The new Fiesta almost accurately falls into that price niche, where another Ford-Russian Focus, which, as you know, refers to the golf class C, that is, the rank is a step higher than the fiesta. The question is, who will buy Fiesta in Russia if Focus can be purchased for the same money?
Ford dealers answer this question something like this: they say, Fiesta is intended for those fastidious consumers who consider the Vsevolozhsk Focus a shack and certainly wants a car made in Europe, even if the class below.
OPTICAL ILLUSION. Ford Fiesta and Opel Corsa are ideologically very close to each other - these are representatives of the clan of small city hatchbacks, who, according to the layout of the concept, are ordered to be large inside. To get the maximum of living space with very modest external dimensions, both cars are built on very large wheelbases for their class. The Corsa base has the longest in class B (2490 mm), in Fiesta it is only shorter for a few millimeters (2485 mm). At the same time, Fiesta itself is 10 cm longer, wider than 3.5 cm and higher by 2 cm and the luggage compartment, it has 25 liters more than that of Corsa (285 versus 260 l), however, only with the rear seats established. And if you fold them, then Opel is even more spacious (1060 liters against FIESTS 950 liters) - these are the features of the layout.
Visually Fiesta is perceived as a kind of degeneration - at least next to the corsa - thanks to body contours. The Ford Model is more lobele, in addition, it has a huge windshield of a kind of aquarium type for such a small machine, and therefore it looks somehow more solid.
Mal, yes remov. The living space of both cars is quite decent. Of course, there is no particular spaciousness-it is not limousines after all, but there is no tightness. By the way, Corsa after its model update, when it added 5 cm in a wheelbase, and in the inner width of the cabin - 8 cm, became one of the comfort standards in class B. Now, in this row, next to Fiat Punto and the same Fabia with 206, a new Fiesta also got up-it also has very competently (of course, within its dimensional capabilities), a small principle is realized-a large inside.
For the test we got a demonstration Fiesta performed by Ghia with a top engine-a 100-horsepower gasoline, 1.6 liters and ordinary mechanics. Driving impressions are the most positive. The machine is light, and hundreds of horses are more than enough for it to ensure amazing edification - you can rush decently from the traffic light, and jump out of the counterclaim to overtake. Of course, the motor is not racing, there is no need to deceive here, but everything that is entrusted to it is brilliantly.
The only claim to this engine (as, indeed, to the other fiesta in our market,-1.3 and 1.4-liter, the power of 70 and 80 hp) applies to the consumed fuel. We need 95th gasoline-and this once again leads to sad thoughts about the prospects of the fiesta in Russia. After all, the vast majority of city babies (the same Corsa, for example) calmly digest the 92nd-for someone it is full-time, for someone tolerant. Moreover, the intra-corporate competitor of FIEST-Russian Focus-can also eat 92th gasoline. Somehow it's all strange.
Mechanical machine. In Corsa, the motor-transmission combination turned out to be very interesting, if not cool. Under the hood of a 1.2 liter motor and a capacity of 75 horses. Not the largest and most powerful of the Korsovsky engines (the gasoline row of the Corsa begins with a 58-horsepower 1-liter and ends with a 1.8 liter engine that is issuing 125 hp), but with it, and only with it, the box is going on Easytronic. It seems to many with nonsense - they say, such a small engine and with an automatic machine, but there is nothing unnatural here. The fact is that Easytronic is not an automatic machine, but a mechanical 5-speed checkpoint, the peculiarity of which is that you can switch both automatically and manually, without squeezing the adhesion pedal (it, in fact, is not here). This gearbox that has taken away by the automaton takes away the engine much less power than the classic machine gun - this is its main advantage.
In the parking lot I want to habitually transfer it to the P (Parking) mode, in which you can not put the car on the handbrake-but there is no parking regime. It is necessary to leave the box on neutrals and at the same time be sure to squeeze the handbrake, otherwise the car can roll. We learned to cunning: we jammed the motor, leaving the selector on the drive or in the back, then the handbrake can not be stopped. But if you drown out the engine to neutrals, and only then transfer the selector to the transmission (front or rear - it doesn’t matter), as is usually done on machines with mechanics, the transmission will not turn on - it must be remembered.
HIGH JUMP. Both cars - both Corsa and Fiesta - can be very worthy to charge with options if desired. Standard spectrum: air conditioning, audio with a CD player, an electric package, etc., a global trend is felt as much as possible to tighten the models to the fact that at least the class above. In the fiesta, you can especially note the heating of the windshield - a damn useful little thing, especially if you take into account its huge sizes.
It’s too early to talk about the features of operation Fiesta - the model has not really reached Russian roads. But regarding Corsa, the experience has already accumulated considerable. The car is generally not bad. True, there is one annoying inconsistent in it, very noticeable in our climate - the stupid location of the battery. He here, count, outside - in the air intake pocket between the motor compartment and the outer part of the torpedo. Plastic trump chips, as if with a fig leaf covering terminals, are almost not saved from snow (tested in winter during powerful snowfalls), and from water with washing liquid flowing from the glass.
