Test drive Nissan Terrano II 5 doors 2002 - 2005 SUV

Highlander - II

The name Terrano causes in the depths of consciousness vague analogies with a computer strategy such as civilization. When moving the mouse on the screen with a stylized map above each surface of the surface, appropriate inscriptions appear in the window. Put the cursor on the desert, and in the corner of the screen is the Desert. Put Sokolniki like a park like a park - Forest appears. And you move to the mountains - Terrain will appear.
Terrano, Perfavore!
The Japanese strive for world domination for a long time and persistently. Alas, political ambitions are not destined to come true, and even the little smoking, no matter how small Ryu hugs with his older brother Boris, not see them, you understand!
But in the production of consumer items, from voice recorders to cars, the Japanese are still ahead of the entire planet. True, in the case of Terrano II, this is at someone else's expense, since this SUV is not gathering in the country of the rising sun. In total, Nissan has several factories or assembly industries both in Japan itself and in the Old World - in England, Spain and until recently in Greece. Nissan Terrano II has been gathered in Spain since January 1995, along with its brothers Vanette/Cargo and Serena minibuses. In May 1996, the designers decided to replace the square headlights that have fallen to the whole world with revolutionary and well -forgotten old round eyes, introducing a lot of additional bells and whistles - a turbodiesel with an intercooler, extended wheel arches, decoration of the front wood panel and much more. During our long -term dough, we will dwell on every little thing.
Many can decide that in the country with continuous siesta, corrida and meadows about Japanese quality can be forgotten, but it was not there. Diligent Japanese control the quality of products so well that these same torments do not dare to think about any siesta. They work like energy batteries. By the way, the entire plant, including door handles and toilet drying for hand, was first assembled in Japan, checked for quality, and then, like a doll house of Barbie, transported to Barcelona. As a result, the Japanese themselves export the Spanish Terrano to the historical homeland, however, under a different name - Mistral.
SIAMESE TWINS
Even the Americans with their love for suitcase cars with multi -horned voracious engines willingly acquire Nissan Terrano II, however, with a more patriotic name - Ford Maversk. Details of the negotiations of the Ford leadership with Nissan on the creation of joint production in Barcelona and the cost of installing the Ford Emblem on the Terrano II edition of the autopilot are unknown, but we hope that neither Nissan nor Ford vnulesu remained. And returning to Ford Maverick, we note that the tramp, produced by the Nissanovsky plant in Spain, has the right to authorized sale in only some European countries. As for Russia - taboo. Although in Moscow, and in the regions, perhaps you can find a certain number of Terrano II twins with the Ford emblem. But these are no longer official sales, but private import.
Simple but elegant
Focusing on a long -term test, the editorial office of the autopilot for a reason opted for Terrano II. Nissan emblem jeeps have been known for a long time and enjoy well -deserved authority. But this is in the bulk of the angular Nissan Patrol of the previous generation, which are used by oil workers, Chechen militants, heads of district administrations and just honest gigers. A good, strong car, but on the city streets it impress an elephant in a bowl shop. Terrano was created as a reasonable compromise between a reliable workhorse and a car for every day.
On the one hand, the car has a rather attractive modern appearance, which does not spoil the city stream, even surrounded by modern Mercedes and BMW. A special flavor gives him a air intake on the hood, which in a gasoline version does not carry a semantic load. Just the same hood is available for both diesel and gasoline versions. On a diesel engine, air enters the intercooler through this nostril, and a plug is simply placed on it on a gasoline version. But it looks cool in combination with the steps, side expanders and tinted glasses, which are included in the standard completion of the new version of Terrano II.
The first thousand is a normal flight
Our car has the necessary gentlemanly set of a modern car - an electric packet, adjustable steering column, hatch, air conditioning, radio with RDS and control of the CD changer (there is no CHEINGER in our version), a leather salon. In addition, we discovered a three -channel ABS system, which is not included in the standard configuration of the SE version.
So far, a little more than 1000 kilometers on the speedometer and the car has not presented any unpleasant surprises - the fuel consumption during urban driving is normal (about 15 liters), in a terrible heat that fell on Moscow in early June, the motor does not heat up, and the air conditioner allows you to feel almost a person . The future will show how Terrano II will behave in various situations in the city and off -road, but for now we will give some tips from the autopilot magazine to owners of similar all -wheel drive technology:
1. Jeeps with a connected front bridge are not intended for permanent driving in a full -wheel drive mode. Otherwise, this will quickly lead to a breakdown of the handout. Its repair or replacement can result in a couple of thousand US dollars.
2. You can move from 2H to 4H on the go, provided that the speed does not exceed 40 km/h. It is logical to do this at any congress from the asphalt to the country road - in this case, a puddle or just dirt, which suddenly open at the next turn, will not take you by surprise.
3. You can also switch from all -wheel drive to the rear on the go, but it is better to stop. You still need to drive 1-2 meters in reverse to unlock the differential of the front axle.
