The new Volvo XC70 arrived on a test with a 3.2 liter engine, a six -band automatic and a leather salon with ventilated seats. There are four station wagons in our market: Skoda Octavia Scout, Subaru Outback, Audi Allroad and Volvo XC70.
 

The most affordable Octavia Scout costs from $ 36,000. Outback is more expensive than $ 39,000. Even more biting XC70 at a price of $ 45,000 $ 55,000. The cost of AlloD is already chaos: from $ 86,000. However, the Czech and Japanese universals have never reacted to the premium segment, and Volvo, like Audi, on the contrary, always positioned themselves as manufacturers of luxury cars.
 







You get into the Volvo salon as in a massage office. Caring for the driver’s body is visible from everywhere. The automatic transmission lever is not just convenient, the sensations from manipulations with it are so harmonious as if it were always in your hand. The steering wheel is finished with warm matte skin with an unusually pleasant texture for the palms. By the way, the skin is subjected to special overeating and over the years should become even more beautiful. The velvet settings of the hydraulic wrap are held between elasticity and softness so elegant that the process of communication with the hydraulic pump already fills the brain with relaxation and colored cartoons from the dreams of banana. When parking or moving at low speed, the steering wheel rotates without much effort. At high speed, the steering wheel is already less suppressed, and the car reactions are faster. You can choose the level of steering sensitivity exclusively for your character using three different settings.

I will never believe that the suspension of the new XC70 was designed by harsh Swedish engineers. Men are simply not able to create this. Probably, this was done by a friend or even the mother of the designer, when he caught a cold and could not go to work. Instead of dry calculations and algorithms, care and bliss are primarily laid down in the suspension ...
 

With the rest, however, everything is about the same. The engine gently sends the car forward after the gas pedal. The automatic box does not drag out with switching, does not allow the engine to promote and sets the driver on a relaxing wave.
 







Very economical
Sooner or later, a relaxed driving style bored and a desire to tease the six with a sharp attack of the right leg. Volvo will say to this: I have a kik-dowan, and what did you think?, But there will be little joy from the dialogue. It is better to avoid sudden movements, jumping by no more than one step of the box down. And the turns to pass calmer. The side support of the seats is too small. In the bend of the pilot, he is heating.
 

Street raisers are still awaiting a surprise. This is a manual regime. It allows you to twist the engine up to 7000 rpm until the limiter works. You can drive. Only the music needs to be turned off and interrupted by the passenger at a glance so that the air does not shake the air because there will be no sounds except the growl of the six, there will be no heard in Volvo, and this is also worth enjoying.
 

In a line six-cylinder 238-horsepower gasoline engine is very economical. During the test, I ate only 21 liters per 100 km in urban mode. I do not like? There is an option with a diesel engine. The completely aluminum five-cylinder 185-horsepower turbodiesel of the new generation is quite acceptable and technically advanced: direct injection, Common Rail and the variable geometry of the turbine. In addition, the motor is very compact. This not only reduces the total weight of the machine, but also seriously increases the safety of the driver and passengers with a frontal blow.

Spokukha, without foam!
It would be a continuous pleasure to pass by off -road. It is a pity, a low bumper and a cloths are a plastic body kit in a circle. It was possible to check the off-road qualities only on one of the nearest climbs, at the time of the road. VOLVO can safely and comfortably be able to move on an inclined slope, what the electronic assistance system helps him when descending from the mountain. He is not afraid to climb either. The soil was dry, but unsteady, and the tires are roadless. Therefore, I specifically stopped at the end of the ascent, expecting that the XC70 would begin combat (axle?) Actions so as not to shamefully slide down. I was wrong. Without pogazovka, without fuss, foam and any body movements, Volvo exceeded the hill and looked around with dignity at the photographer standing below, awaiting at least a short off-road battle. This is how the advanced Haldex AWD drive system with Instant Traction technology operates. The motor without hysteria turns all four wheels.
 





Not only premium
The updated station wagon will appeal to everyone who appreciates convenience and comfort. After the trip, there are only pleasant sensations. Only a modest clearance and a plastic body kit are disappointed. It would be more fun without them.
