Nissan Teana test drive since 2008 sedan

The beginning of dawn

Following Almera Classic Nissan, another model specially for Russia - the Teana business class sedan. A car with a new name will compete with the well -known Toyota Camry.
 
The predecessor models - Maxima QX to confront the venerable competitor was not easy, but Teana has every chance of success. I was convinced of this, having met on the shores of the Gulf of Finland with two modifications of the new sedan.
 
It was hot in Moscow, and in St. Petersburg it was hotly unbearable! It is good that the organizers immediately freed us from the stuffy embrace of the metropolis and sent us to the picturesque places of the Leningrad region. Pine groves, sandy beaches, sparkling behind the trees, the surface of the bay and about 200 km of the test path - a good alternative to stone bers!
 
But first a little theory. Nissan Teana - for Russia, but not only for it. The model will be sold in Japan and Korea. The car is made on the FF-L platform (it has at their disposal American Altima and Maxima, as well as Murano) and will be offered with three engines. At the very bottom-a 2-liter 4-cylinder, with a capacity of 136 hp. What does such a modest power unit do under the hood of a large car? Saves money. You can buy a cheap version of Teana for less than thirty thousand dollars. Traveling corporate version? Why not? It is a pity that there was no this modification at the presentation. However, the organizers can be understood - such cars are bought, guided not by emotions, but by strict calculation. And journalists are emotional people
 
I was in no hurry to drive the most powerful Teana - the first number in my personal program was a machine with a 2.3 -liter V6 with a capacity of 173 hp. It looks more modest - the sixteenth wheels, high -profile rubber (205/65). The top version on matte 17-inch discs stands nearby. Gorgeous! It looks modern, worthy, without a specific Japanese color. It even seemed that Teana was made in the spirit of American models of the company. There is something in it from the Infiniti luxury sedans, which is for a mass machine, of course, a compliment. Teana has expressive lighting equipment, front and back. Stop -signals are LED, and the overall lights burn with cells - the disperseers have an interesting pattern. In the exterior, chrome is generously used.
 
The salon looks presentable. Two -level front panel of strict shape, generous decoration with wood. Neatly co -composed buttons on the central console, a stylish font. Good, tasteful. The materials are chosen sensible, even cheap plastic looks high quality. The assembly is exemplary - the gaps are minimal, neither squeaks, nor knock. But these are copies from the first parties!
 
In Teana, I was quite a lot of time in the back seat and I do not regret it at all. Eh, I wouldn’t put the ceiling on the top of the head! However, you can slightly slide down, get more imposingly. This is done without prejudice to the knees - there is plenty of supply of space. By the way, on the most expensive version in the armrests of the second row, the control keys of the musical system and heated rear seats are hidden. Competitors do not yet offer such an option. You can order another innovation from Nissan - the front passenger chair Ottoman Seat. An additional section lurked under his pillow, leg support - just like on the rear lodges in the limousines of the highest segment! The section on demand is put forward by an electric drive. Also for Teana, a color display in the central panel is provided, which displayed the image from the parking chamber.
 
The 2.3-liter engine, supplemented by a 4-speed automatic transmission with stretched gear numbers, is enough for confident accelerations. But if there were a modern machine or mechanic, the dynamics would have turned out to be more lively. However, a slow car cannot be called a slow car. On the suburban highway, the arrow cheerfully got to the mark of 200 km/h.
 
On high -profile TEANA tires is comfortable. The noises are extinguished with dignity - somewhere in the bowels the motor rumbles, and the rustle of tires is heard. The suspension swallows almost everything, telling the body a minimum of blows and vibrations. However, it is not at all slaughtered - the car holds the car confidently, and in corners, despite significant rolls, goes clearly and understandable. The steering with a variable effort offers the driver reliable feedback - reliably informs about the position of the wheels. Zero on a straight clear, Teana does not scour, keeps a course. And if you quickly enter the turn on a broken road, it can be noted that hitting the stamps are not transmitted.
 
In turns, the car rests a little at the entrance, but the moment when the demolition begins is well felt and easily control it. A little alerted by active steering of the rear suspension. If you carelessly lose the gas in a bend or sharply trust the steering wheel, the car was retino willed. It seems that the back is about to abandon. However, the wheels hold on to the coating - they steal.
 
The first part of the route was overcome quickly and did not leave a drop of fatigue. After a short lunch-stop on the shores of the Gulf of Finland, I sit behind the wheel of the topova Teana. The machine briskly breaks off, powerfully gaining speed. Immediately feels a solid increase in power and a torque. Up to 100 km/h the car accelerates in less than 8 seconds - a good indicator.
 
A 3.5-liter engine known for many other models of the company works here with a magnificent variator, which has six fixed steps. The result is captivating. The box without delays eludes the steps, and the driver under the right foot always turns out to be a solid supply of traction. If you want to go more actively, you can switch to manual mode. However, it is difficult to find fault in automatic to the work of the variator - everything does perfectly.
 
Thanks to the wheels of a larger diameter and wider and low-profile tires (205/55 R17) of the 3.5-liter teana reaction is livelier. The car goes a little more rigidly, but comfort does not suffer at all.
 
As it turned out, the name Teana is not so mysterious. And not even eastern. In the language of the indigenous inhabitants of America is a dawn or beginning. There is another meaning - the excellent sound of nature. The first option seems to me more suitable here. Nissan finally sent the obsolete Maxima QX to rest and is ready to begin to conquer the market with the new Teana. Who knows, maybe Teana will become the dawn of the Nissan commercial success in this direction.

The simplest version of Elegance has a 2-liter engine and a 4-speed automatic. At the time of writing, there were no exact prices. Nissan was reported only to the price fork - from $ 29,990 to $ 45,000.
