I stand next to the huge wing of the rear door, staring at the Skoda-Superb salon. Irritation is replaced by surprise - or no one moved anything?! And no one interferes with the standard exercise planting after itself. Just the back of the driver's seat adjusted to my 180 cm turned out to be unusually far ahead. So much so that, sitting in the back, I found in front of my knees almost a quarter meter of space! I invite a couple of large colleagues in 195 and 197 cm. Such a huge interior is obtained by a well -known, although not often used in mass machines. Having taken one of the Volkswagen platforms - in this case, B5 from the Passat, it was lengthened in the rear seats for 100 mm. Logic is obvious: top models have to perform representative functions. Therefore, the largest business departments are produced by firms that do not have representative models in their line: Nissan Maxim, Opel Omega, Peugeot 607, Volvo S80. Almost caught up with them in overall dimensions, Skoda Superb was far ahead of everyone along the length of the cabin. If you do not take into account the emblem and the characteristic cladding of the radiator, it is not so easy to distinguish superb from the passat - both anfas, and the models are very similar to the profile. But take a closer look: the opening of the back door of Skoda covers the side window entirely (like Octavia), and the passato of the opening of the opening passes along the window stand.
 
You feel German roots here literally E -Ee ... with your back - it is worth sinking into hard bowl -shaped, almost anatomical, seats. The car in a modest configuration The classic does not differ in a wealth of equipment and finishes, but it pleases with the accurate elements, accurate execution, and attention to trifles, which is already familiar to cars from Mlad-Boleva. A powerful motor, a dense landing, a comfortable thick steering wheel, a short lever of gearboxes similar to a switch - all this makes you forget that a whole room is behind. The complete feeling that you are sitting if not in sports, then, at least, in a well -charged car. And I want to go, having drowned the accelerator pedal to the floor, with a cold in the chest from rapid acceleration. A rather stiff suspension adds a fraction of adrenaline, shaking conscientiously on potholes. However, by frozen, you understand that this is still not a sports car - in corners on irregularities the car significantly rearranges, you need correction with a steering wheel. Yes, and stretching in front of his eyes, like a comb, a substetrician on a massive hood recalls: the element of Skoda -Superb is a flight along a good highway. Moreover, the flight is silent - even at a maximum speed of about 240 km/h, a quietly working radio drowns out all external noises!
 
The adapted version of the Skoda-Superb with increased road clearance and metal protection of the motor compartment will be supplied to Russia. The first cars will appear in May-June. Prices promise very attractive for a car of this class: from $ 22 thousand per car in the configuration of a classic with a motor of 1.8 liters to $ 32 thousand for a well -equipped eleganes 2.8 liters. The guarantee is given two years or 30 thousand km. The cost of a test car is $ 27 thousand.
 
 
 

At last year's Geneva salon, Skoda showed a prototype Montreus on an elongated Volkswagen-passata platform, and in the fall the car went into a series called Superb.
