Over the years of implementation of the previous generation, Touareg, Volkswagen collected information from customers. And they learned by what roads, how fast and how far from the tractor their cars usually climb. The result of the survey deprived Touareg of status SUV in the basic configuration, which many auto -journalists quickly took advantage of the loss of this rogue.

Touareg has become more friendly
Rumors about the death of Touareg, the thunderstorms of the off -road are greatly exaggerated. Yes, now the set of offrout tools is not available to every buyer of the car, but only to those who need it. And to the one who is ready to pay a thousand seven hundred euros from above. For this amount, you can purchase a Terrain Tech package, which includes an all -wheel drive transmission with a handout, locks of the center and posterior inter -normal differentials. And no external differences! So recognizing a real gipper by his Touareg will not work. However, for those who want to highlight their VW in the stream of ordinary Tuaregs (after all, the car takes the third place in popularity in the Russian Federation among SUVs and crossovers), there are several options for decorating the body, such as chrome or R-packet.

Apparently, the sellers themselves do not really believe that most of their customers more often than usual climb their Touaregs further than the reasonable. Our test car has a 3.0-liter diesel V6 with a capacity of 240 hp under a hood. and an impressive torque of 550 nm. Terrain Tech is not included in the complete set, but there is a leather interior, navigation, cool acoustics and other options that have added up to about seven hundred thousand rubles.

The main difference between the new Touareg and the old in comfort. The car became more comfortable, and not only in terms of a more friendly layout of the cabin. The engine is for nothing that the diesel is almost soundless; The steering wheel spins easily, and the force increases geometrically with an increase in the rotation angle, and the seats (in the test version) have a dozen directions, including side support clamps. Yes, and the tread, it seems, became softer, as if engineering and testing at the training grounds and really drove all its excess weight from the mastodon. And I did not regret that for the whole day I was not in the ears in the mud for a minute, and the off-road air suspension mode turned on a couple of times only out of curiosity, mainly changing the stiffness of the shock absorbers with the sport-comfort wheel on the central tunnel. It turns out, the element of Touareg city?!

The differentiated approach of Volkswagen is justified at least in that it saves 1.7 thousand for most motorists, because they can be spent on other options. However, without an additional off -road amplification, Touareg does not bite to obstacles. Not monotive, after all. So far, between the axes of Touareg, the Torsen central differential, capable of distributing a moment in a ratio of 40:60, with the ability to transfer up to 65 percent of the thrust to the front axle or up to 85 percent to the rear.

As a gearbox on the new generation, Touareg debuted an 8-speed automatic transmission Aisin. Colleagues from other automobile media often complained about the sluggishness and thoughtfulness of the transmission along with gasoline engines, especially with the base V6. But in tandem with our diesel unit, the box almost did not interfere with the process of movement. The only thing that short diesel transfers change too often; And the machine gun is extremely reluctant to decrease, trying to accelerate as possible within the selected speed. Fortunately, the thrust of the diesel engine is sufficient, and the moment curve allows.

Inside Touareg has become more hospitable. The front panel is made of softer materials, and the quality of the finish is not inferior to competitors. A lot of functional keys that control the on -board computer, music and phone appeared on the steering wheel. The dashboard has lost unnecessary dials, and the entire space between the tachometer and the speedometer is used by the LCD display, which is displayed from navigation and other sidelines of the on-board computer.
 
Competitors are not asleep
According to the results of Russian sales, Touareg was in the three leaders among crossovers and SUVs, second only to Mitsubishi Outlander XL (read the test) and Toyota Landcruiser 200 (read the test). Currently, VW competitors are not weakened and are ready to contrast Touareg a lot. But more often the price. In particular, Volkswagen dealers themselves are afraid of Kia Mohave (read the test), which in the top design is ahead of the basic tuareg. At the same time, the quality of KIA recently has not weakened the onslaught and Land Rover closer to the Germans with their Discovery, prices for which start from 1.9 million rubles. The SUV is no worse for the congress from the asphalt, and the choice of engines (two diesel, one gasoline) allows customers to choose a car to their liking. Mitsubishi Pajero (read the test) is a little less technological and comfortable, but Touareg will not yield on the off-road, and at the price it offers a starting fee to a pagher club in the amount of 1,429,000 rubles.
