Oh, all -wheel drive, enlarged road clearance, hard blocking, you need to find dirt and suffer a car well there, one colleague said before the test. However, his enthusiasm did not impress me. After all, it was not about the new SUV, but about the usual Nissan Teana. Although not so ordinary model was called Teana Four.

Nissan Teana and Toyota Camry. In Russia, these are two main opponents in class E, and the struggle there does not go to life, but for death. But while Camry wins in this battle last year, it was sold almost 2.5 times better than Teana. Therefore, the Nissanists decided to make a move with a horse. They built Teana specifically for the Russian market!


In a V6 engine with a volume of 2.5 liters, the maximum torque of 228 nm is reached at 4400 rpm. The four -cylinder engine is already 240 nm, which can be obtained at 4000 rpm

In general, at first the news that Teana will receive an all -wheel drive transmission did not excite me too much. In the 21st century, you can’t scare anyone with a drive to all wheels. However, very interesting features were later revealed. The main thing is that Teana received an enlarged road clearance. Moreover, this applies to all TEANA without exception, and not just all -wheel drive machines. After all, before the situation for Nissan was not too funny, Teana had 135 mm, and the same Camry already had 160 mm (Toyota sellers very skillfully used this information). Nissan suffered two years. But not just that they suffered actively. And to the maximum used the fact that the Japanese have their own factory in Russia, where they collect Teana. After all, this allows you to much easily master the release of the so -called localized versions of the car.

It was an increase in the road clearance that required the most efforts from engineers. In the front suspension, everything went without consequences. But in the rear there was an incident with an increase in the lumen to 150 mm, it turned out that the stabilizer stabilizer became the lowest point. Not the best solution to the Nissanists thought, tried to change the location of the rack. Did not work out. We thought again, then again and simply removed the rear stabilizer. The decision, admitted, is risky. We know very well that the stabilizer serves to combat the rolls in corners. And then it turned out an extra part, but the engineers say, you do not close you on the stabilizer, it is not a panacea and not a magic wand. Crane can also fight in other ways. What? For example, more rigid shock absorbers.

After solving the problem with an increase in the road clearance (we repeat once again, the clearance of 150 mm have both front and all-wheel drive machines), it was necessary to solve another problem how to adjust the existing engines V6 with a volume of 2.5 and 3.5 liters of all-wheel drive transmission. Yes, not simple, but from the X-Trail SUV, which connects the rear axle with a multi-disk electromagnetic friction coupling not only automatically (when the front wheels slipped), but also forced! Now force 5 to 20 billion to move your neurons with dendrites and axons. And remember how much you know in our market of cars of class E (or other class) that are forced to block the coupling in our market? So we could not. True, the transmission here was nevertheless undergoing modernization. If the Nissan X-Trail blocking operates at speeds up to 40 km/h, then in Teana it itself turns off at 10 km/h. But this, you see, are trifles.

More importantly, something else thanks to blocking the driver can drive through complex areas at low speed, where ordinary cars get stuck. We did not test the car in serious dirt. And they did the right thing, well, what adequate driver will be on a large sedan to climb to where the UAZ and Geliki should ride? But you can already drive up to the lake on this car without much excitement. Yes, and filled with water and dirt, the track near the cottage is not so scary. Still, because Teana Four continues to go forward even with diagonal hanging! We can also say that the modern all -wheel drive transmission works perfectly at high speed, especially if you turn off the contrasting system in advance. At the limit, when the front wheels are just starting to slip, the electromagnetic coupling very quickly connects the rear axle. And the car begins to smoothly and very predictably slipping outward with all four wheels. Although it is better not to arrange such pokatushki on public roads. It is too dangerous, and besides, when working at maximum speed, it begins to openly annoy with its hysterical howl.

By the way, about the engine, we forgot something about him. The all-wheel drive Teana is equipped with a 2.5-liter unit. But not V6, with a capacity of 182 hp, which is placed on ordinary cars (it just sounds great even in the red zone). And already four-cylinder from the same X-Trail. The engine gives 167 hp. (minus 15 hp compared to V6), but its torque is higher than that of a six -cylinder fellow 12 Nm. Moreover, the maximum of the moment is achieved here at lower speeds. Thanks to this, the engine, despite the absence of two cylinders, still accelerates the car perfectly and quickly reacts to pressing the gas pedal. So the average driver will not feel the big difference between the 2.5 liter engines.


Interestingly, the four-cylinder engine can eat 92th gasoline. By the way, it also eats the same fuel with a 2.5 liter V6 (a 3.5-liter unit requires the 95th)

The four -cylinder engine works with Teana only paired with a stranded variator (the model simply does not have other gearboxes). So, when you start to go in the style of a slipper to the floor, the sound of the motor becomes very nasty. And loud. But, attention, this applies only to those cases when the tachometer arrow is selected to the red zone. But when working in the zone of small and medium revolutions, no engine sound. The power unit is almost inaudible! It seems that Nissan representatives did not deceive NC when they said that they paid great attention to the noise insulation of Teana. The car really turned out to be quiet!

And in general, Teana, especially in the maximum configuration, is a really comfortable car with a luxurious and well -assembled salon. Which has not only habitual bells and grounds for large sedans like leather chairs with electric drive (very decent, by the way, skin) or navigation system. There may also be a rear view camera, front seats ventilation system, and even a unique Ottoman for our market special support for the legs in the front passenger seat. It all looks very worthy. In addition, sitting behind the wheel is convenient. Unless the steering wheel here is not adjusted by departure. And the rear seats made a good impression. There is really a lot of places there is a real business class.

But Teana drives with all -wheel drive and increased road clearance is no longer as soft as before. Although still with the smoothness of the course, everything is in order, at least if you do not rush at a speed of 140 km/h along a broken country highway. The reason for the changes has already been announced more rigid shock absorbers.

And what do we have in the end? And we have a very decent car with a high level of comfort, a spacious interior, a large number of bells and whistles and a full -wheel drive system. Moreover, with a unique possibility of forced locking connecting the rear wheels of the coupling. And the road clearance is now sufficient here. Will Teana be able to overtake Camry after the appearance of all -wheel drive modification? Hardly. The Toyota brand continues to attract many. Yes, and Camry itself, between us, a pretty decent car. But Nissan are confident in the market success of Teana Four. This year, the Japanese expect to sell about 2,000 all -wheel drive machines and reach 10,000 Teana (for comparison last year 5905 Teana were sold, Camry 16452).


The dynamic characteristics of Teana Four are as follows. The maximum speed is 180 km/h (minus 20 km/h compared to the front-wheel drive Teana 2.5), the acceleration time is 0-100 km/h 9.8 s, fuel consumption in the city 12.5 l per 100 km (at the front-wheel drive (at the front-wheel drive (at the front-wheel drive (at the front-wheel drive (at the front-wheel drive (at the front-wheel drive 12.1 l)

And 2000 all -wheel drive Teana is a very real indicator. True, the screen here will be monochrome, and you need to pay extra for the ESP system. Nissan Teana Four in the Luxury version with a color screen, ESP, rear view camera, xenon and 17-inch wheels costs 1,121,000 rubles. The Luxury+ version with a windows, front seat ventilation, DVD, Bose audio system with 11 speakers, six pillows 1 198,600 rubles. The Premium version with navigation, Bluetooth Hands-Free, an ionizer in the climate control system is 1,243,000 rubles.


However, Nissan should not relax. This only at first glance Teana Four has no competitors. But in fact, they are available, and are distinguished by very decent motors power. The main rival is perhaps Opel Insignia. This car with all -wheel drive can be taken for 1,070,300 rubles. True, the gearbox will be mechanical that not everyone will like it. But the motor here is a cheerful 2.0 turbo, 220 hp. A car with all -wheel drive and automatic is already 1,526,800 rubles. True, the unit has such an Insignia test V6 with a volume of 2.8 liters, turbine, 260 hp.

And there is also Skoda Superb 4x4. It costs at least 1,449,000 rubles. (374,000 rubles more expensive than the basic Teana Four). True, there is one nuance of the all-wheel drive version of Skoda Superb is equipped with a 3.6-liter six with a capacity of 260 hp. and DSG transmission with two clutches. Still, the difference in almost a hundred horses, although almost 400 thousand, is also money.

Subaru Legacy, however, is smaller than Teana, but can also be considered as a potential rival. 1 122 400 rub. That is how much Legacy is now taking into account the discount (with the onset of July, the price will be almost 1.2 million rubles). The engine 2.0 liters (150 hp, 196 nm), a mechanical gearbox, a leather salon. A 2.0-liter car with a variator will cost 1,257,000 rubles in July. But in our case, it will be more correct to look at Legacy with a 2.5-liter unit, which gives almost as much as the Nissan motor: 167 hp. and 229 Nm. Such a car with a variator in 2 weeks will cost 1,362,100 rubles.

The remaining large all-wheel drive sedans are noticeably more expensive, although they already perform in the premium class, and besides, their engines are powerful. For example, Volvo S80 3.2 AWD, 238 hp, costs 1,639,900 rubles. There is another 205-horsepower diesel S80 D5 AWD for 1.7 million rubles. Almost the same amount of all -wheel drive Cadillac CTS with a gasoline engine with a capacity of 307 hp. Well, Audi A6 2.8 FSI Quattro is already 1,900,000 rubles. And even then we are talking about a limited batch of cars (as soon as they end, the price of such sixs will be 2,020,000 rubles). Mercedes E350 4Matic in a special series of at least 2.5 million. But this is all, as you know, players are already from another league.
