Volkswagen Passat Alltrack. Fedot, yes, not the same

Volkswagen Alltrack. Price: 1,491,000 p. On sale: since July 2012

Stanislav Pavlov, editor -in -chief, 40 years old, a driver’s experience for 22 years, travels to Subaru Forester.
The first meeting with Volkswagen Passat Alltrack took place in the Austrian Alps, when spring raged in almost all of Europe, but in those places the Snow Queen was in no hurry to leave her position.
With warm, but at the same time, numerous skiers used in snowy weather, which hurried to stock up on their impressions until the next December.
Let's start with the main thing. So, what is Alltrack different from the usual Volkswagen station wagon? If we talk about design, the debutant stands out with original bumpers, dilated wheeled arches and thresholds. At the same time, engineers made changes that facilitate driving on bad roads. This refers to the angle of the ramp and the entrance angle, an increased clearance and additional bottom protection. Some aggression and confidence that the car is capable of driving off -road, add impressive 17 -inch wheels.

Due to the smaller clearance, VW Passat Alltrack holds the snow road even better than crossovers
We look into the salon. Immediately striking the overlays on the thresholds of stainless steel with the inscription Alltrack. Convenient seats are made with partial use of Alcantara. The interior contains silver applications and pedal aluminum. Otherwise, Passat is as passat.

The salon of an all -wheel drive car does not shine with originality unless beige notes hint at improved cross -country ability
What are German marketers counting on? What will make motorists overpay 400 thousand rubles? The bet, of course, is made on the 4Motion all -wheel drive, exactly what is installed on Tiguan. The route of our test ran from German Munich to Austria. When the car was moving along the autobahn, the drive was carried out exclusively on the front axle. As experts later explained, only 10% of the torque was sent to the rear wheels. This can significantly save gasoline. The rear axle is connected only if necessary, for example, when the front wheels begin to slip. The rear axle is connected using an electro -hydraulic clutch of all -wheel drive. To activate it does not require the difference in rotation of the front and rear axles, since the electric pump is responsible for the pressure. All Passat Alltrack options are equipped with the Offroad mode. The off -road mode is turned on using the button on the central console, as evidenced by a special LED.

The front part almost does not differ from the standard Passat only the Alltrack logo makes you think about the additional capabilities of the car
Passat Alltrack is suitable for those who are looking for a middle ground between an SUV and a station wagon. Let's say a person lives in Moscow, but from time to time it is chosen in the winter out of town, for example, for barbecue. There is no point in buying a large rogue, but Volkswagen Passat Alltrack is fully suitable.

Our verdict
Volkswagen Passat Alltrack is an ideal compromise between sedan and crossover. I would recommend this car for those who live in the Russian city, but at the same time, from time to time, they are chosen for a cottage or nature. Alltrack will cope with the average, not very dangerous off -road.
