The first large universals of Volvo began to make, scary to say, more than 50 years ago (the PV445 release model 1953). It is not surprising that the company remains a recognized leader in the production of station wagons, which the language does not turn to call sheds, even despite their internal dimensions, which are quite corresponding to these architectural structures of central Russia. The Volvo V70, which replaced the 850 Wagon model back in 1997, actually absorbed many eminent competitors with its impressive size. And the last generation of seventy, this gap was only aggravated, because, unlike the predecessor built on the basis of the S60 sedan with a attached cargo compartment, the V70 of the 2008 model year took the flagship of the Swedish brand S80. Hence the noticeably increased dimensions of both the car itself and its internal space. The number of millimeters added in all dimensions can already be folded into meters, and an additional 55 liters in the luggage compartment do not even require comments: a huge trunk can accommodate an extra bag of cement ... Although, excuse me, such luxurious universals are not created for that. . And the Swedes especially emphasized this, trying to give the appearance of the novelty rapid features, unloading its body with certain design techniques. The long side glass of the luggage compartment does not at all weight the stern, but rather gives it some airiness. In a word, very stylish and even with a certain raid of sports.
 

The interior of the salon of the new Volvo V70 is in no way inferior, and in some details it even exceeds the salons of German classmates. The assembly quality at the highest level is consistent with the status of the donor. Many interior elements are well known to the suspended central console, and a multifunction steering wheel that migrated from the last eighties. Services of the pillows and backs, as well as adjustments in the height of a driver's seat with memory for three steering ones, of course.
 

The climate, cruise and other pleasant little things. In general, inside the seventy you immediately feel both the price of the car and the manufacturer's care for its inhabitants. It is intended for high-speed driving. Comfortable and sports is understandable from the names. The second noticeably adds stiffness to the suspension and makes the steering wheel sharper, although even with Advanced the car will not behave like a sports car, still the safety of Volvo remains in the first place. In any case, the car does not start, behaves predictably and controls the situation regardless of the driver. By the way, for seventy is also proposed a branded AWD drive system. This is a well -known Volovian mechanism where the front wheels perform the main work. If they slip, the rear begins to connect on an increase. Checking the operation of the system in a test car, I, deliberately exceeding the speed at a desert intersection, began to enter the turn first went to the side of the front wheels, only when the gas was added, the sliding stopped, letting the car complete the turn in a pleasantly tickling nerves with light drift, characteristic of the rear -in -laws. It is curious that the contrasting system of seventy admits these liberties. This is probably so that some zealous drivers can feel the main ones at the wheel of V70. Seventy and new motors went. Only a 4.4-liter remained with the S80. V70 can be equipped with three gasoline and two diesel engines. True, for Russia, the gamut of engines is more modest than the basic 200-horsepower 5-cylinder with one turbine, then six (3.2 l) and a 6-cylinder turbo engine with a volume of 3.0 l under the T6 index. An interesting unit, I must tell you. As the specialists say, delicious. At the beginning of the acceleration, he thinks a little, but through a split second, he spills out such a stream of energy that only hold on. After 2000 rpm under the hood, the turbine comes to life, and under a pleasant pressing in the back of the seat, the car starts to devour the road.
