Check by the Russian depth of the new Volvo XC70
For Christmas holidays, my family and I gathered in the hinterland of Russia - the Penza region. And to visit relatives and for the winter to see the present, which in Moscow was in no hurry.It just went perfectly for our small warring XC70, and that's why. The Volvo station wagon has a spacious salon and a large trunk, in addition, it has a powerful motor and all -wheel drive, which allows you to realize traction and make control safe. My children were no less lucky. The test car was equipped with the Premium Sound audio system with the 12th speakers Dynaudio, a subwoofer and chainger for 6 discs, and most importantly with two 7-inch monitors in the front headlights with a DVD player with AUX output, to which there are two pairs of wireless headphones. So on the road they did not have to miss. Children enjoyed their favorite cartoons, and my wife and I have our favorite music.
The rear seats equipped with additional busters for children were especially useful. They can be raised and fastened with standard seat belts, which saved me from troubles with children's seats. In cold weather, when I often had to get down and get out of the car, I pleased the PCC electronic key, which allowed to open and start a car without removing the key from the pocket. Also, with it, without approaching Volvo, you can check, the car is closed and, if not so, fix the situation.
In my opinion, the new 70 is somewhat defiant, this was evidenced by the escorting views of not only pedestrians, but also drivers of the provincial town where we drove.
In the cabin, everything is functional and convenient. The whole family comfortably accommodated in a car, and an eight -hundred -year -old trip flew for us almost imperceptibly.
On the highway driving KhS70, I felt confident, the car perfectly maintains exchange rate stability, and the 238 strong motor provided confident traction with all overtaking and allowed to do this quite quickly in a pair of 6-step-step automatic transmission. The box made switching smoothly without jerking. Even in manual mode, when for overtaking with an economical 6th transmission you jump into the 3rd shifts smooth.
During his stay in Nikolsk there was frosty weather, at night up to -30, and in the afternoon about 20. The car started up every morning without problems and never gave signs of a failure, we can say that XS70 passed a test and low temperatures. However, it is worth noting one low -temperature disadvantage. The fact is that the leather salon freezed so much that on the seats you could sit quietly without afraid to freeze the fifth point, only ten minutes after turning on the heating. I am generally silent about the rear seats, after half an hour of intensive heating of the cabin, they still remained cold. Apparently, due to built-in children's pillows, the rear sofa was deprived of heating. The light salon is certainly beautiful, subject to snow -white snow, here it remained like that, but upon arrival in Moscow, the salon quickly began to darken.
They say that the old horse does not spoil the furrow, but we have spoiled, however, this time the ski. Choosing a suitable place with a beautiful landscape for photography, I decided to call on a hill in the forest on the outskirts of the city. Despite the fact that the snow on the slope at first glance was well tamped, it was not possible to go up to the top of the hill. Having overcome three quarters of the journey, the car began to fall into the snow, and the anti -operating system completely strangled everything, as a result, we sat down before I managed to turn it off. So it was not possible to compete with the skiers. Having shot the car, in an interesting position, I already began to think where to get the tractor. However, turning off DSTC and settling, in reverse under the hill we managed to get out. Going down, I decided with the DSTC disconnected, to go to the second circle, but it was cold. I did not dare to experience the family for fitness for low temperatures, in anticipation of the tractor.
Finally, I want to say a few words about the electronic systems of those present in the configuration of the car provided to us. One of the original options is adaptive cruise control (ACS). This is a cruise control, working with a radar, which tracks the distance you set to ahead of the coming car. In the case of a smooth slowdown in front of the car, XC70 also smoothly reduces the speed, switching to lowered dropping to 15 km/h. If the car brakes sharply in front of the machine, the function of warning about the danger of a collision is turned on, accompanied by sound and light alarms, and Volvo prepares an emergency braking system, increasing pressure in it. When the front car leaves the zone of action of the radar of XC70 briskly gains the speed you set. Although competitors have similar systems, they are officially unresolved in Russia, so only the Volovsky radar works at permitted frequencies.
Also, a system of monitoring of dead zones (BLIS) was installed on the test car, it is designed to monitor the dead zones of the car built into the outer mirrors of the cameras, and when the car appears there, the light bulb from the corresponding side lights up. But, as a rule, when this system was triggered, I perfectly saw a moving car in the rear view mirror.
More than others, a thing that is not related to electronic systems, but increasing safety, pleased me. On the way to Moscow, in the Ryazan region, it was noticeably warming, and dirt flew from under the wheels, the wipers worked almost without a break for four hours of journey, while the side glass remained almost completely clean until Moscow itself. At first I was surprised to praise aerodynamics to myself, but later I learned that Volvo uses front side glasses with a special water -repellent coating.
What can be said in conclusion? Of course I was pleased with the car, having received a comfortable and safe journey for the whole family. A spoon of tar can only be called fuel consumption. In urban mode, it amounted to 21.5 liters per hundred, and on the highway about 14.4 liters, despite the fact that I tried to go in economical mode. You may notice that people buying such machines for consumption do not pay much attention, however - a penny saves the ruble, and they have to refuel more often.
The cost of the XC70 with a diesel 185-horsepower engine and six-speed mechanics is 1,328,500 rubles. Prices for the station wagon with 3.2-lying 238-horsepower R5 and automatic transmission starts from 1,431,800 rubles.
