Subaru Legacy West drive sedan since 2009 sedan
Exhibition of achievements
It seems that the blood had not yet managed to cool after the hours that was lucky enough to spend with Subaru Impreza WRX, and I already had an acquaintance with the most expensive machine of the Japanese brand. Legacy Outback H6 3.0 - this is how the full name of this car sounds. There were many expectations, especially since even the usual outback did not fall into us yet. In some ways they were justified, in something-no. But I will not be ahead of events.First of the turn, I would like to congratulate Subaru on the entry into the club of manufacturers of six -cylinder opposite layout engines. The club is elite and small, very, say, small, say - until recently, only the German company Porsche AG consisted of it. However, if you think that the H6 engine is created so that Outback is even faster, even more aggressive, you are deeply mistaken. This modification is not a charged version, as it could have been assumed, but a kind of demo, the purpose of which is to show the whole world the technological potential of the Fuji corporation, which owns the Subaru brand. Therefore, the standard equipment of the machine includes not only those devices and mechanisms that allow you to get more pleasure from the process of active car management - as a new motor and all -wheel drive transmission VTD -AWD of the latest generation - but also those that work for the opposite effect. For example, an automatic box and a dynamic stabilization system VDC. It’s good that in the advantages of a self -leveling rear suspension with pumping shock absorbers, there is no doubt. However, not only the presence or absence of data from systems is important, it is important how they function in practice. Wait and see.
Outwardly, the six -cylinder Outback is no different from simpler performance, except perhaps with nameplate. But nothing was required to change anything - the car is already good. He is beautiful in his own way, in the same way. By the way, other versions of the car are already ready for Subaru - the SUS sedan and the SUP pickup - but they are never launched into the series, since there are reasonable doubts that they will look just as advantageous. The station wagon makes the impression of a complete composition. Moreover, it can be studied for a long time, discovering all new details for yourself - a broken profile of a side skirt or tides on the roof, from which relings grow. Or a barred fog. Stainless doors still look super-sagging, now if the back door windows fell completely
The real fair of vanity turned in the cabin. Beige leather, wood inserts. Luxurious Momo steering wheel from perforated leather and natural wood. Electric drives of driver's seat adjustments. Two hatches, also on an electrician: the front lifting, the rear shift completely. Combined CD/Cassette player. Four airbags. And constant reminders about where you are: N6 3.0 nameplate near the gearbox lever and the inscription with Outback with each seat on the backs of each seat. Dear and immodest! But how practical?
The driver's seat is good - moderately soft, with reliable lateral support and effective adjustment of the lumbar backup. The dashboard with metal -ringed metal dials is read as if I had looked at it all my life. Zero claims to the steering wheel, however, the range of adjustment in height will arrange only people of small or medium height. Holding switches are overloaded with functions, and it will take a certain time to adapt to them. Under the left foot is a convenient platform - a thing on a car with a machine gun is simply indispensable. The correct geometry of the racks and full -fledged external mirrors did everything possible to ensure excessive visibility, but the whole picture (more precisely, the view in the salon mirror) spoil the head restraints of the rear seats.
The central console is decorated with two green backlit displays: air conditioning and the head structure of the speaker system. The brightness of the displays is regulated, and in a very unexpected way - the Off air conditioner button and the Power of the musical installation. Nearby there is a retacence cup holder who is folded in a vertical position. Somewhere I already saw it for sure, on Saab 9-5! The car is also specific, but a completely different breed.
At the back, of course, there is neither heating, nor abundant adjustments, but you feel spacious and comfortable here. And these feelings can be divided with only one person, for the presence of the third will immediately violate the prevailing harmony. It will be crowded and uncomfortable. About the trunk. The cargo compartment of the station wagon of increased cross -country ability is not at all like a Mercedes decorative trunk. It does not play the role of the role, so the layout of the cargo compartment is of great importance. The notorious bags of potatoes and shabby refrigerators have nothing to do in it, but Outback’s sports equipment is obliged to accommodate and take intact. But the car will not hit the mud in the mud: in the trunk there is a curtain that hides its contents from prying eyes, and two hatches in the floor, under which containers are for all trifles. The rear seat is formed in a ratio of 2: 1, as a result of which a flat platform is formed, allowing two travelers to take with them everything that will please, up to bicycles.
It seems to have not forgotten anything. Now you can have a motor with a calm conscience, transfer the transmission selector to position D and crush the right pedal. The engine is simply magnificent: not only is it pulling from the bottom like a diesel engine, not only that takes a half -ton car playing forward, but also with the sound that pampering! Noble, exciting. Outback without any tension breaks away from the stream, and the images of the pursuers in the mirrors are smaller with every second. One can only assume how drunk the overwhelming will be the advantage of the machine on slippery winter roads. And powerful brake mechanisms with ABS will help to extinguish the agility of the car.
Skillfully accompanies the motor machine, neatly leaf through the gear. In Power mode, switching occur later and sharper, acceleration becomes subjectively more intense, but also more torn. This regime can provide real assistance for acceleration - for example, before overtaking. In other cases, the adaptive capabilities of the transmission are enough: box it itself is adjusted to the temperament of the driver. I went faster - and the programs began to switch faster. However, the automatic machine still answers with annoying delays to a sharp addition of gas, destroying the attack plan that has already developed in the head. The driver is deprived of the ability to brake by the engine: gas discharge does not mean that the transmission of the number below will be turned on. The reaction of the box here is not subject to. Definitely, a car of such a technical level deserves a more modern, advanced machine gun.
Before talking about handling, it is necessary to make a slight clarification. In standard modes, the VTD-AWD transmission distributes the torque between the front and rear wheels in the Watering 45:55. In other words, the rotality of the car is almost neutral, but the highlights for the sake of engineers added a drop of rear -wheel drive habits to it. When slipping the wheels of one of the axes, VTD-AWD redistributes the torque until a new, optimal ratio is reached. I admit that on the dry road I never managed to feel the very highlight. The controllability of the car is close to the ideal: it holds the straight line iron, each turn passes as long as a familiar. The steering is very transparent: clear, saturated with feedback. A sociable steering wheel reports on the approach to a critical line, which is extremely important for the machine without a pronounced tendency to demolition or skidding. Two other factors are increasing the roll of the body and the whistle of the tires. Of course, the security guard is always worth the VDC stabilization system, but its possibilities are not unlimited.
Let Outback behave confidently on the asphalt, but this is not one hundred percent of his elements. Here is gravel - another thing. However, poetic descriptions of the fountains of sand from under the wheels and passages of turns in controlled drifts I can’t offer you. For a simple reason - there was nothing like that. Neither picturesque fountains, nor the soul of drifts. The highest electronic mind did not allow. Starting from the score with the scrolling of the wheels does not give the assembly system. It is entrusted with the function of the so -called electronic imitation of the interior differential blocking - brakes of slipping wheels allows leave the torque on wheels that have the best coating clutch. So if you threaten to get stuck in the mud puddle, feel free to press on the gas - it will already be the problem of electronics for which you will pay a lot of money.
On gravel turns Outback is inclined to hang a tail barely noticeably - 10% of the moment in favor of the rear axle affects - but the slightest tendency to develop drift is instantly suppressed by the vindictive VDC. Incidentally, the Japanese did not dare to make it disconnected, as on similar cars of competitors - apparently a powerful motor and not the most outstanding gearbox, they themselves considered it an explosive mixture.
Even on country roads, the connection of the driver and the car remains reliable: the suspension is perfectly dealt with bumps and does not strive to change the trajectory of the machine movement. There are no breakdowns and at all, but the only thing you have to fear is the contact of the front bumper with the ground. The excellent smoothness of the Outback is also demonstrates in the city: pits, protruding hatches, seams - everything is nothing to him. Well, maybe the body will swing once or twice, no more. The suspension stubbornly holds passengers in the ignorance of what is happening under the wheels.
Who is the address of Outback H6? In my opinion, those who are used to getting everything to the maximum who want to possess the most subarous Subaru, but are not eager to experience their skills in a duel with a car. But what about the one who likes the appearance and functionality of the station wagon, but who is not ready to put up with the totalitarian power of electronics and an awkward mediation of the machine? Such a buyer can be advised to pay attention to the version with a 2.5-liter engine and a manual box. In dynamics, you will not lose anything, but with a fair amount of luxury you will have to say goodbye. However, if you consider yourself to be the true connoisseurs of Subaru brand technique, you can come to terms with this loss.
