He was to figure out on the spot whether to contact this machine, or more advisable to wait for the next generation car to appear. On an advertising sticker dedicated to the EVO MR car, I saw the 4G63 model finishes!, Which could not be paid attention to. What could all this mean?
Meanwhile, I, without hesitation, immediately asked the T -shirt the question that interests me. I asked this: they say that the new generation EVO car, in the name of which, as I understand it, will be present by the Roman number X, will be full of a huge number of all kinds of new products. In this case, what's the point of hurry and take, although partially modernized, but still a little outdated Evo IX?. Do you know what the answer followed? What, you can wait for a new model if you do not like the 4G63 engine, and you are ready to change it to something new, and, therefore, at first raw! And besides, a huge number of options already tested by time are offered to the old car, and when it becomes available to the new car! In addition, there is another significant circumstance that is not customary to talk about. Namely, spare parts, more precisely, the simplicity of their search! I bought a car, then it was necessary to replace something, but this is not on sale yet, since the release of spare parts has not yet been established in the right volume. As for the EVO IX MR car, this is, in fact, the same model as the previous Evo IX with all the ensuing consequences!. Yes, indeed, the seller just take an interest in, he will say that that he will not seem enough! But the main thing that I caught and what I attached the meaning is the mention of the 4G63 engine engine.
So, we assume that the former Evo IX car was brought to perfection, and in order to emphasize this circumstance, a new model of the car was marked with an abbreviation MR. Where did it come from, every expert in the Mitsubishi brand car from a combination of the initial letters of the words Mitsubishi Racing (racing version from Mitsubishi). If anyone remembers, the Mitsubishi was once produced by the Galant, the main name of which was joined by the letters GTO MR. What kind of car it was, everyone should also remember well. So, once long ago, a rule was adopted and for some time, according to which, if this or that model is brought to the highest degree of perfection, it deserved an additional name MR. The case mentioned above with the Mitsubishi Galant model, I must say, was not the only one. And now the time has come, and the Evo car after a low modernization suddenly took and turned into Evo VIII MR! The same thing happened with the EVO IX car. Moreover, as before, the renaming affected not only the sedan, but also the station wagon, and this is doubly interesting!
Yes, and yet: a somewhat changed the division of the EVO IX model into categories. Now the sedan can be the GSR or RS category. As for the station wagon, it is produced in the configuration of GT-A and GT. As you can see, the GT sedan is excluded from the list of manufactured cars.
All improvements that distinguish the new EVO MR series can be divided into three large groups. Of course, one cannot but pay attention to some changes in the design of the machine. Let it be improvements to the first group. However, if we have agreed that MR means Mitsubishi Racing, then, in all likelihood, the design is not the main indicator. The main thing is an improved engine and the design of the chassis. So, in order to fully evaluate these advantages, I decided to go to the prefecture of Totiga, where there is a testing track. So I was driving an Evo IX improved model.

First of all, I decided to take a closer look at what the traction capabilities of the new car. Judging by passport data, then everything, it seems, should remain unchanged. But in fact, you just have to move out and start acceleration and immediately pay attention to the improved engine acceptance. But all the same, the most true and reliable way to check how the car reacts to the accelerator pedal is to go along the ring on it.
When passing a slight turn, I, somewhere in its middle, press the gas pedal, and at the same moment they feel a sharp push from behind, which indicates that the car rushed forward with double energy. If we compare with how the old Evo IX behaves in such a situation, then in the first case we can say that the car throws forward, and in the second - that it just pushes it. This is due to the fact that the engineers were reconfiguring the engine, in particular, they redirected the MIVEC gas distribution system, and, in addition, changed the quality of the material from which the turbine is made. In addition, the intake hole of the compressor chamber (where the compressor impeller is installed) made a slightly smaller cross -section. This alteration, however, did not touch the engine, which stands on a car of the GT-A category.
What else do you pay attention to when you throw the car into the turn is the direct dependence of the rotation of the front of the car on the position of the accelerator. The fact is that the distribution of torque between the leading wheels is led by the AYC electronic control system. So, in the new car, the difference between the rotating moment of the left and right wheel can vary in a much wider range than this was provided in an old -style machine. To be precise, the range of the difference in moments is expanded by 10 percent. So it turns out that at the final stage of rotation, you can put it stronger than the usual on the gas pedal, and the front of the car will turn sharply in the right direction.
Naturally, this would hardly be possible if it were not for the branded EIBach springs and not Bilstein shock absorbers, which provide more durable wheels with the road. Along the way, they help to reduce the longitudinal pitching of the machine, so that at high speed the body holds evenly, it does not talk. And this, in turn, affects the subjective sense of comfort and stability as well as possible.
As for the suspension used in a universal car, it, in all likelihood, remained in its former form. The back of the station wagon, as you know, differs more massly, so the residual inertia is always felt in the bend, whatever the way the steering wheel. However, there is a plus in this, since performing a sharp turn by driving the back, it is also a kind of pleasure.
So is it necessary to wait for the appearance of the EVO X model?
Actually, I can tell what the machine that is in front of you is, and as for what will be produced later, and when this happens, then I am powerless. It is better to turn to engineers, but they are not here today, - this is how the company representative completed his explanations. Yes, but rumors, as they say, the earth is full. And according to these rumors, work on a new car goes, as they say, by seven -mini steps.
And in such an atmosphere, instead of withstanding a pause and then, as expected, to officially declare the start of the next model of EVO X, the managers suddenly took, and they launched a partially modernized EVO IX into production! What is the reason for such a strange, at first glance, solutions? Here you should pay attention to one point: Mitsubishi still cannot clearly decide on its further participation in the world rally championship (WRC). Does this mean, in particular, then that there are simply not sure of the fighting qualities of their new Evo X car and are not sure whether he can compete with rivals. And if so, then the appearance of the EVO IX MR car is presented in the same light as the production of Nissan by the Skyline 32R series of Nissan.
But the point is not only and not so much to support his swaying status. The current line of EVO, as you know, originates since October 1992, and all this time the designers, developing and releasing one generation of the machine, at the same time continued to bet on the engine of the same 4G63 series. At the same time, by the will of the bail, I had to adjust to the modernized motor and chassis. Those of buyers who would like to access the final fruit, who has matured during all these years, why wait for something!? After all, whatever one may say, and the 4G63 engine, apparently, has exhausted all its potential, so further work on it is no longer planned.
