However, X1 has an official clearance of 195 mm, like in adults. At first glance, I somehow do not believe at all. In addition, in this case it is not difficult to measure it, because it is the same under the whole bottom. And what? It turned out about 180 mm is also quite good for a car without special off-rock ambitions. However, so without ambitions? Yes, the front over-the-first overdoor is too big, but in addition to a decent road clearance and flat, like an athlete’s stomach, a competent permanent all-wheel drive is also undercumbered at the BMW X1. On the ground, he allows a vigorous slip, but does not allow to sink.

Fools are lucky?
In practice, the off -road part of the test looked like this: we plowed an abandoned quarry, at times hanging on sand ridges, but each time slipping from them without outside help. At the same time, the Motorcyclists-Crossmen quit training and looked at us, as at successful idiots. In fact, from the outside it was hardly possible to understand what this BMW frolic so impudently outside the asphalt. For us, the most interesting moment was the hoverning of the rear wheel. Understanding that with the front axle sharply lowered down and a cross -firing, freezing in the air, the crossover is unlikely to climb back in the back, I was preparing for a dizzying descent. But still I tried to reverse and was amazed. It was worth removing the leg from the brake pedal, and the German he herself ascended the mountain. True, after all our adventures, the lower part of the bumper ate the sand, but there is nothing wrong with that. Now, if we climbed on solid ground or stones, we would have to look at both.

Let the steering wheel, driver
Of course, the Bavarians are traditionally strong on the asphalt. But the last generation X5, as well as the newfangled X6 (a dream car according to numerous, but basically never traveling users of Runet) have an unpleasant feature. I am talking about the manner of conveying all the ruts, all bumps on the steering wheel. It is understood that a sort of rewinding is the reverse side of controllability. But I still remember the old BMW, who for some reason did not overload the driver with excess information. So, X1 is just made in good old traditions. He is moderately acute, but does not recall the song with words tightly behind the steering wheel, the driver!. But the suspension is yes, typically Bavarian.

The road of small cracks
All small irregularities, all the cracks were ours, as if they had forgotten the springs in the suspension. At prohibited traffic rules in the region of 160180 kilometers per hour, it became clear that the route in appearance was entirely consisted of small cracks. But then large irregularities the car passes noble. So much so that there is a temptation not to slow down at all on the lying policemen. Probably, such settings are perfect for Europe. And here, well, we can get used to us in a couple of days. In general, the handling is tasty, with an anger -wheel drive accent. It is even better than the BMW X3, of course, the center of gravity is lower. Of course, if we drive along the sports track and we did and it is felt how the computer forcibly drags the car to the perfect trajectory. The driver who imagines himself the pros will annoy. The electronic stabilization system is very advanced and each time he strangles the driver in a new way, taking into account the nuances of the situation. Well, it can be turned off. But notice it works adequately and in real life will surely save at least more than one body. Especially when you consider that on the version we tested, the motor stood a powerful, shamelessly provoking an aggressive ride.

ALWAYS READY
The diesel engine on the BMW X1 23D is fantastic. His working volume, despite the nameplate, is only 1995 cm3, but the Bavarians managed to remove 204 horses and 400 nm of torque from them. Moreover, the peak value of traction falls at 2000 revolutions per minute just for the mode in which the motor works most of the time when driving. That is, the maximum of Newton meters is always under the foot. Very comfortable, especially in the city. Is it possible to criticize 23D? Please: on idle you can hear that under the hood diesel. Some brands more modestly learned to make more quiet engines with ignition. It is a pity that they are far from Bavarians in terms of indicators. And in general, I personally like the diesel voice to my liking. And I really liked that the average fuel consumption for our measurements did not go beyond 7.5 liters per hundred. This, by the way, taking into account speeds on the track, track racing, traffic jams and off-road.

I won’t know why BMW X1 is such a large trunk. Does someone allow the idea that he will become the only car in a large family?

DO NOT TOUCH
The machine is a worthy pair of motor, although in the usual mode and gives a slight delay with sharp acceleration. However, the hitch is insignificant, no one except the BMW driver will notice anything. Want to get rid of her? Switch to sports mode. Just do not try to choose programs manually: electronics begins to compare your commands with crankshaft revolutions and speed, so that as a result, no time in time is even the opposite. Is that the use of an emulator of a mechanical box to reduce speed? But you are unlikely to want to do this, having advanced with elastic German brakes with extremely delicate ABS. For off-road, the manual regime is useful, especially since it is honest and the programs themselves do not switch.


Nonsense on the left
One of the reasons for love for the brand that BMW gives its fans is, of course, the ergonomics of Kokpit. A densely taking a chair, a chubby small steering wheel, clearly readable devices, sports landing and, despite it, excellent visibility is fully present in X1. The skin of the seats is good, the plastic panels are soft, the driver and the front passenger is spacious. Everything seems to be perfect. But what violates the German order? Oh, yes, this is my left leg stained on the inside. Yes, the thresholds are wide, and the landing is low, and the owners of Ha-first will have to remember this. There is another constructive moment: the passenger will be crowded behind a tall driver. Yes, I see that a good part of the overall length has eaten a hood that allows you to fit in an in -line gasoline six. I understand that this model is not for those who have one car in the family. But the fact remains. By the way, for me, it was generally worth making x1 three -door. So it would be more honest, and most importantly much cooler.
