Given the small dimensions of the machine (less than 4.5 meters in length, a little more Ford Focus), we are surprised how successfully the Germans ordered the available space. Moreover, the front engine compartment is in front of the engine shifted to the database. The trunk was released a rather big (420 liters), however, a new wagon of the 3-series is a slightly roomy: 490 liters of booties are closer. And the salon, which only at first it seems cramped, but in which four people actually fit without any problems.
Interior
BMW car interiors have always differed in high quality materials used and magnificent ergonomics. The interior of the updated x1 is no exception. Premium quality finish, and even the tree here is used to the place. Seats - dense, providing low and sports landing. Especially for the crossover.
The non-fixed selector of the automatic transmission eventually began to be perceived quite familiar and comfortable. Behind it, AUX and USB connectors are located on the center console, the ECOPRO Enabling and Shutdown Buttons, Start / Stop Systems, Parktronic Systems, Stabilization Systems and Mountain Assistant Systems.
On the seats of the rear row will be comfortable only two. The third will prevent a high transmission tunnel. Places as much as in Treshka: nowhere gives it, but there is no special space. Because it is managed by an X-first very worthy. Feedback on the steering wheel is almost perfect. There is neither relaxation at low speeds or excessive gravity at high. But the honed controllability in this case does not mean the deterioration of the smoothness of the stroke. On the contrary, X1 refers to irregularities with relative indifference. It is impossible to say that the crossover can rush on any Ughabam without dealing with the roads. But the fact that the usual tresh is on the platform of which it is built, this has not dreamed, that's for sure. X-first handles pits to rarity calmly, gently and silently. He is completely deprived of the nervousness that is present in BMW 3-Series when moving on nonideal roads. It is not easy to find such in the vicinity of Munich, but they are. And they clearly make it clear: for Russian reality, X1 is much better suited than the usual 3-Series wagon.
The BMW X1 suspension is configured in such a way that it almost does not lose in controllability, but heavily wins in smoothness compared to his BMW 3-Series universal donor.
For the BMW X1 crossover, it is very good in turns, but it allows you to relax on the freeway, he does not notice. On a long straight unlimited German autobah, he gladly picks up 230 kilometers per hour, while not losing in stability, while maintaining a completely acceptable noise level and a very small fuel consumption. Even at a speed of about 200 kilometers per hour to force x1 to die over 13-14 liters of diesel fuel is almost unrealistic. Prior to that, the top diesel engine for X1 was a two-liter turbodiesel 23d, which develops 204 horsepower and 400 nm of the moment. In 25D technologies, the same, but increased pressure and reprogrammed electronics allowed us to raise the maximum power and torque indicators to 218 forces and 450 nm, respectively. How not to remember the favorite fans of the brand of a gasoline three-liter atmospheric, which even recently could be ordered for x1 28i xDrive (now for the machine with the same index it is proposed a two-liter four-cylinder bitorbogo). That engine of the old school developed at the sunset career 258 forces and 300 nm, but then there were three gasoline liters! Unfortunately, check off the BMW X1 off-road qualities and the four XDrive drive during the test drive did not work. But the point is not even in full drive: the impressive front Sve and the ground clearance into a modest 180 millimeters is unlikely to allow the baby x1 to take equals with real SUVs. Yes, in BMW never demanded some kind of superportivity from their X models. Four-wheel drive here, rather, to obtain certain driving properties. So far, dealers have only 3-series Touring of the last generation - the very thing on the basis of which it is built x1 (the treshka-universal of the new generation will appear closer to winter).
