PEUGEOT RCZ test drive since 2009 compartment
PEUGEOT RCZ test drive:
Not having time to debut in Frankfurt in 2007, the concept of Peugeot RC Z caused many conflicting opinions. The ill-wishers immediately accused Peugeot of plagiarism due to the similarity of the silhouette of the French concept and Audi TT, while others, on the contrary, read a brilliant future to the car.Bold Frenchmen conducted a series of argument and not paying attention to skeptics and took their compartment into serial production. Moreover, instead of the traditional digital designation of the model, which are traditionally used for models with the emblem of the lion on the hood, for the new sportkup made an exception. As a result, the name RCZ also received the inheritance from the PEUGEOT style concept.
PEUGEOT RCZ is a 100 percent development of a French company built on the PEUGEOT 308 hatchback platform. The similarities do not end there, with three-hundred-axle RCZs, they paint suspensions, engines and gearboxes that migrated in a compartment with some changes.
With the nozzle hatchback Peugeot 308, the RCZ compartment is similar only to the design of the front. The rest of Dizwine was developed from scratch. For the first time, the concept of Peugeot RC Z was presented in Frankfurt back in 2007. By the way, the serial RCZ owes its bright appearance to the prototype, the design of which was borrowed almost unchanged.
PEUGEOT RCZ chief German Boris Reinmoller tried to fame. At the sight of a beauty, there are no indifferent bugs. Muscular sides with outstanding wheel arches, a huge air intake in the front bumper, a relief hood and a cabin, a cabin, attracted to the front, attract the audience's gaze as a magnet. And the curved outlines of the roof, aluminum arcs above the doors, a non -standard rear window and an intricate window sill, ending with an original cripple passing from the door to the posterior window, fight even avid skeptics.
The interior is made with a claim to the premium. The front panel and door inserts are sheathed with leather, and instead of the central deflector, large arrow watches are installed. The steering wheel is excellent with castings for natural grip. RCZ borrowed the central console from the Peugeot 308.
The main intrigue is that the RCZ belonging to the Peugeot brand can only be on the branded front line with a large mouth and a branded lion on the hood. The car looks so stylish and original. It was not without typical French tricks: the doors and trunk lid are closed with excessive effort, and the arcs on the roof were disguised as aluminum plastic.
The interior was worked out without a flaw, and the interior decoration is here with a clear claim to the premium. The front panel borrowed from the same 308th is sheathed with soft skin pleasant to the touch. The steering wheel is cool, with a sports bevel and comfortable excavations for a grip, a high -quality plastic, and instead of a central duct, stylish arrow watches are mounted. Here, to the place, and the central console made of glossy black plastic and chrome cutting of the devices and the black ceiling finish. All elements of the cabin are made qualitatively and soundly.
Only one 1.6 liter gasoline turbo engine developed jointly with BMW is installed on the Peugeot RCZ. The same engine is equipped with the Mini Cooper S and the top version of the Peugeot 308. For RCZ, two forcing options are offered - 156 and 200 hp. Moreover, if in a pair to the 156-horsepower engine you can choose both a mechanical and automatic box, then a powerful version is offered only with manual transmission.
The first thing that catches your eye when you open a heavy door deprived of a framework, sports chairs matching modern sportsmen. In fact, they have established themselves well: the profile is excellent, the landing is low, but the support rollers are adjusted to large drivers, so the tenacity in the turns suffers a little. Ergonomics did not disappoint. The governing bodies are convenient, the chairs and steering rules are sufficient to conveniently sit in the cockpit. RCZ sins in small things: the steering wheel levers of the turn signals and the climate control of the climate control clearly lacks an effort, and the automatic transmission selector of clarity.
Even with a 156-horsepower engine and an automatic transmission, a compartment is quite briskly gaining speed and sensitively reacts to the gas pedal. Not least this is facilitated by a perfectly configured automatic machine. However, only the most powerful Peugeot RCZ can give real emotions.
Behind the place is purely symbolic. The road to adult passengers is closed there: their legs rest on the front backs and their heads in a sloping roof. But the volume of the trunk is a whole 321 liter, for the compartment just right. This is more than Volkswagen Scirocco and Audi TT. If you need to transport a more serious cargo, then decomposing the back of the rear sofa, the useful volume will increase to 639 liters. Under the floor, you can place a dock, but the test car was equipped with a full -sized stock that lay in a special case right in the trunk.
The main designer feature of Peugeot is a hilly roof, smoothly turning into the same rear window. The sidewalls bordinate aluminum arches, which later turned out to be ordinary plastic.
From the place of Peugeot RCZ with a 1.6-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 156 hp, developed together with BMW, it starts dashingly and pulls well from the bottom. With a six -speed automatic transmission, a separate work was clearly done. I remember it and we liked it so much during the presentation of the updated Peugeot 308 in the Crimea, but on the RCZ, the machine operates its six steps even better. If you go smoothly, then the box works to match, and it is worth stomping on the gas pedal, as the automatic transmission immediately cuts down, filling the salon with a pleasant roar of the turbo engine.
Nevertheless, you expect more pressure from such a bright car, and the 156-horsepower version is ready to share adrenaline only until the shooter exceeds the mark of 100 km/h. Further, more voluminous opponents begin to go forward, and the ardor of Peugeot gradually fades away. Neither the sports regime of the box, nor manual switching.
The main surprise was excellent handling. Efforts on the steering wheel are exactly as much as necessary. PEUGEOT RCZ feels great on both the straight line and in the bundle of turns. The only scourge is a semi -dependent back beam that is dancing on bumps and gives with deaf blows to the salon.
However, for annealing there is a forced version of Peugeot RCZ, where the same 1.6-liter turbo engine was inflated to 200 hp. And in the tandem, only six -speed mechanics are offered to it. In acceleration to 100 km/h, he wins for almost a second, and most importantly, he shoots better at speed.
The design of the RCZ suspensions is the same as the Peugeot 308: in front of MacPherson, a half -dependent beam behind. On the compartment only other shock absorbers, levers and upper supports of the racks were installed. With such a similarity with a civil hatchback, there is no need to wait for a recycled manage of a sports car from Peugeot RCZ. But from the first kilometers, the Frenchman pleased with clear reactions and a downed character. On a direct Peugeot is confident, and zero on the steering wheel, although not as clear as the best representatives of the German diaspora, but stability does not suffer and the driver does not need to keep the steering wheel with all his might at the sight of the rut on the asphalt.
The front buckets are not bad, but the support rollers are located too wide. For an additional fee, NAPPA skin and an electric drive with memory are offered.
The RCZ turn with a small roll, holds the trajectory confidently, and on the steering wheel there is a juicy reverse force that helps intuitively choose the desired angle of rotation of the wheels. Moreover, an adequate effort on the steering wheel is observed both on the highway and in the conjunction of steep turns. PEUGEOT willingly responds even to sharp attacks by a steering wheel and clearly follows the selected trajectory. A good combination of excitement and safety. Fighting with insufficient rotation, which can be provoked by exceeding the speed threshold at the entrance to the turn, the usual discharge of gas helps, after which the compartment is very neutral without developing the drift to the desired trajectory.
In the pricens of official peugeot dealers, RCZ coupe prices begin at a mark of 1 199,000 rubles, and the maximum packaged 200-horsepower version will cost 1,659,700 rubles.
The irregularities of our roads by Peugeot are harshly, but without a dentition inherent in most cars with sports settings. The energy intensity of a dense suspension is quite enough even for medium irregularities, but the pits can easily provoke a breakdown. The echo of kinship with the Peugeot 308 was the traditional thump of the rear beam on the pits, accompanied by attempts to jump from the trajectory on turns with a bad road surface.
I liked the brakes. It is convenient to dose the force on the pedals, and the slowdown itself is effective and adequate both at speed on the highway and in traffic jams.
As for the prices, the Peugeot RCZ, as they say, is not cheap, but also not expensive. The basic version with a 156 hp motor with and a mechanical gearbox is estimated at 1 199,000 rubles. Supplement for a six -speed machine - 50 thousand rubles. The top 200-horsepower RCZ costs from 1,299,000 rubles. But a powerful version differs not only with a more powerful engine. The charged compartment has advanced brakes, other rotary fists and additional stretching in the front suspension.
The rear spoiler rises automatically depending on speed. After 85 km/h, its angle is 19 degrees, after 155 km/h - 34 degrees. In addition, there is a special key in the cabin.
PEUGEOT RCZ is unlikely to apply for the title of bestseller in his class. Firstly, there is, though dear, but everyone’s favorite Audi TT, and secondly, similar in the price of the VW Scirocco style, the gambling Mazda MX-5 and the initial versions of the BMW 1 Series compartment. In this list, everyone claims the title of Driver`s Car. To compete with such loud names is not easy and, most likely, Peugeot RCZ will remain a piece of goods for an amateur. But is this considered a disadvantage when your car is of genuine interest in the sophisticated sportsmen of the metropolitan public? It seems to me hardly.
