Long -term PEUGEOT RCZ: cost cost and final verdict

Having calculated the expenses during the monthly Peugeot RCZ test, comparing them with the price of the car and estimating how much the owner of such a car will have to be spent in the first year of ownership, the motor found out that the French compartment for its money gives too much pleasure.

Cars are getting more expensive. Either restyling will pass, then a new generation will appear. Inflation also does not stand still, and the state periodically complicates the life of dealers and consumers with additional gaps. Now, when a well-equipped golf-class car can cost more than a million rubles, an amount of 1.35 million, which dealers ask for a limited version of the PEUGEOT RCZ Black Yarings, a fairly reasonable waste. Especially when you take into account the appearance of this machine and its excellent sled habits.

What will the buyer receive for an additional 150 thousand compared to the usual RCZ compartment on the handle, which is sold for 1 199,000 rubles? Outwardly, the Black Yarling version can be recognized by the original 19-inch Soltice discs, black calipers and a special black tint Noir Perla Nera, diluted with sand aluminum of massive arches of the roof. Plus, rotary bixenon headlights with a washer and a salon tightened into the skin. But there is one useful thing that our modification was deprived of: there is a dock that is on cars with 18-inch tires. Instead, a remote control and a compressor with which it is scary to go on a long journey.

But if there is a desire to save, then it is quite possible to dwell on the basic version of the RCZ. Xenon is not even required at all, it is better to always have a doom in Russia with you, and the value of 19 -inch shoes is generally very doubtful: the wheels clearly beat each joint and really do not like a rut. And you can buy RCZ for the same money in a top 200-horsepower version with rotary fists in the front suspension. And this is the most correct option.

Nevertheless, for those who still believe that 1,350,000 rubles are expensive for such a car, we have chosen five more cars on which you can spend this amount:


In terms of controllability, the main trump card RCZ, the French compartment from this list is second only to the hot hatch Renault Megane RS. But in terms of involvement in the driving process, these cars are very close. This is because RCZ belongs to that rare breed of cars that do not smooth out, but on the contrary, exacerbate the sensations from driving. It seems to be only 156 forces, simple suspensions, but there are more than enough drive. You roll at a speed of 120 kilometers per hour, but it seems that you drive under 160! In a familiar turn, the fellow traveler suddenly clings to the door handle, it seems to him that this is the limit of the capabilities of the coupe, but in reality, Peugeot is only at a walking pace.

RCZ is a catalyst for driver sensations. And this is his huge plus.

PEUGEOT RCZ makes the driver feel really involved in the management process. The gear lever is clearly walking in grooves, gas responsiveness is better than that of the Peugeot 308 hatchback-donor, and the information from the steering wheel is so true that sometimes you generally doubt the presence of an amplifier. The emotions and a hard suspension are aggravated with 19 -inch discs, and worthless sound insulation. Everything is heard: the engine with modest sobs of the turbine, and the clatter of the gearbox, and the work of suspensions, and the whistle of the wind. And all this is also part of the RCZ sports surroundings.

Cons are traditional for cars with a body compartment: two -month and cross -country ability, sacrificed to beauty. A long and low (140 millimeters) front overhang, which, even in the summer, delivered certain inconvenience, casts into question the possibility of trouble -free winter operation. And the main advantage of formal rear seats is that they develop, increasing the volume of the trunk to impressive 760 liters. But the low opening will still not allow loading the overall cargo.

The RCZ salon initially satisfied the number of containers for trifles. But later it turned out that the only useful compartment is the one under the microclimate block, with a rubberized bottom. The pockets in the doors are too narrow and they have no compartments for bottles, and the cup holder is so small that even a jar of soda does not hold in it. The boxing box is also tiny, but it has AUX and USB inputs.

One cannot help but complain about the completely ridiculous algorithm for controlling the wipers. The problem is that the rain sensor cannot be simply turned off with one press. It turns on by swinging the steering wheel lever down, and turns off the wipers with the transfer of the wipers into the intermittent operation mode and the subsequent return of the lever to zero. Unknown. But swing brushes clean the large surface of the windshield, almost without leaving dirty areas.

By the way, RCZ has excellent visibility, especially when driving in reverse: you can look into large mirrors, or you can just turn back and almost rest your nose into the rear bulge glass. You sit, as under a transparent cap. Only massive front racks are inconvenient, which interfere with look inside the turn.

But nothing prevents us from looking into the wallet of the owner of Peugeot RCZ and see how much he will have to spend on his car in the first 12 months of ownership. Traditionally, we consider expenses for a driver over 22 years old, with trouble -free driving experience for more than three years that lives in Moscow. Usually we take a mileage for a year equal to 20 thousand kilometers, but for a compartment that will hardly be operated in the winter with high intensity, we decided to reduce this figure to 15 thousand kilometers.

In exchange for the fan from driving that RCZ is able to give every day, it requires quite a bit: the average consumption for a long test was only 9.8 liters per 100 kilometers. He consumed the same, for example, much less hot Audi A1 1.4 TFSI. And the 1.4-liter Opel Corsa atmospheric required 10.5 liters per hundred with incomparably worse dynamics and rather fresh controllability. It turns out that at an average price of 30 rubles per liter of 95th gasoline, over 1470 liters for 44 100 rubles will eat Peugeot RCZ for the year.

The average cost of CASCO for Peugeot RCZ in insurance companies with a rating of A+ and above will be about 115,000 rubles. For the CTP policy, you will have to pay 6336 rubles. Transport tax on 156-horsepower RCZ in Moscow 5928 rubles. The cost of TO-1 has an official dealer of about 8,000 rubles.

For comparison, Opel Corsa from our garage in the same operating mode would go 3 rubles 60 kopecks, and on the Chevrolet Orlando 3 rubles 93 kopecks (but taking into account TO-1). So it turns out that the possession of a sports compartment is not at all as expensive, as it seems at first. Do PEUGEOT RCZ have direct competitors? Let's figure it out.

Mazda MX-5
Despite the fact that the Mazda MX-5 happens with the rear-wheel drive, we decided to put it in competitors as an ideological enemy. The third generation of the legendary relatives, produced since 2005, in 2008 underwent the first restyling, and in the current one more. All cars that Russian dealers offer are sold only with a hard folding roof, so you can ride MX-5 even in winter. The cheaper costs MX-5 with a 126-horsepower engine 1.8 and five-speed mechanics from 1,126,000 rubles. The Sport version with a two -liter (160 forces) engine on a handle with six gears is estimated at 1,301,000 rubles. Comfort modification with the same engine, but on the machine will cost 1,326,000 rubles.

Toyota GT86 and Subaru Brz
The Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ, recently debuted in Russia, are also equipped with rear-wheel drive. At the moment, in the Russian market, this is one of the most interesting offers in the class of still budget, but already hot coupe. The engine is available only one two-liter 200-horsepower opposition. If Subaru offers the only fixed and expensive (1,436,000 rubles) configuration, then Toyota has three of them: eleganes (1,353,000 rubles), prestige (1,412,000 rubles) and luxury (1,483,000 rubles). The first two are only on the handle, luxury only with a gun. Hyundau Genesis Coupe
The Korean look at the small and not very expensive Hyundai Genesis Coupe compartment, which has recovered restyling not so long ago. Now Genesis Coupe can only be bought with a new eight-speed automatic and in the only, rather rich conformance configuration, with the only engine of a turbocharged 250-horsepower four. Price 1,599,000 rubles. Versions with the V6 3.8 engine (303 horsepower) from the Genesis sedan, as before, are not available in Russia. But in Germany, for example, sports modifications of 3.8 GT with a 30 millimeters with a suspension and 19-inch discs OZ Ultraleghera (41,990 euros) are also sold.

Audi TT
A premium competitor for Peugeot Rcz Audi TT. It is with this car that RCZ is most often compared, even despite the fact that the prices for the German coupe are significantly higher. The cheapest version of TT is a front-wheel drive modification with a 160-horsepower 1.8 TFSI engine on mechanics (from 1,563,800 rubles for a poor configuration). The version with a 211-horsepower 2.0 TFSI engine costs at least 1,797,600 rubles, and the S Tronic robot adds another 71 thousand to the price. The Audi TT version with Quattro all -wheel drive, a robot and a 2.0 TFSI engine will cost 1 952,600 rubles. In addition, TT can also be purchased in sports versions of S and RS, as well as in the back of Roadster.

What is the end? We believe that RCZ should take a closer look at those who are looking for a charged hatchback. Ideologically, it is this class that is closest to a pseudo -sports compartment like RCZ or Volkswagen Scirocco, built on the basis of civilian models. Moreover, even the basic RCZ is quite hot, although it is better to choose a 200-horsepower version even more acute and dynamic. And the price of 1,299,000 rubles for such a modification seems completely justified.

Of course, the choice of hot chetch for that kind of money is also not bad, but Peugeot has another strong vision of their appearance. And a real two -door body.
