Skoda Octavia RS Hatchback test drive since 2009 hatchback

Long -term Skoda Octavia RS test. Part 2: Turbonature

For two weeks, Skoda Octavia RS has been living in our garage. There are enough impressions during this time.

In the first part of this long test, we have already noted one of the main differences between Skoda Octavia RS from the rest of the hot-shaktchei huge trunk and a spacious interior. Well, it's time to talk about the technical component.

So, RS-ka is equipped with a 2-liter TSI turbo engine, familiar to us on the Volkswagen Golf GTI and Scirocco hatchback. In the case of Skoda, the engine power is 200 hp. and 280 Nm. Paired with the engine, a 6-speed pre-sequent DSG with two clutches is installed. There are also mechanics, but such machines do not supply such machines, as well as the station wagons, and after all, more than half of all European sales of RSC falls on them. Still, try to find a loaded golf class station wagon. True, more recently, in this niche, Skoda has a competitor in the form of the Ford Focus ST station wagon.

Skoda Octavia RS is equipped with the VW Golf GTI and Scorocco with a 2.0-liter turbo engine with 200 hp. RS-ki is supplied to Russia only in combination with a robotic DSG transmission with two clutches. This Skoda accelerates up to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds, yielding to a more powerful 211-strong Golf GTI only 0.3 seconds.

According to the passport, Octavia RS gains 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds, but in fact, due to the explosive nature of the turbo engine, it seems faster. The more gambling 211-strong VW Golf GTI Octavia RS is inferior to only 0.3 seconds, with a 200-horsepower VW Scirocco in Skoda Parity! Acceleration is powerful and assertive. After pressing the floor pedal, a semi -second pause, characteristic of the DSG box, and then acceleration, accompanied by a surge at medium speeds.

The dynamics is good at starting from a place and at high speeds, and the decline in traction begins to affect only closer to 160 km/h, despite the fact that the declared maximum speed of the hechtbek is 242 km/h. But with the accelerator pedal, you must be careful. Due to a small move, overdoing with gas supply is easier. The engine strives to tear the front wheels into a slip and Octavia RS immediately tries to walk with his nose, but on guard, an anti -Bucket, which can extinguish an extra portion of the moment.

The torque of the torque at this engine is indicated from 1800 to 5000 rpm, but it becomes truly dynamic RS-ka after 3 thousand. It is not in vain, transferring the transmission into a sports regime, DSG tries not to lower the arrow below this mark, because in this case the motor is in the most effective zone and the transmission does not need to spend precious time on excess switching. In addition, in sports, the box effectively uses switching to lower gears, not only keeping the motor in good shape for possible acceleration, but also helping to slow down with the engine.

The average fuel consumption of Octavia RS, depending on the driving style, can range from 7.5 to 13.0 liters per 100 km of path. A good result, given the explosive disposition of this hatchback.

Having moved from combat Sport to a regular drive, DSG begins to save and immediately reaches the 6th gear at 60-70 km/h. At the same time, fuel consumption also falls. My record is in a calm mode of the Dachy city without strong congestion about 7.8 liters per 100 km/route. If you go cheerfully with frequent overtaking, and then immediately get into a blank cork, then the appetite of Skoda grows to 12-12.5 liters. Given the capabilities of the car, this is a very good result.

To be continued...
