It is only necessary to get used to the motor, which has almost a gasoline character: it does not have a wide shelf of the moment, which is familiar to diesel engines, and the maximum power is achieved at high 4000 revolutions per minute. Therefore, this engine can and should be twisted!

At the same time, there is almost no vibration and characteristic diesel noise here, but there is a pleasant, dense acceleration in response to each press of the gas pedal. The dynamics of the diesel hechtbek are enough both in the city and on the highway, and the fuel consumption is located the limits of five to six liters per hundred. It is a pity, of course, that a diesel can not be ordered with an automaton such a combination would be too expensive. It is impossible in Russia, for some reason, to buy a three-door with such a motor.

However, later the French promise to bring to Russia a 115 -horsepower version of the same engine that will be equipped with an EGS six -speed robot. But it will be sold only in a five -door version.


On the basic 15-inch wheels, the turn of the turbodiesel PEUGEOT 208 is quite comfortable. You can’t blame the suspension either in excessive stiffness or in softness. It perfectly extinguishes vibrations on the waves, carefully filters a trifle, and only on pits with sharp edges do shocks become stronger, and the suspension operation is also indicated by muffled rockets.

But if a five-door version with 15-inch tires overcomes the pits quite carefree and without obvious losses in comfort, then the three-inch on 16-inch wheels shakes the riders much stronger.

In a sports mode (there is also a winter) gearbox works a little more quickly, and in manual can keep the program, but there is little use from this. Anyway, when overtaking, the machine is forced to switch to second gear, forcing the motor to roar out of all voice. The sounds that make the suspension of this car make much more. In a gasoline three -door, flaunting on 16 -inch discs, the smoothness of the course worsened markedly, there were blows when passing irregularities appeared.
