"Lanos" in two dimensions

We have already introduced our readers to the Korean car of Daewoo Lanos (ZR, 1997, No. 12) and his Russian copy Doninvest Assol (ZR, 1999, No. 1). This time their Ukrainian twin fell into our hands.
A three-door hatchback with a 1.5-liter eight-valve engine and a mechanical gearbox in terms of assembly and coloring quality can not be distinguished from the Korean analogue. Even the salon on an uneven road rustles in the same way - almost in a samarian.
We immediately note the high level of standard equipment of Lanos: the central lock, the steering wheel, airplane, electric windows, and also the fact that the rating of smoothness on German roads (ZR, 1997, No. 12) almost coincided with the near Moscow - a rather strict short -term suspension passes small ones irregularities and cannot cope with large ones, triggered to the stop. Despite, let’s say, mediocre comfort, the characteristics of the suspension still provide Lanos with good controllability - it is not tag, it responds well to the action of the steering wheel, clearly and quickly reacts to the discharge of gas in the bend. The car allows the driver to accurately adhere to the selected trajectory and is not inclined to small bags. It is a pity that the capabilities of the chassis clearly limit the tires - their sidewalls tend to break.
Subjectively, Lanos was not impressed with special abuse, although a 1.5-liter motor, which leads his pedigree from Opel-Cadet, showed himself an honest worker, confidently accepting the load at any revolutions. The characteristics declared by the manufacturer looked too optimistic, and the impressions of a living car were even more convinced of this. When it came to deciphering the testimony of measuring equipment, the results were more modest than the factory data (see table) - however, they fully corresponded to subjective impressions.
The casket opened simply: the plant brings the characteristics of the machine on the main gasoline AI-95, and produces-set up for the mass 92nd, on which we held measurements.
The price of Ukrainian Lanos is $ 8,200, but this is in the homeland, and in Russia it will have to add a customs duty to it. However, so? DEU does not plan to supply cars assembled in Ukraine to Russia, and for Russian motorists Lanos from Ilyichevsk has not yet been of great interest. But their Ukrainian colleagues will receive a quite modern, although not too cheap car that does not look at the hero of jokes at all at all.
