Trapertial muscle. The brightest detail of the new Audi A6 is a huge, in the form of a trapezoid, a radiator grille. It looks fresh, but the right to present this new one (historians will clarify: well -forgotten old) style of decoration for the public belongs to the flagship A8 W12. Probably, six would have looked even more spectacular if the radiator grate was not dissected by the sign with the state registration number of the vehicle, but, as one of the designers admitted in the conversation, Alfa Romeo stuck this topic. Moreover, she stabbed not at the level of patents and laws, but according to some design concepts.
Although the whole automobile world lives analogies. Take, for example, the salon of the new A6. Very reminiscent of A8, only simpler. A similar procedure a year before was done by the sworn friend of the Audi concern BMW. He suffered some of the decisions from the seventh series, including the Idrive joystick, fifty of the spores, in five.
The Audi AG concern, in turn, awarded the buyers of six such an tool for communication with a car as MMI (Multi Media Interface). The MMI puck is responsible for numerous secondary functions (like navigation that does not work in Russia) and was first shown on A8. But there is something in the six. Own among others Audi. This is a central console slightly deployed towards the driver. The one whose loss was mourned by BMW fans. But, as you know, that one loses, then the other finds. The console, which has stumbled under the driver, was found in the new Audi A6.
On the side of the driver. The turn towards the driver is made for a reason. The A6 presentation repeatedly repeated words in an excellent degree, and more often the rest about the most sports car in their class. Sports, of course, is not in the sense that his steering wheel must sit in training pants and sneakers. Sports is concluded in the concept of interior design, chassis settings and proposed engines.
Everything has already been said about the salon: in order to go on this car, there is no need to climb into the glove compartment for the instructions. Everything is clear and practical. Well, perhaps someone can confuse the electromechanical parking brake, made in the form of a key. Its appearance is explained as follows: the driver of the very sports in the class of the car is unlikely to pull the handbrake in the bend, and the parking brake in it is much easier to place a small fitulka between seats than a standard stick with a button at the end. This solution gives additional space. Before you remove the car from the handbrake, the driver needs to press the brake pedal. If the user does not guess this, the instructions will have to reach for the glove compartment. And it opens not with a familiar pen, but with a special button, to the left of the box. Is it more convenient? The driver - yes, the passenger is unlikely. The sportswallness of the car can be seen in the fact that the designers did not refuse to six from the device, which they forget to put now even in a golf class-a coolant temperature sensor. The sports driver is characterized by interest in the processes taking place under the hood.
In the six, which is traditionally for Audi, very comfortable seats. In particular, on all cars presented to the journalistic test drive, even where the seats had to roll on the cabin manually, four electric buttons of the lumbar support adjustment were found. The driver can change not only the bulge of the roller, but also drive him up and down on the back, depending on the individual curvature of the spine.
Spontaneity itself. For the new A6, three gasoline engines are offered. Starting, that is, the smallest of the proposed gasoline V6, 2.4 liters. This motor, despite the familiar volume, is new. A6 with two and four will be supplied only with front -wheel drive and only with mechanics. According to subjective sensations - a very worthy combination. Although there are as many as six programs in the box, there is no need to constantly fiddle the lever: there is no sensation of a lack of power.
But the mechanics with a more powerful motor of 3.2 liters did not like very much: that the first, that the rear gear was turned on with obvious effort - however, this can be attributed to the flaws of assembly of cars from the first batch. But in Russia, it is unlikely that anyone will be able to ride in such a car, at least in the near future. The new advanced 3.2 FSI motor with direct fuel injection will not be supplied to us yet. The reason is the very fuel that is supposed to be directly injected into the cylinders. It is not very high quality in Russia. And since Audi engineers are not able to change the situation in our gasoline market, they will adapt their engine to its realities, especially since the problems with the quality of fuel are found not only in our country.
Thus, instead of 3.2 FSI, at first (at least the next year), a familiar and proven gasoline engine V6 3.0 will be delivered to us. And no manual boxes are provided for him, except by order. The front -wheel drive will go to the salons of Russian dealers with a unavailable Multitronic variator, a full QUATTRO with a six -speed Tiptronic automatic machine.
Buyers will also be offered a new three -liter diesel V6 (225 hp), which will only go to Russia in combination with QUATTRO/TIPTRONIC. With the same transmission, customers will be offered cars with hurricane gasoline V8 4.2 with a capacity of 335 hp, accelerating six to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds.
For owing sports, the machine can be supplemented with manual gear petals on the steering wheel: one, right, switches up, the other down. Just like on A8.
The suspension is almost in sporting: for a business class sedan, it is perhaps even harsh. This does not immediately become obvious on even Western roads, but in Russia it will be clear a minute after the car will leave the well -groomed territory of the technical center. What can I say? That Audi cars are traditionally supplied to Russia with springs and shock absorbers reconfigured under our roads. And in 2005, six should appear on sale with an adaptive, as on A8, suspension. With her, the driver, if desired, can change not only the stiffness of the chassis, but also the clearance: when driving on broken roads and for jumping on borders during parking - the matter is simply indispensable.
Exhibition of achievements. The six generally gathered a lot of what is theoretically familiar to many, but in practice - still in a curiosity. There may be rotary headlights as options on A6; radio control system for air pressure in tires; Advanced Key, which makes it possible to open a car and get it without taking out a radio switch from a pocket; Radar cruise control, which allows maintaining not only a given speed, but also a safe distance. The latter will be available to customers since next year, but, unfortunately, not in Russia: we have not yet consented with the consent of the competent organs that disaster radio frequencies.
In general, without these trifles, Russian buyers of the new A6 will soon receive a complete collection of modern achievements of the automobile economy.
