The new hatchback Volvo has a wonderful education: it was formed from the S40 sedan. However, it is perceived more likely an independent model, and not a certain derivative obtained by stopping the trunk in the magpie.

In the case of a Volvo-C30, a good tone will begin an acquaintance in a dog manner from the task. Not sniffing, though, but thorough examination of it. With mandatory admiration and calling for salivation only that way. Charming food!

But the nose is exactly S40, it is only powdered by its own headlights with a dark edging and a slightly modified bumper. Hmm, could the Swedes not have to draw a nose more poxpressively to such a marvelous feeder? And then the real from the back of the couture, and the front is just in-A-port: ordinary Volvomorda in order loses a bright car.

The discussion on the topic of what is the lid of the trunk of glass without a door or a glass door, I will not breed. For me, this is nothing more than a window. In the fight of practicality and design, the latter begins and wins. On the sides, the trunk is firmly squeezed by the lafons of optics, climbing the back of the body on the roof itself, and the lower edge of the opening fully justifies the term loading height: really height!

And there are only 233 liters (to the window line, to the ceiling, the Swedes intended twice as much). True, as it should be hatch, the backs of the rear seats are laid out here, prolonging the trunk to the front seats. At least so ... However, all the most necessary for its owner C30 will easily take away: it is not a question to throw a sports bag to a fitness club. But four bags in the bowels of thirty may not fit.

By the way, all objects involved in the show behind glass can be hidden from prying eyes with a special curtain: hard or soft to choose from and for additional money.

There are four of us, while we are still together

So, the internal layout of C30 implies exactly four separate chairs for the company traveling together. The loading of fellow travelers begins with the rear seats is not a sofa, as usual, but two separate chairs, between the backs of which the gap gaps into the trunk of the width exactly into the armrest. However, if you raise it, the gap will close. An interesting fact: the notorious armrest is an option, but free. It must be stipulated when ordering! Without this free accessory, the salon and the trunk are doomed to forever reveal a single whole.

You can get into the second row only by shaking forward a driver or passenger chair. Moreover, there is a nuance. If the machine is equipped with electric drives of the seats, then the passage organization algorithm is as follows: we move the chair towards the windshield with a button, fold the back with a lever. Or vice versa. This process, quite long, looks somewhat awkward, since the servo drive rushes a chair forward with a tortoise speed. Meanwhile, on thirty -items, it is simpler, without electric glasses, the seats are carried forward in a moment, while falling with a back to the torpedo. But let's look in the eyes of the truth: do the owners often carry someone from behind? Oh, I doubt it!

It’s a pleasure to sit in front. Despite all the Swedish statements about S30 sports, the driver's seat has nothing to do with the bucket. The usual civilian seat, overwhelmed by all kinds of server regulations and memory completely unnecessary in my representation with functions that increase the cost of an already expensive machine. Everything here is like in S40. And the Slim Consol with a center of weather, music and numerous keys falling to the selector, too. Stylish, functionally, very good! And the steering wheel is at all a masterpiece: a chubby bagel with tide under the natural grip is inhabited by two types of skin and decorated with an aluminum insert in ton of the central console. On the knitting needles are very appropriate buttons about music and phone. By the way, the phone here is not simple, but especially smart: he is able to recognize the situation when the driver should not be distracted from the driving process by incoming challenge. Such a situation is understood as the switches, intensive steering, or, say, inhibition.

Since the length of the door of C30, like in most three days, is more than average, it would be uncomfortable to reach the seat belt over the shoulder. It is much easier to lower the hand down and feel the belt at the base of the chair, it usually lives there. And no rotational gymnastics, so here.

Of course, I can’t help but release the premium sound audio system with a 300-watt alpine amplifier and a dozen dynamics of Dinaudio. The sound is fantastic! The most interesting thing is that the sound in the flagship S80, equipped with the same music, was not too impressed with me. It turns out that the VSS itself has a number of own settings besides those that are spelled out in the head, and they have the strongest effect on the sound quality of the system as a whole. Presumably, they approached our C30 to set up an amplifier in our C30. Respect!

The fact that one hundred and seventy ELES of a 2.4-liter in-line five for a golf-class hatchback is enough for the eyes, it is clear and without any test. With an automatic machine (and another transmission in a couple to this motor in Russia cannot be obtained) Volvo has an enviable dynamics, which is also supported by very good brakes. The box here is adaptive, but, being completely adequate in calm modes, with active driving it begins to gradually get confused in the programs. And the kikdown works completely with a second delay. And in manual mode, Girtronics could be more careful. But if C30 went to accelerate, then be sure: you won’t even have time to notice how to get into the penalty area! Moreover, the feeling of calm does not leave even in the mode of lasting: Volvo is pleasantly swiven, but not frighteningly fast.

And how does the declared sports manifest itself in corners? I can disappoint athletes: the excitement in the hatchback is not enough, it is not at all hot. C30 in a good way is very soft and predictable. And although the reactive effort on the steering wheel is weakly indicated, this does not interfere with the subtly feeling the machine. The suspension tightly collected with a stretch can even be called harsh (largely due to low -profile rubber). And there are practically no krenov!

But despite the lack of pronounced smoothness of the course as such, C30 still leaves the impression of a very comfortable machine. In addition, it is excellent: neither the motor, nor howling of wind, nor the rustle of tires bother the driver's ear and his guests.

Our C30 was equipped with a custom -made control system for the dead zones of BLIS. The thing is very sensible. But expensive: for one and a half thousand dollars you can turn your head.

Pricing answers

Needless to say, C30 is standing. Moreover, it is very good: in the performance for phlegmas with a modest 1.6-liter motor, and even in the basic configuration will pull $ 22,900. With a more logical motor for a broken machine (2 liters, 145 forces) C30 is four thousand more expensive, more than four thousand. At the same time, the equipment practically does not change: the wheels that grew into an inch explain a slightly different brake system with enlarged disks. Against this background, an additional payment of $ 3000 per car 2.4 liters per automatic transmission looks just insignificant, but here the equipment is the same. Well, to the top 220-horsepower version of T5 with 6-speed mechanics and without $ 38,400 at all, while the car is richer only on the rear spoiler, which in itself costs $ 400. Starting with hard stuffing, the cost of C30 can be completely lifted to the unimaginable heaven. For example, our car cost almost fifty thousand presidents as you like such a situation?

Alas, options for options that can save on each of them separately do not save the situation: they are pretty, but they are far from filling from the optimum. But you will probably want to pay extra for metallic (plus a thousand), heating the seats ($ 250), a standard alarm ($ 150), a curtain in the trunk ($ 200) ...

However, competitors Alfa-Romeo-147, Audi-A3 and BMW-116i are still more expensive. In addition, there is a volvo effect of novelty. The party will appreciate! And, of course, the design here is the ball: no one else has such a charming task.

Unlucky old

The Swedish idea of \u200b\u200bthe glass door is old, like ... Volvo-R1800ES, which appeared in 1971. The century of this machine turned out to be incompatible: two years later, the production of the 3-door almost the station wagon turned off, collecting a little more than eight thousand cars. But the glass door survived: in 1985, the 480th first front-wheel drive Volvo with a transverse engine set off in Holland from the assembly line. For a conservative brand, the model became a revelation: only the cleaning headlights were worth it! And safely at the mid -nineties.
