The first generation of Nissan Teana, which replaced the very successful Maxima, appeared in Russia two years ago. The car was perceived well with the public, although the appearance, interior, and charming and raised my senior colleagues some questions. But now the model begins a new life in a new look, and, in my opinion, is able to strengthen its position in the Russian market. By the way, Teana will be supplied to us from Japan, and not from China, where it is also produced. Well, the main idea and basic advantage of the novelty is comfortable, which seems to be in the car every detail and every mechanism.
Big and elegant
The new sedan externally, you see, is much more expressive than its predecessor. He almost got rid of excessively smoothed forms of body elements. The roundness and even the inflatedness of the sidewalls is obvious, so after all the solidity of the appearance is evident. At the same time, the overall dimensions did not change significantly the body became 30 mm wider and 5 mm longer, and the height remained the same. I would say that the exterior of the car began to more consistent with its class and purpose.
Along with this, Teana is not devoid of sports, it is enough to look at the front-line front with headlights that have changed beyond recognition, forming something about 350z compartment. A large grille of the radiator, a mighty bumper with foglights, cut at the edges of moldings, everything speaks of the outstanding capabilities of the car. And the food began to look more elegant and easier, primarily thanks to relatively small lanterns equipped with LEDs. Of course, not 16, but 17-inch wheels that are offered in expensive trim levels are more suitable for such a car.
Components of comfort
In general, the external hint of the dynamic potential of Teana is justified: machines are supplied with one of two engines. Or 2.5-liter V6, developing 182 hp Or a 249-horsepower engine with a volume of 3.5 liters. The transmission in both cases is the unacceptable variator of Xtronic-CVT, which was thoroughly worked on, reducing the speed of the transition from one range to another by 30%. But these are words, but how in practice?
At first I happened to try out the most powerful version. After pressing the engine start button, illuminated by a calm pink color, the salon was filled with a barely audible sound sound insulation at a height. In such a pacifying quiet environment, my leisurely swimming began on the Kaliningrad surroundings, where a test drive was organized. Unhurried because, despite the numbers of acceleration to hundreds of 7.2 seconds of desire to get my dose of adrenaline, I did not have. Teana does not have a crazy drive. Yes, the start from the place is confident and assertive. However, it is worth loosening the pressure on the accelerator pedal, as Teana will go into a calm mode. And even if later, already on the go, sharply drown the gas pedal to the floor, the car will respond to this with a tangible pause. In the back of the chair, under any circumstances, it will not imprint, but rather gently pressed it to it, and Teana will begin to impressively gain speed. In other words, the variator is thoughtful, like a Japanese in a garden of stones. And in this, believe me, there is your own charm in of course, you can go arbitrarily quickly, just everything happens smoothly, without fanaticism.

And the movement is just as smooth as the merit of the new D-platform. The same platform, by the way, is used on the new Murano and American Altima and Maxima. The body itself became tougher, and the pendants, perhaps, remained the same. Not so much elastic as soft. And I was surprised to note that with all their comfort, not even too large potholes in the roadbins are tangible, and a couple of times it even came to the breaks.
As for the steering, it is quite informative for my taste. The steering wheel is noticeably heavier with an increase in speed, and in the parking lot you can at least twist it with a little finger. In urban conditions, such settings are just right.

I jerked enough on the top version, I moved to a less powerful modification with a 2.5 -liter engine. Immediately, the attention was attracted by a slightly loud and sharp noise of the motor. Moreover, even at low speeds, the car sounds more vigorous than surpassing it in power. However, response to the work of the gas pedal returned me a sense of reality of any sharp pickup and exciting dynamics. Only a calm and measured movement. Frankly, after the test of the first car, driving on the second quickly bored me, and I began to study the interior.
Relaxing atmosphere
Thanks to the slightly grown dimensions, as well as a different layout, the salon gives a feeling of space. In the interior design, wave -like elements prevail, and it largely reminds of Infiniti machines. After all, the manufacturer positions Teana as a premium car. I won’t argue, but I note that the decoration of the salon calms and distracts passengers from the hustle and bustle.
The front panel made of soft plastic is divided by a horizontal insert of wood into two parts. The tunnel between the driver and the front passenger is also trimmed with wood. A small insert of chromium, which frames the handle of the gearbox, was not entirely appropriate on it. In general, the presence of a metal of material that brings a certain spirit of aggression is minimized. Read everything right, leave risky ventures, enjoy silence and smooth move, unless, under the wheels, decent asphalt.
The seats provide an excellent landing and support, and are regulated, it seems, in all possible directions. The enlarged side armrests almost come into contact with the backs, creating the feeling that you are really in the home chair. In addition, there is a memory of settings for two and an adjustable lumbar support, which, after a long trip, personally seemed to me not enough. The front passenger chair, as in the last generation, has a retractable foot stand.
On a convenient trunk, which is regulated, however, only in height, there are many switches, including the control of the audio system. The dashboard is informative, not overloaded with indicators. It consists of three easily readable blocks with large scales and arrows framed by chrome. The center has a speedometer and a small display, displaying the most necessary information: movement time, current and average fuel consumption, etc.
On the front console there is a multifunctional color display. When the rear gear is turned on, the image from the rear view camera is displayed on it. With no less success, a map of the terrain appears on it when the navigation system is working, or the film frame with a DVD player. Of course, you can have fun with a film only when the automatic transmission lever is in P. But safety is above all. The screen also informs about the operating mode of the climate control system, which is equipped with an ionizer. The climate control unit is located at the bottom of the console. The purpose of the buttons located on it is quickly guessed, and is also remembered as quickly.
The design of the rear seats also allows you to relax. In the leaning armrest there are buttons that allow the climate installation, an audio system, heating or ventilation of the seats and an automatic curtain on the rear window. A cover that opens access to these switches the only thing I could catch on when looking for flaws in the cabin. In both cars, she closed with a booming cheap sound. Otherwise, no complaints, the quality of materials and the thoroughness of the fitting of details are respected. Passengers, by the way, can enjoy acoustics from Bose and Starry. The most expensive versions (from 1,179,700 rubles) are equipped with a glass roof consisting of two single -sized sections. One of which is a hatch and opens with a simple press of a button. Using the same button, the passenger can close both sections with the material that trimmed the ceiling of the car. A very pleasant innovation.
Demand for comfort
After a thorough acquaintance with the new generation, Nissan Teana can say with confidence that the company managed to achieve the desired result to provide potential customers with comfort. It is quite corresponding to the ideas about the business class sedan.
The price of the new product is slightly higher than for the main competitor to Toyota Camry. The cost begins with 838 500 rubles for modification with a 2.5 -liter engine and a basic set of options. For the car in the richest configuration with the 3.5 engine, you will have to give 1,233,400 rubles. It is noteworthy that Teana is probably intentionally not enough one horsepower to get into the number of cars taxed by higher transport tax.
