Ssangyong Rexton 2001 test drive - 2006 SUV

Neo -Futurism

The diesel panels of diesel and gasoline Mondeo repeat each other. You can distinguish a diesel in two details: the indicator of heating candles of incandescent and a small kangaroo with the inscription Rexton, the plastic technology wavy and the Multi-Meter information system, of course, deserves attention. But the main reason why the wheels again turn to Ssangyong Rexton, the engine. The new one almost said no, this turbodiesel, made under the Mercedes-Benz license, has long been known and is famous for its indestructibility. And even if he is not as strong and technically perfect as the ultramodern Common-Rail-Diesel with direct injection, but the domestic diesel fuel will not cause him a rejection. In addition, a turbodiesel in combination with a mechanical gearbox on a heavy SUV looks quite natural: it is immediately clear that the off -road qualities of a car for the owner are more important than a menacing appearance and impressive dimensions.

So, turbodiesel plus mechanics. From the very first outbreaks in the cylinders, diesel is recognized unmistakably, but not at all by sound. Rectona sound insulation has been worked out at a very high level, but intelligible vibration on the lever of the box in open text reports that the motor is under the hood. The dynamics of the car does not cause enthusiasm. Touching from the place reveals a lack of torque, forcing the driver to smoothly work as a clutch pedal. The mechanical box is perceived as the benefit of everything that the engine issues can be used as efficiently as possible until the very last horse. True, the first gear ends too fast, and all subsequent ones seem much longer, but you immediately get used to it. As well as a rather tight switching mechanism, the manipulation of which gives rise to associations with a powerful door bolter. It feels like the lever itself has a certain supply of inertia. All that needs to overcome the significant resistance of the curtains and set the direction of inclusion of the transmission and then the lever itself is in the right place.

In general, riding on renotes does not allow you to forget that you are managing a heavy SUV. The treatment of any control organs, whether it is a gearbox lever, a steering wheel or pedal, requires certain efforts. However, this is a necessary component of the image of the car of a durable and serious.

And once again we will pay tribute to the soundproofing of the machine: the sound of the engine, tires and other noises reach the ears of passengers in the minimum volume and a strongly filtered version. By the way, the Aerodynamics of Rectona by off -road standards is very worthy: the aerodynamic resistance coefficient is only 0.39.

The car that has been on our test was equipped with a Multi-Meter system, which tells all the inhabitants of the machine, interesting, but not the most useful information. On a large information display, you can find an electronic compass, barometer and an altimeter, as well as see the cartoon about how quickly you are going.

From the second floor of the traffic flow, make out a cork at the intersection and turn into the nearest through courtyard, hooligan maneuver to go around the sidelines on the suburban highway, drag a trailer with a snowmobile to the phase on a high curb and in a favorable place next to the office here is the daily life of the SUV. And in this role, Rexton will be very good.

Love at first glance is about him. I am convinced that the immodest bright design of the renovation, performed in the style of neo -functioning, will become the main factor for many when choosing this car as a life partner.

The car is provided by Autobalt.
During the test, the car is insured by LLC Nation Center.
