV. Now this bastion of British conservatism has fallen: after the recent modernization, Freelander-II received a front-wheel drive modification. To Russia, thank God, it will not be supplied

Thank God because the Russian market is already an excess of underfield crossovers. Let at least the Landrover model will have the right wheel formula: at least for the sake of the image and in order not to be, like all

However, to be called a SUV Freelander-II 2011 m. G. seems to be doomed. Guess from three attempts, what is a special emphasis in a company press release when describing an updated model? On the efficiency of modernized engines and their friendliness to nature! Say, there were times when SUVs acted on various kinds of activists of green movements, like a red rag on a bull.

Now 4x4 cars belong to fuel with the frugality of the average family station wagon. For example, Frelander-II TD4 (2.2 l, 150 hp) spends, on average, 6.6 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km. And the top 233-horsepower 3.2-liter in-line six now complies with the ecological standards of Euro-V.

Moreover, such indicators, according to Land Rover engineers, were not achieved by reducing the dynamics. The thing is that the British motorists so thoroughly processed the Frryender engines so thoroughly, at the time of talking about the new line of power units for 2011 models.

So, the already known 2.2-liter turbodiesel now has two modifications: TD4 (150 hp) and SD4 (190 hp). In both versions, the motor develops the maximum torque of 420 nm. Both of these versions are equipped with turbochargers with variable geometry, a system of recovery of kinetic energy used to recharge the battery, a system of injection with a common fuel ramp and high -speed piezoforms.

Piston rings, indigenous bearings and engine tray are also modernized: it is equipped with a noise -absorbing casing. For the same purpose (decreasing noise), the front cover of the gas distribution mechanism was changed: additional stiffeners appeared in its design.

Both diesel modifications of the updated Frelander-II already in the basic configuration are equipped with a branded Land-Rover STOP/Start system, which tracks the moment of closing the air damper, stops the fuel supply and turns off the generator for a smooth stop of the engine. According to representatives of Land Rover? A similar system is installed on SUV cars for the first time.

Outwardly, the restyled version of Freelander can be identified by new front bumpers with built-in new fog lights, a slightly different radiator grille (it is now dark on the TD4 model and brilliant on the SD4 and 3.2-liter gasoline version). The front headlights and rear lights changed slightly: transparent dialogue with black edging appeared on them. The interior design as a whole remained the same, but several new decoration options appeared.

The world premiere of the modernized Frelander-II will be held in August, at a car dealership in Moscow. Russian dealers accept orders for the car now, and it will appear alive in the salons during the fall. Starting price - 1 174,000 rubles for the TD4 version (150 hp) in the configuration E. 190 -horsepower Frelander in the configuration S will cost 1,545,000 rubles.
