Conversations with a man who sells his swallow, and with the manager at the dealer, is fundamentally different in that in the first case it is, in general, about the experience of operation, and in the second about technical characteristics. Personal operational experience in both cases can be obtained by swing around the garage or around the cabin. The impressions will be superficial, but, on the other hand, they immediately become clear the main things at the level are not suitable, I do not like it.
In today's reviews, my role is as follows: without going into Newtonometers at revolutions per minute, to feel the difference between the new Galant and the Old, the owner of which I am. Those. No questions to the manager, only his own assessments.
I have the most ordinary Galant ES of 1999, an American, with a 2.4 engine with a capacity of 150 hp. And an automatic gearbox. The usual one in the sense that there is nothing special in the configuration, everything is standard. The former owners, and there were three of them, considering the inhabitants of Texas, did not make any improvements. There is no spoiler on the trunk, no, as it were, xenon. In general, a car to just drive.
For the test we received a car in the richest equipment of Instyle, also with an automatic machine (I completely forgot how to drive a handle after four years of driving with automatic transmission, and I have to remember how to handle the clutch pedal, I have no desire) and with the engine 2.4, But not with 8-valve, like mine, but with 16-valve and slightly more powerful: 158 hp.
You can also refuel with 92nd gasoline, although, in my experience, if you fill in a good 95th, then the consumption is significantly less.

I, however, are not a fan of design. I am guided by the fact that you mainly see your car from the salon, and not outside, and most importantly, it is convenient and pleasant inside.
Sitting in the driver's place, I try to understand if there is something in common in sensations from this and my car. Oh sure. Side glasses are similar and generally familiar, comfortable. The feeling of dimensions is the same in size both galants are comparable. But in the rear -view mirror (with day/night modes), another rear view, since the feed has changed. Devices are very different. They are not in the depths, but in the foreground of the panel. They look more elegant and more contrasting better read. On the steering wheel of the radio buttons, the steering wheel itself, as if, is a little smaller in diameter.
The automatic transmission handle is twice as thin as old, but comfortable. There are no 1, 2, 3 modes that I have never used (I don’t pull the trailers on the prairies), but there is a sectral regime that is also unlikely to be useful to me, again because of laziness.
The cigarette lighter is alone. And I have two one cigarette lighter, the second is used as a socket. Hmm, but the cigarette lighter itself is not here! Where is the ashtray? Ah, here it is! For the smoker, nothing is provided here in principle. Well, rightly, you have to throw it.
The armrest, compared to mine, is short. From the habit, the elbow falls forward. But two cup holders are completely free. I have one of them an armrest.
The built -in radio is good. Wearing a panel in your pocket is already tired. But in another pocket, you still have to drag a large display navigator with navigation here, there is only a small audio system with the clock and information. Music, of course, cannot be compared. I had absolutely no full -time, I had to buy another head. And here is premium and 8 speakers. The antenna, like me, is built into the rear window.
I liked the massive control buttons on the titanium central console. Do not miss. On my Galant, there are only three plastic circle of the air conditioning, and that’s all. And here, by the way, is climate control. Good. There is also cruise control, and I sometimes use this thing on the highway, i.e. The thing is not useless, although we are not America.
The chair is convenient, adjusted in all directions, but it was not necessary to adjust anything, somehow it turned out to be normally by default.
No comments to the pedals. The steering wheel switches are familiar. There is heated the front seats and, most importantly, mirrors. I can’t understand why there is no heating of mirrors on my Galanta. Maybe there is no snow in Texas, but it all happens to rain!
The glove compartment on the right is well snapped. My castle had spoiled, sometimes a lid leans back on my wife's knees.
The cabin is leather, black. The plastic is normal, also black. My light gets dirty. Wooden panels look beautiful, appropriate.
The hatch on the roof seemed exactly the same as mine. When you get used to it, then it is difficult to do without him.
I have only two air pillows in front, and here the front, and side, and curtains in addition. This is important to me because I often travel with my family. For passive security, this Galant received a higher rating of 5 stars from the American Nhtsa (National Highway Traffic Safethic Administration), which is pleasing.
And what about the family, by the way? I am transplanted back. O! This is what I understand! There is much more space behind than mine. The child will definitely not complain that his feet are crowded and ask her mother to push her chair forward. Yes, and my beloved mother -in -law will not clash knees in the back. I was not too lazy to try on the children's chair from my car perfectly! And ISOFIX mounts have here, but I don’t have, and therefore our chair is not fixed in any way, only on the belt everything holds with the child.
On the ceiling, its light for the rear passengers is also good, otherwise if the child drops something in the dark, you won’t find it without such illumination. The armrest is comfortable behind, with cup holders. All kinds of pockets. But the inner door handles seemed slippery when you close the door.
The hind backs do not fold at all, like mine. This is explained by the fact that the model refers to the business class. There is a hatch. And it is located in the center of the back row, where the armrest is. I have a hatch on the right, and it seems to me that this is more convenient: you can stick something up to the torpedo if you fold the back of the front chair.
In general, a strange thing. Suppose, my wife and I bought a furniture in the nursery. So, if I, folding my back back, put these packages of the boards into the car and take them home, and in an hour everything will already be assembled in its place, then I, apparently, are not a player of the level of business class. And the one who is at the level will go in line to arrange delivery, and receive his purchases in a few days. Yes, you need to pay for this and think about the house to be at home when they deliver. Logic is incomprehensible. Although this is a question not to Galant, it turns out, but to class standards.
If so, then I will not look under the hood. Let's leave this to the corporate service. But in the trunk it is interesting. Yes, he really became smaller. But if you choose between the volume of the trunk and the expanse in the cabin, I would choose the second. So there are no complaints. Polik is a full -size reserve. The cover from the inside is upholstered by the fabric did not understand why, to be honest. The trunk from the cabin opens, like mine.
There were mere trifles to ride. I turn the motor very quietly works. It's nice in the new car: nothing shakes, does not whistle, does not sob. The place for skiing we found a good huge platform at the supermarket on the outskirts of the city. On the working day of the cars there is almost no, you can rush, like from a traffic light, grab with an acceleration of meters of three hundred meters and slow down in emergency mode. You can and hang along the paths.
On the dynamics of the impression, in principle, the same as from my Galant. And mine, I think, is a star. Those. He jumps off the place with a bullet, then accelerates without objections, inhibits perfectly. The steering wheel, perhaps, seemed too easy. When you go quickly, it’s better not to sneeze, otherwise you can jump out of your row. But maneuverability is better here. Where my steering wheel is already resting against the limiter, here you can take a little more, so it is easier to park and turn around. The suspension is very good, comfortable on bumps and in corners. Noise insulation is high -quality. True, I can only judge by driving on summer tires for good asphalt. But, in any case, the motor does not interfere with the conversation. For running qualities, my personal rating is five points.
So what should we do with the design? Yes, the design is impressive, but times are changing. And I am still inclined to choose what in my development corresponds to the current day. The old Galant is good, no doubt. But now the time is new.

The car is very well adapted to our roads. The suspension is moderately soft, and therefore comfortable. Worthy of the car and the speaker, but the steering wheel is empty.

My opinion
The old Galant certainly wins in appearance. He has his own style. Unless, of course, do not remember that he is very much like BMW in the 39th body. But even if you have such a car in perfect condition, it will still be a machine of the end of the last century. The new Galant seemed quite a worthy successor of a glorious kind. Let it look not like a shark, but it is perceived unambiguously: a solid, modern, expensive car. From the old one can be transferred to the new one, but on the contrary it is unlikely that you want to, with all respect for design.
Opinion of the editorial office
The current Galant causes conflicting sensations. The machine does not catch at all with its appearance. If not tougher. Perhaps even the dull Korean sedans one step ahead. This is especially noticeable against the background of stunningly beautiful predecessor. Restyling of the car, although it smoothed out sharp corners, but fundamentally did not change anything. But the rest of the current Galant car is worthy. Corresponding to their family-business credo. Rides and slows down quite decently. Comfort is largely due to the space of the salon and the energy intensity of the suspension.

The interior of the new Mitsubishi Galant is not distinguished by sophisticates, but carefully planned, convenient and made using high -quality finishing materials. The sedan is equipped with all kinds of goods, for example, climate control and a high-quality stereo system. This car is a reasonable choice for a practical business person.
