And we’ll finish this with troubles, since there were no more of them in the car, at least on a presentation test drive. And that, the only one, is the navigation system. She fornicated, and shamelessly.
In short, it was in Valencia. Free time was formed, and my colleague and I rushed to the sea to swim. They got there without problems and without navigation, drove around the sun. But back ... Our hotel is in the historical center of the city, everything is quite narrow and chaotic there, plus the evening rush hour, which means that the slightest navigational error is fraught with a long cooler for hair clips. So we were spinning. And I was mistaken - she, an infection. After each maneuver (note, it was imposed on us) joyfully reported that there was left ... more than it was. Turn left. To the target of 3 km. We turn. To the target of 10 km. And so the broken hour. Finally we were helped out by the Volvo employee, who accidentally drove past and slowed down to find out why we were standing with such evil faces. He said: Fallou Mi, - and a minute later he brought us to the hotel underground parking. It turns out that the goal was to serve a bumper - and the navigation stubbornly continued to call us in a roundabout. I wonder if there is an analogue of our Susanin in the Swedish epic?

XC60 with all official seriousness is declared as the safest Volvo car in the history of the company. And I believe in this a priori, you just have to look at the arsenal of all kinds of safe systems of the machine - only their listing here would take a lot of print space. All of them are certainly useful, and for those who prefer to shift responsibility to equipment are also pleasant. They take a lot of themselves. So much that sometimes it bothers, I would like to finally solve it for myself and even to fuck them in a peak out of a sense of contradiction, but they do not allow you to walk too much-that’s what you begin to slightly feel like an astronaut from the tundra. No, they don’t beat hands, they are generally tactful, but, it seems to me, they are excessively persistently warned, advised, adjust, besiege, brake ... try to cross the marking line without turning on the turn signal-right there, right there, something somewhere. then write down. Try to sharply get closer to the stern in front of the car going (at least so that the arrogant Spaniards do not climb from the side and strive to screw into any free gap)-it will immediately blame the red pseudo-stop, projected onto the windshield. Try someone to climb into the dead zone of your lateral mirrors-right there a yellow light brings up next to the mirror. So you go, adapting and squeaking. Well, as you get used to the electronic advisers and study in the mirrors to watch and monitor the distance - and how to go to other, old -time, cars that do not have all this color music ...
Perhaps the most interesting - at least with its novelty - we had a chance to experience the system at an impromptu training ground near Valencia. This is City Safety, which is designed to protect the XC60 from a small city tin as possible.
It is estimated that three quarters of all clashes occurs at speeds up to 30 km/h - that is, it is mainly the city. A flagrant fact is especially noted: the culprit of every second registered kiss in the ass ... did not even try to slow down! The reason: a banal distraction of attention - tuned the radio, cooked, wiped the snot for a child, answered the SS, counted the raven ... If you know such sins, then you are a client of the City Safety system.
She works like that. The laser eye, installed in the manner of a kind of periscope in the upper part of the windshield in the center, monitors a 10-meter piece of road in front of the car. If an object of a potential collision arises in this zone (with a reflecting surface of 1 sq. M or more) - for example, the feed of a standing or sharply slowed down car - and your speed is not higher than 30 km/h, automatic braking is turned on to a complete stop. If the rapprochement rate does not exceed 15 km/h, the collision will not happen. If above - up to 30 km/h - the car will slow down to the maximum possible, and the blow will be weakened. I note that if you are cooling the steering wheel when you are triggered by the City Safety system, it immediately takes your hands, that is, it will turn off, realizing that you decided to go around the obstacle.
So, we checked all this, using whitening in the quality of beating as boys (more precisely, for non -allections) inflatable car models - everything works great! The boys remained unbearable. True, it was light and clean, and we were warned that the visitor’s vision could decrease in fog, rain and snowfall, and especially with a dirty periscope. But the latter is our concern. This machine does so much for us, so at least the periscope is not too lazy to keep clean. (By the way, he falls into the zone of operation of the wipers.)
The fact that City Safety is really effective is evidenced by the fact that many European insurers give 15-30 percent discounts at the XC60 CASCO. And they are greedy and can count money. Especially ours are with you.
Just not sandword. The test drive in Valencia and its environs did not imply any off-road-only the city, the autobahn and serpentines on the hills. When we gathered at sea in our free time, we wanted to jump there along the coastal dunes, but the Volovites, learning about this, prayed in chorus: no, not in the sand! Say, firstly, spoil the body paint, and secondly, this is a SUV, so take it accordingly. Well, we reacted so. The transmission is really parquet (this is not a collision, but a statement of fact), with the latest generation Haldex; Well, as for the high-stay high, at 230 mm, clearance, then what to test it-and it is so clear that in Russian road-climatic realities it will not forever be superfluous. Yes, and just nice - I'm sitting high, I look far away ...
Two versions rolled along the roads-a gasoline T6 and diesel D5, both with a 6-speed automatic. Motors are powerful, in all modes they behave quite worthy; I especially liked the pickup from the bottom. Interestingly, the gasoline on the bottom turned out to be even more burdensome than the diesel engine: both give out a torque of 400 nm, but if the diesel extends to the peak of the moment at 2000 revolutions (which is normal), then gasoline already at 1,500 (which is very, very, very). It is clear that the powerful difference is a hundred strength, but still ... the machine was slightly disappointed, but only slightly. There is a certain viscous imposing in his behavior. However, this is a matter of taste. At the XC60, if desired, you can light it, but on all habits this is still not a lighter, I do not like a ripped driving. It is better so: powerful, fast - but smoothly.

The abundance of electronics has already ceased to scare us. However, she still gives rise to discontent. So the colleagues had to suffer with navigation. Please note: the problem was not with the work of GPS itself and not with the display of information. Errors somewhere in the algorithm for calculating the optimal path. Most likely, Volvo has nothing to do with this-such and such programs are almost always developed by a third-party supplier.
