Chevrolet Aveo test drive: when reality is better than expectations

It is always nice when in reality a thing is better than you expect. Approaching the Chevrolet press park, I hoped to leave the Aveo crumb, whose sisters I meet on Moscow streets daily. Instead, a pretty sedan was waiting for me, which is noticeably larger in size than a compact hatchback.

And the sedan caused surprise, since at the words of Chevrolet Aveo, the image of a 4 meter-shaped hatchback immediately comes to mind, which are much more than sedanov. The Chevrolet tested in length has almost 4.4 meters, 1.7 meters wide and one and a half meters high - in general, a typical V -class car. The updated model, which appeared on sale in February, is outwardly pretty - the designers tried to fame, the old body, which was created on the Daewoo Kalos platform, externally has more similarities with Lada Granta than with the new Aveo.

And the new Aveo is only similar to itself. Open double headlights with a quadruple reflector give the appearance of aggression. According to the designer, their light should resemble the light of the headlights headlights. The lower external frames are decorated with a cast trim. The rounded rear headlights, on the contrary, look friendly and simply, as if different people came up with the front and back parts.

Inside, the sedan was as spacious as the outside. On the front seats, passengers up to two meters tall, in the rear, are comfortable with two adults, but the third place will already noticeably lack. In the little things, the interior pleased to honestly admit, did not expect: cup holders, an ashtray, a pleasant steering wheel to the touch. The driver's seat is equipped with a armrest, in addition, under it in the LTZ configuration is neatly a drawer for car trifles or a stitch. However, other configurations from the absence of the box will not suffer much AVEO, like all representatives of Chevrolet, is equipped with a sufficient number of pockets and departments. Take at least the glove compartment - there are two of them. And if a notebook and a pair of ballpoint pens climb into the glove, then a medium -sized book will fit in the main one. At the top, above the central console, there is a small platform in the form of a recess - probably for an accessory, and on the sides of the same console, pockets for phones are successfully provided.

The motorcycle style declares itself in the interior: a round tachometer, a rectangular digital speedometer. You get used to it very quickly, an indicator of fuel level turned out to be especially convenient for me, but such an element in such a car looks very unusual, coupled with plastic design. In other words, he makes an extra hint of the budget of this car.

It is not difficult to set up a car for yourself: everything is very clear. One of the advantages of Bluetooth, thanks to which you can connect the phone and not be distracted once again on the road. Air conditioner luxury, available for all the default configurations, except for the budget LS. However, for 30 thousand it can be purchased for her.

The trunk caused mixed feelings. The first was its excitement to its volume for the B-class 510 liters! Then the question arose how much the ass of Aveo will go if the trunk is loaded in full? I did not try. Naturally, it opens only by hand, like the side mirrors. But the trunk is closed only with certain efforts, and this is another minus its lid seems plastic and too fragile.

But the main thing is how the car behaves on the road, and Aveo is all right with this. The dimensions are felt perfectly thanks to the rear view mirror, on the size of which they did not save. Most likely, it is precisely because of an excellent review that the system of assistance in parking is present only in the most expensive configuration, in principle, it is not needed. However, the radius of the turn is as much as five meters. If, when leaving the adjacent territory, the car trembles a little in low gears, then on the road it affects with maneuverability, smooth passage and inconspicuous switching on the machine, not sparing its 115 horses. The only nuance of the machine at first the lever easily takes three steps instead of two (or four instead of three), but to determine at what mark it settled, not so simple due to the lack of bright illumination and fixation strictly opposite the transmission. An excellent suspension hides almost all road flaws deserves respect. Many are unhappy with unimportant sound insulation, but it easily disappears behind a good audio system and uniform speed on the road.

The listed advantages of the car are enough for the price that manufacturers ask for Aveo from 444,000 rubles. For this money, the buyer receives the front pillows of the driver and the front passenger, the front electric windows, the heater for the rear passengers, ABS and the fabric upholstery of the cabin. For an additional 13,000 rubles, you will get electric windows of the rear glasses, electric drive and heating of the side -view side mirrors, heating the front seats, and for another 30,000 air conditioning. Total 487,000 rubles for a V-class car with bells and whistles.

In general, Chevrolet Aveo was much better than I expected him. The car deserves respect for no less than the main competitors - Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio, which cost from 443,000 rubles and 479,900 rubles, respectively. Perhaps AVEO will become even more accessible to the Russian buyer, since the production of a model on the conveyor of the domestic automaker GAZ will begin in November of this year. In the meantime, the car wins thanks to a roomy salon, trunk and lack of giant lines.
