Without waiting for the first test Range Rover Evoque, the Kolesa.ru portal looked into the Land Rover car dealership and drove away from there on the fully equipped Frelander II. Will the compact range be able to completely oblivion his close relative?

Frilelander was too lost in the shadow of his older brothers: the legendary Discovery and the pathos Range Rover. Even the standard update, passed by the junior Land by Rover less than a year ago, did not add brightness to him, slightly changing only some details of appearance and interior. All the forces of British engineers were thrown to create a glamorous Range Rover Evoque.

The appearance of Frilelender, although it has fed as a way, looks worthy for a conservative style. Praise with English design traditions. A fresh and sporting fit ec, especially in bright colors, but the background of a strict Land of Rover looks defiant, preserving, at the same time, noble family traits. But Frilelander is definitely more courageous than the little Rang, whose unisexuality is clearly shifted towards the beautiful half of humanity.

Although, the Range Rover Evoque can be called small only against the background of the usual Rover Rover. Built on the Frilander platform, the Evoka has become a little shorter and lower: by 145 and 105 mm, respectively. But in the width was heard, compared to a cousin, by 55 mm.


In the salon of Freilender is boring. The gloomy interior is illuminated by a soothing greenish backlight, and a two -line information display, as if rearranged from the Nokia 8110 phone, complement the dull severity of the interior.

Frankly, the short pillow of the driver’s chair, designed for low drivers, is not pleased: after half an hour, legs, two -thirds in the air, begin to occur. Although, you can understand the abundance of keys on the central console very quickly. Otherwise, the interior of the English crossover is good: it is spacious and convenient.


Evoque interior is a holiday for fantasiers and lovers of stylish accessories. The front of the cabin, as in a real sports car, is separated by a high and wide tunnel, flowing from the front console. The puck of automatic transmission controls exactly like on Jaguar XF. Device scales change their backlight with snow -white (as usual mode TerRain Response), on a rich red (in Dinamic mode). I am glad that the loss of free space did not become a victim of style. The Freelander wheelbase (2660 mm), which remained unchanged, suggests that even the rear passengers will not be crowded. But the trunk of a land of Rover is almost twice as much as that of a mini-ranga: 755 liters versus 420-a 15-centimeter loss in length and a sloping roof of Evok affected.

Both diesel turbo engines in tandem with a Japanese Aisin automatic machine migrated to Range Rover Evoque without changes - this is very pleasing. The 90 kg is heavier than a beginner, even a 150-horsepower freelander remains a peppy car, accelerating to 100 km/h his 1805 kilogram body in 11.2 seconds. Version with the same motor forced up to 190 hp. It does the same operation in 9.5 seconds. A lighter ec is faster: 9.6 and 8.5 seconds to hundreds, respectively.

Gasoline motors for every Englishman have their own. Land Rover Frilelander boasts of a V-shaped atmospheric six of 233 horses, while Evok has a slightly more powerful (240 hp) and an economical turbochter.

Choosing Rover: Land or Range?

The flour of choice between two cars will become much stronger when buyers look into the price lists. The more stylish and eminent Evoque (Range Rover) was not much more expensive than more pragmatic and conservative Frelander 2. Although the basic versions at the cost are strikingly (1,233,000 rubles for an empty freelander, and 1,650,000 rubles for a well-equipped Rover Ecova ), literally from the second configuration, the situation begins to align.

Freelander 2 took part in our test in the top-end version of the HSE version equipped with a leather interior, a two-zone climate control climate, a patented Terrain Response off-road system worth 1,784,000 rubles.

With a similar technical filling and in a comparable configuration of Pure, the Rover Rover Ecov will cost even a little cheaper - 1,827,900 rubles. The 190-horsepower engine will add 123,000 rubles to the cost of the second freelander, while 40 extra Evok horses will rise only 75,000 rubles.


Gasoline performances equipped with the eyeballs will again make Freelander 2 a more profitable acquisition. With a panoramic hatch, regular navigation and adaptive headlights, 233-horsepower lands will cost 2,258,500 rubles. Rickeeper at the Hi-End class audio system, the rear view camera and the system of controlling dead zones, a more powerful Evoque will ask for 2,467,500 rubles. Do not forget about the fact that the mini-rainj also has a more stylish three-door modification, which differs in addition to the body and increased by 50,000 rubles at a price.

And yet, in the premium segment, the price is not so important. The main ideology! And for two crossovers, it is completely different. Land Rover Freelander 2 is older and more experienced. He, as the eldest son of a truly English family, following the observance of family traditions, is strict and balanced.

Range Rover Evoque - rebel. Only when born, this spoiled teenager is already stern dark costumes and verified posture. Instead of playing cricket, he is ready to drive in boutiques and night clubs, everywhere attracting attention. And who said that this is bad? It is necessary to live idly too ...
